Lets see how happy they are when port frees up Chad cornes to sit in front of Lloyd all game. both boys will need to get on their bikes and lead up.

Then having a third marking target could be very handy in that case.

And Kep, a few instances last year aside, he is a good set shot at goal.

I havent seen a lot of Hislop but from what i hear he sounds like a slightly more polished JJ. Is another inside hard nut what we need?

He has the potential to add more strings than JJ.
He finds space and can carry.

I actually forgot about Nash, I take it with a full game tomorrow, he'll be in consideration next week.

Regardless, I think Stants will play.

I hope he does.

Its a pain in the arse when every kid with some pace and class is either injured or returning from injury. I guess i'll just have to be patient.

Out: Camporeale,Stanton(inj),Monfries

In: Hislop,Dyson,Nash

farrrrrk Kepler Bradley..no way.

We are in a nice place atm on the ladder and I believe we can afford to play some young kids and test them out again (and I don't mean we can afford to lose)

Camporeale is finshed as an elite footballer. He was once a very clever, solid running mf,he is no more.

Monfries is really struggling. Its time to bite the bullet Angus and just go back and blitz in the 2nds for a couple of weeks. But of course, the EFC match selection mob will give him another chance and pick him again because they don't want to shatter is confidence altogether.

Bolton better be solid or else.....chop chop.

Laycock should be played without being dropped for a while. He is like a junior Q. Lynch. A bit unco and slow like Quinten, but both have a great pair of mitts to grab that footy. Laycock's kicking is getting better too. Give him time...as much time as KB has had...

I wouldn't drop campo, he as been alright the past 2 weeks against 2 brilliant midfields.

Stanton could still play, he has been ruled out for 1 week max. He is a determined man and i think the slight pain will not affect him.

Quinten Lynch is not slow, his pace is one of his assets. His hands, until recently, were one of his problems.

Unless Stanton passes ablitzing fitness test with flying colours I hope he takes a week to go surfing. If you saw the Crows vs. Cats yesterday you will realise what losing one of your best midds early in a game through risking him carrying an injury can do to your winning hopes.

Fletcher and Stanton in good shape
Monday, 11 June 2007
Essendon expects both Brent Stanton and Dustin Fletcher to play against Port Adelaide next Sunday - the last game before the Bombers take a well-earned mid-season break. Stanton (ankle) and Fletcher (groin) were cause for some concern following Essendon's heart-stopping win over West Coast but both had improved significantly by today and look certain starters against Port.

Fletcher has no soreness in the groin that was giving him some concern post-match. Stanton will face a fitness test later in the week but the extended break between games will give him an excellent chance of getting back to full fitness.

And the injury news will brighten even further following the bye. Courtenay Dempsey (hamstring), Nathan Lovett-Murray (groin) and Scott Gumbleton (hamstring) will all be available for selection. The outlook for Andrew Lovett has also improved and he may miss only one more match with a knee injury. Leroy Jetta has recovered from his groin injury and played for Bendigo today.

In other news, Mal Michael's fierce tackle on West Coast's Mitch Morton has not been deemed reportable. A statement from the AFL said:

"Contact between Essendon's Mal Michael and West Coast's Mitch Morton from the second quarter of Friday's match was reviewed. Michael lifts Morton and drops him to the ground during a tackle. Although the technique is not desirable, it was the view of the panel that Michael does not spear Morton into the ground and the action was not deemed to be reportable."

We are in very good shape

At the moment Laycock is an embarrassing excuse for a ruckman.

At the start of the Sydney game, he was getting pantsed in the ruck so we moved him forward. Then in the latter parts of the second quarter, his second efforts in the forward line were pathetic (completely disinterested as soon as the ball hit the gorund), and I think his lacklustre efforts contributed to Sydney being back in the game at half-time. Then I was keeping a close eye on him in the second half, and his effort was much better - I assume that someone stuck a rocket up him at half time. But remember this - total ruck contribution for the Sydney game = 4 hitouts

Against West coast, again, his ruck contribution was again negligible = 3 hitouts. Yes he took a good contested mark in the forward line, but DEFINITELY do not think he is contributing much in the ruck at all.

SO, what is he providing? A forward option? Well guess what, Kepler has been delivering on that front for several weeks for Bendigo AND provides more flexibility and mobility to be used around the ground.

Can't help but think - Laycock hasn't EARNED his place in the team. Kepler has been battling for weeks, and really DESERVES a go.

Is Kepler finished as a pinch-hit option in the ruck? On the essendonfc website he is listed as being only 2cm shorter than Laycock - can someone tell me if a growth spurt or some game-playing means that is much bigger?

I confess that Kepler is a bit unco with the ball, particularly when his confidence is down. It scares me to profess this support him, but I feel he has earned another crack.

At least Kepler has some heart about his play, and has a go at all aspects of the game. Laycock loses interest when the ball is not in the air.

Those calling for Houli can forget it , missed this week becasue of injury and wont be in line for selection.
Hislop wont play , he has had a left shoulder problem for a while and really struggled with it today. Came of late in the game carrying his arm pretty badly after streching to take a contested mark.

On todays Bendigo form Dyson , Heffernan , Nash, Bradley , Cole and Reimers where amongst the better players

In: Bradley
Out: Laycock

Bradley has been in great form for bendigo and i feel he could provide alot more up foward than Laycock on curent form.

Bradley also has the abiliy to pinch hit in the ruck so i dont feel we will lose much in that area.

MASSIVE DANGER GAME FOR US....

could really set us up...or drop us back in a big log jam fighting for spots 5-8....

i feel very uncomfortable...port own us....havent looked like beating them in years....

would need a big effort...if we win we will be 3 from 3 interstate...a tough ask

Out laycock, Monfries and Bolton
In Bradley, Lovett and Cole

Bradley deserves his chance on the HFF, Lovett we need his pace and cole need his composure in the back half, wing.

Laycock is struggling to run out games and needs more fitness, monfries is struggling and a couple of weeks with bendigo should help him regain form and bolton has done what he was selected for and just there against west coast.

It may just be me but Jason seems to be improving every week. he was a danger up forward last week and gave hille a chop out in the ruck. His body work around stoppages after a ball up is the best at the club. Im not sure dropping him now would achieve much not while his confidence is on the rise.

After seeing the Bendigo result I reckon we should do the following.

Out : Campo, Bolton/Monfries
In : Nash, Cole

McVeigh and MJ to play Monfries role up forward/wing.

Nash and Cole to provide a bit more run on the bigger ground.

Laycock can stay in as we might be able to exploit there defence going forward. Maybe Kepler for Laycock if we want a bit more run.

Isn't 100 % atm, has a shoulder injury but still played yesterday. Sheedy loves him so as soon as hes ready i'd expect him to get a game.
I see, hopefully he gets it right soon. Cant believe he slipped that far in the draft, you got great value for pick 19(?). Good to hear Sheeds see the class he has as well, was basically ready made with a build like he has, not many players come to AFL that solid ready to go.

Yep and he would of debuted had he not been suspended twice at unfortunate times when there was opening. Expect him to debut in the 2nd half of the season though.
