I like these changes. I understand those who might have preferred Pedo over Weid, but at some point you have to back the young fella in and see if he rises to the challenge. Don't forget Sam has played in some of our better wins including over hawthorn in his debut and also the Adelaide game last year. He's played well at casey and the time is right.

Add Tyson back in which corrects our midfield, a reformed Hunt and Billy who's gone under the radar a bit but is also deserving of a call up and I honestly couldn't be happier. And the last time I was this satisfied with the changes was the north game.

would of preferred Wagner to go out instead of frost but 1 of them had to go. looks the best balanced team we've selected all year to me with a 2nd tall fwd and some outside running players for a change.

Yup.

Also keeps the Tiges honest - 1 key tall and 1 interceptor back, while there are two keys forward. One of Astbury or Rance is going to have to keep with Hoges all night which will be a huge challenge given how he's playing.

Wagner is one of the hardest workers in a team where that isn't a given. I think he sucks as a player (rarely impacts contests in the air so he should defending the ball drop) but I'm not that annoyed that he's got one last shot. At least he's not in at the expense of Hunt.

Sums Wagner up. I get why the coaches are into him - definition of hard worker. But his skills are uniformly pedestrian and unlikely to suddenly change.

yeah I think he needs to work on that, when to fly, when to stay down decision. quite often stuffs it up. just wish he'd stay down more and try to mop it up at ground level. that's when he plays best imo.

Haha, you're one of the biggest critics or stats and their implications going around mate ... you aren't wrong, but as I've said above, thats based on the numbers, there is simply more to it than that.

100% of the time you quote statistics, it's to serve your own nefarious ends rather than inform and enlighten people. You try to hide behind that affable moniker and put on a friendly demeanor but I know who you really are.

I have no idea what you're talking about ...

Weid in over Pederson is like Omac over
Dunn in 2016.

Not sure about Weid in for Frost.

Hunt comes in as small defender for frost
Weid give us the extra tall (in place of Fritsch) and relief ruck we need
Tyson and stretch give us more midfield depth as opposed to HFF pinch hitting

was against good VFL side in Richmond too. The Situation reminds me a little of start of last year when Weid played the first four games, played alright in the first 2 than had 2 quiet games in the next ones. Than Pedo finally came in and kept his spot in the side.

As a ruckman. You can count the number of good games Pedo has played for Melbourne as a key forward on your fingers, keeping one of your hands in your pocket

Sounds just like Frost, only without hard working part.

Frost has size and speed, but he is terrible 1v1 and his foot skills are diabolical.

I like Frost a lot more than a lot of the spare defenders we've had over the years. Don't know if he'll accept that or look elsewhere though.

Looking forward to having Weid spell Gawn in the ruck. Doesn't have to be good to offer more than Harmes would.

So game scenario. Riewoldt has Omac for company and then Nankervis drifts forward to rest, Lever takes him?
Or Riewoldt brings Omac up the ground so that it's an open 50 and Martin goes deep, Hibberd or Lever get him? I think we have made a huge mistake dropping frost. Would have dropped Wagner for team balance, now our backline is even slower than before and the Tigers have a mosquito fleet

I'm kinda excited to see Weideman again. VFL conditions are rarely good for talls and disposal efficiency inside 50 is likely worse than AFL level. I'm not hot on Goodwin at the moment but I'll back him with this selection.

He was a very early pick and we need him to really start developing.
