I agree let's see what he's got, but any player making the team (in this case Weeideman) should be given 3 games to show himself. Works the other way too, if you get dropped, at least 3 weeks to earn your spot back, not just one big performance at the lower level.

Who's saying we are gifting spots for development. Weid is in his 3rd season. By reports he's stronger than last season. Rawlings comments after round one saying that his improvement over the pre season suggest he may have earnt his spot. Let's see how he goes over the next few weeks before writing him off.

Definitely not writing him off. I think he'll come on well eventually. Performance comparison between Pedo and Weid at both AFL and VFL level however suggests Pedo is the better pick for us to strengthen our team. Weid might be looking alright but Pedo is looking better and is proven at the level.

I'm not saying writing him off completely, I'm mean writing him off for this game.

I agree Pedo has shown he can play at AFL level while Weid has yet. Pedo should of never of been dropped. That doesn't mean Weid hasn't improved this year and doesn't deserve his chance. His kicked 2 goals, then 3 in the practice matches in both impressive games, 5 in round 1 and 1 one last week in bad conditions for forwards. Reports from Rawlings that he has improved from last year and shown that during games. I don't think they are just gifting him a game, if they were gifting games he would of played round 1.

Has anyone actually seen Weid play this year to say that he's being gifted selection based on his development only?

If Pedo played yesterday's sort of game last week then I'm sure he'd be playing this week, but otherwise, they've been playing Weid in the Forward/Ruck role the last few weeks, and as much as our selection seems to be questionable more often than not, they're the ones with all the evidence, and we're going off a stats sheet.

Pedo has done little to no ruck stuff at training but Weid has been heavily involved in the ruck drills at training.
