Is Gowers really that bad? Last year in the pregame against us everyone was melting that Bev didnt drop Naughton and then he took us apart.

I don't believe anyone on this board in the history of bigfooty has ever suggested we drop Naughton.

Suggestions of sending him back to defence sure. Naughton finished 4th in our BnF in his first season and was basically one of our most important players from day dot.

Also Naughton as a forward cops a heavy negating defender every game. In comparison nobody rates Gowers so he can roam around doing as he wishes. Often that means turning the ball over.

Do we have the worst forward 6 in the league? Without diving into it, my guess is we do.

Love to see some suggestions for worse forward lines (from teams named last week).

Have we ever really had an excellent forward line though (since the Eade era).

Even 2016 was super makeshift. Picken wasnt really playing much forward line prior, nor had Cordy, Stringer wasnt in peak form like he was in 2015 and Smith, Boyd, Dickson etc had career best patches of form.

In Naughton and JUH we trust.

I agree without Naughton we have the worst forward line in the league. Luckily there are lot of so so forward lines and the tigers looks much better than we do on paper but are not performing. Bevo never ceases to amaze with selection. I thought after his post match presser when he mentioned Gowers brain fade that there be no way we see him again. Pre-selection thought we might win in a close one but so sure now. Happy for Gowers to show me I am wrong.

Tigers look better than us on paper? They are missing half of their side.

Having one spud in our selected side (who has shown a hell of a lot more in his career than the 7-8 guys they have on training wheels) will not turn this game in their favor.

I was referring to the tigers forward line looking a lot better on paper than our forward line but tigers are not performing. On the rest of the ground we are looking pretty good.

Without DeGoey Collingwood's is pretty shite.

We don’t have anyone with the talent of Stephenson or Elliott IMO.
They have talent but their forward line as a whole has performed about the same as ours this season (both pretty bad)

Elliot has been pretty bad.

Mihocek has been their most consistent player up there.

Hopefully the conditions will better suit Gowers' natural game tomorrow night

Thanks, I was drinking a coffee when I read that - nearly choked trying not to spray it anywhere! What exactly IS Gowers' natural game?!

Edit: c'mon Billy, prove me wrong, kick a couple and work hard in the forward line. Or at least break even between disposals and clangers/turnovers/frees against - I believe in you. :praying:

He plays best with 50 knot crosswinds to correct his kicking.

Even at 56% game time, he still would’ve played the majority of those on the middle so there should be enough for Toby to get a 40% forward/40% mid gig this week, especially with Hunter out as well.

Gowers is a liability on the ground at all times so hopefully the changes are very basic this week.

In: McLean, Lloyd
Out: Porter, Gowers
Gowers in. NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Then again, no player can play so poorly two weeks in a row. GOWERS CAN! NNNNOOOOOTTTTTT GOWERS!!!

Bevo loves reading this blog for the melts. PRICK!!!!
