I thought he also did it v lions at the Gabba also a rd 23 game in 2015? I recall we played a young side. Maybe I’m mistaken.

If and it’s a big if, we can get the job done v tigers, I’d be inclined to rest en mass v port and reload v lions and crows.
Found it. There were only three changes (not the 7-8 suggested earlier for the coming Port game)
OUT: MBoyd, Murphy, Morris (all "sore"!)
IN: Roberts, Daniel, Goodes.
We lost by 8 points to Brisbane.

As with 2016 we were assured of a place in the finals and in 2015 it didn't affect our final 6th placing either.

I think those games where there was very little on the line are very different to mid-season 2020 when nobody has any idea who's going to make the top 4 let alone the top 8. Every victory is crucial right now. So is percentage.

I still say wholesale resting of players in one game won't happen over the next few weeks. Probably no more than two at a time, if that.
Further down the track the gradual availability of players returning from injury means we'll be making logical changes based on ability anyway.

Does suggest that he was putting his head over it though to cop a concussion. Hope it's not a bad one for him
He had a bad concussion last year when he hit the ground awkwardly after flying for a mark.
Repeat concussions are bad news as we know through recent experience. I'm glad they're being conservative with him.

You need to look at the season compared with a normal season

Normal Season
22 games 80 minute games not counting time on. 22 X 80 = 1,760 minutes playing time in a season.

Covid 2020 Season

I think we can disregard round 1 for wear and tear with 8 week break before the second game. So that is

16 x 64 minute games = 1,024 minutes

That is a reduction of 42% in time played for the season not counting the reduction in training with the shorter breaks and less games played.

Really players should be fresher than ever and that seems to be what they are saying after each game. No need to rest players with shorter breaks unless they are injured.

I can’t see them playing Schache, Naughton and Bruce in the one team. I am not sure Bevo would go for it. Altho I reckon we should try it.
The mobility and groundball ability Schache and Naughts could really split defences and Bruce deep to anchor it. Wallis and Weightman to bring the forward pressure.
Not sure Bevo would buy it either just think with time could be a good forward combo

There was talk over the summer that they were working on a three tall forward setup.

We

We went into round one with a very tall lineup so it would be possible however schache wasn't one of them.
It’s a shame Schache’s game hasn’t come on.

I can see him being traded as JUH looks to be an upgrade and we need draft picks with points to get JUH, Raak and super jnr.

At this stage I see only marra requiring a major amount of points to match. Super should get bid on late if at all. Raak could potentially get a bid as high as 25 but doubt it

If that rumour about us playing WC and FReo in Qld is true, i'll be whoop dee doing all day long.

Do not want to go over there and face them (particularly West Coast) in front of their crowd with our current team. Have a look what they did to the Piews who normally play well over there. Anything to salvage %. Finals are a different beast

As it stands we have a first round pick and two third round picks. If JUH gets bid on early all those picks will be gone.

No doubt Power has a plan but it will probably involve trading a player or two out for picks.

The West twins are draft age 2021 so trading into 2021May not work.

Interested in what everyone thinks is our best forward set up when we have everyone healthy?
West Naughton Vandermeer
Dale Bruce Wallis

Weightman, Mclean, Richards, Cavarra can role thru there as smalls.
Dicko is cooked and I personally don’t rate Lloyd and Suckling. Both too inconsistent and don’t offer enough defensively.

Bruce will be significantly better with a regular tall alongside him (play Schache or Le Young until Naughton is fit) and Dale is better as the third tall.

If Bont is a bit sore, could we just play him as a full time 2nd tall forward and rotate McLean and West through the guts?

surely Macrae, Baz, Libba, McLean Lipinski and West could hold it down in the middle?

Against the Suns Bont spent most of the first half at Full Fwd.
