Very much so. I would be reluctant to play him unless 100% certain he is fine. I know that is a relatively meaningless statement as I am sure the club will go through the due process, but for a guy who has a history of these type of injuries, I would be worried rush him.

Can't afford to have him missing the finals like he did in 2005.

Byrnes turns it over a bit. Sometimes his disposal is pretty average, but it's not as bad as it used to be. He's been spotting guys up quite nicely in the last few games. Varcoe has showed a bit, but is far from cemented in the best 22.Although I wasn't too happy that a Hawk fan was rubbishing Geelong, I actually laughed at a description I heard last week of Varcoe's football. He said that he plays his football like a dog in traffic. He'll happily chase cars all day, but when he catches them, most of the time he just bounces off. When he gets the ball and the spotlight on him, supposedly, he reminds this guy of a small animal being blinded by the light. Give him time though - he will be a gun eventually. There are few on our list apart from the obvious, who I don't rate.

Atta girl! You tell them. Sexism is rampant - rest assured, you probably know more about footy than half the posters on BF - and yes, we are all on the same side. You don't have to justify having an opinion. I've aired my support for sticking with Shannon Byrnes for the time being - and we have a winning team, for God's sake - but it draws blood with some who don't just disagree - they go ballistic.

Oh, fair crack of the .... Chappy in, Byrnesie out. That's how it crumbles. Not a problem. Better player, a leader, has grunt at the right time, more nous, more adaptable. That's why I think we are fortunate.
However, it makes me sh*t-nervous to read posts about the Brisbane game - we've got Crows, Roos and Port to deal with after Richmond and we may need Byrnes and the rest of the 'fringe' to stay on top.
