No matter who McLean comes in for my first thought is "Well that's a significant upgrade."

Can't see why the match committee have a different opinion.

If we're assuming like-for-like selection and suggest Gowers must be picked by another medium forward and with Dale injured, the only other option was retaining Young for the same role picked.

I don't like it either, but there's some logic applied. Dumb logic, but logic all the same.

Gowers selection proves Bevo plays favorites and it’s a bloody joke. There is no defending how bad he was last week, he gave us absolutely nothing, and most of the other coaches in the league would’ve dropped him on that performance. Even Schache, as bad as he’s been, is more effective than Gowers. The joke has to end.

Very surprised Billy gets another chance but good luck to him. Would prefer West personally.

It is always harsh to bring guys in for one game and then drop them regardless of how poorly they play. Really hoping he takes this second chance. As I said last week, I haven't given up on him. The 2018 version of Gowers had things to clean up but was a decent player, plus he offers a lot of traits that others don't have. Hasn't shown anything like it since so I am beginning to lose faith.

Lloyd and McLean are both guys that I think are in our best 25 when fully fit and should be in with 5 or so important players out. Lloyd had a poor start to the year but am confident will turn things around. I haven't thought McLean was that bad but he is clearly doing something that the coaches don't like.

Not that surprised Young was left out but was expecting him to get another game. Thought he was better against the Suns than what he offered against Essendon. Still probably isn't offering enough though and his ball use was really poor at times last week.

Didn't want to stick the boot again but I haven't seen Gowers play a decent game for 2 years. In fact, he just looks less of an AFL footballer each time he plays. So, if he's being selected on form, I'm blind to the evidence. If it's about a specific role that doesn't include clean disposal, timing marks and kicking a goal or two, then I can understand his selection. I am hanging out to eat humble pie.

We really should win. Vlaustin out is big for them.

Screw it, I’m tipping us.

Go dogs.

Even with him out our forward line just doesn’t look threatening and seems as though not one of them will trouble the opposition.

Not as big on McLean as some others but you'd have to assume he finally gets some midfield minutes. With no La Young, Lipinski will probably play permanently outside with Richards and Vandermeer. Will be Toby's biggest challenge; getting Beveridge to change his mind on his position.

Gowers has not had more than 9 possessions in his last 7 games and half of them are turnovers and his form is appalling. It is not Billy’s fault he is selected but Bevo must stop having one rule for Billy and Co and another for Trengrove, Schache and McLean. if Schache did what Billy did he would never get another game.

Bit harsh I reckon. Was heading towards a 30 goal season last year prior to injury, kicked goals in 8 of the 10 games he played and kicked 2+ goals in 4 of those games. Besides a lower disposal average he was on track for a better year than 2018.
