Thinking about Gowers keeping his spot, I’m not too surprised by it. We’re obviously wanting two bigger leading targets and with Naughts and Schache out with injuries it makes sense Gowers is the man.

Glad they've kept weightman in. Was really disappointed with his game against the sun's and I know he was aswell. Hopefully he keeps his feet and gets on the end of a couple.
For the same reason don't mind Gowers getting another crack. But Damn he would want to fire this week and I would imagine he will know it

Bit harsh I reckon. Was heading towards a 30 goal season last year prior to injury, kicked goals in 8 of the 10 games he played and kicked 2+ goals in 4 of those games. Besides a lower disposal average he was on track for a better year than 2018.
Come on Charlie, don’t tell me you actually rate this clown? You’ve just lost my respect after that.

Hopefully Gowers can have a much better game if conditions will be a lot better. If he’s ineffective again, Bevo should just tell him to run through some blokes as he won’t be selected in the next few weeks anyway

I think most of us just want to see some of that form in 2020.
I liked what he brought to the table, some grunt and some goals.
Unfortunately it has been quite a while since he has made any impact.
This may be his last chance I reckon.

Hey Trengove still exists. On the emergency list, but on a list nonetheless.

Bont at CHF and JJ on a wing is a decent call.
While I would prefer Gowers out because I actually think he is a significant liability with the way he has been playing (that is he actually has a negative impact on our performance so literally anyone other than Gardiner would be an improvement), I am hoping he can at least break even and crash some packs and bring the ball to ground. What else can we hope for really.

But I love the look of that very settled defence and the centre line also looks very imposing. Love JJ on a wing actually.

The Bont at CHF is fair enough considering our lack of height up forward. Not sure what happens when he takes a turn in the midfield. Maybe that’s when Gowers is asked to at least play a part.

I’ve got a good feeling about this one. Have to keep Dusty in check. But we have generally given the Tigers a bit of trouble the last few years so hopefully we continue that tomorrow, although this time we don’t have Naughton to terrorise them like last year.

😂 Come on BS. He’s no world beater and I’m not preaching he should be playing every week but there’s definitely something there, so hopefully it all clicks soon as I do think he has the ability to be a very good player.
As I said in my other post, it’s obviously a structure thing as to why he’s in the side and on current form he’ll be back in the 2’s when Naughts and Schache are up and about again.

I just hope our relatively ok injury list can continue.

If Dunkley, Naughton and Duryea can come into this side for Weightman, Gowers and Suckling/Richards, then we should have a solid crack at the finals.

Weightman won't be replaced by any of them. Naughton will replace Gowers or whoever replaces Gowers.

Enough of the abuse. He’s doing his best and he’s a Doggie

Is Gowers really that bad? Last year in the pregame against us everyone was melting that Bev didnt drop Naughton and then he took us apart.

He's worse than Pol Pot, Hitler and Toby Greene combined

Apparently

Interesting to see who is kept in reserve for the game in Adelaide 5 day's later.
Suggest West and Schache play.
Maybe they willl save Tim English and Bont
A plane ride.If Dunkley and Sweet are ready.

I know that its a bit antithetical to all things Billy Gowers on this board, but I think that he was very close to finding touch last week and will be much better for the run this week.

Im Backing Billy..

Finding Touch? Hopefully someone has told him this week that he's playing AFL not Rugby :D

Even with him out our forward line just doesn’t look threatening and seems as though not one of them will trouble the opposition.

Do we have the worst forward 6 in the league? Without diving into it, my guess is we do.

Love to see some suggestions for worse forward lines (from teams named last week).

Gowers selection proves Bevo plays favorites and it’s a bloody joke. There is no defending how bad he was last week, he gave us absolutely nothing, and most of the other coaches in the league would’ve dropped him on that performance. Even Schache, as bad as he’s been, is more effective than Gowers. The joke has to end.
Amazing how someone who plays "favourites" has been so successful and been involved in so many flags over the last decade. I suppose you would know though.
