wtf. Bail has been one of the better youngsters to play the last 2 games. To drop him cause he was pick61 while Scully stays cause he was 1 is ridiculous. I can't think of any other reason why you'd drop Bail as he is provding run which we need.

I'm not saying drop Scully because he's being solid without starring but Bail has been better.

I'd have a close look at Bate, Newton and Dunn. Dunn stiff but i'm a non believer. Bate will turn it around but may get a run in the magoos.

I'm not saying that I think he should be dropped, it's just a feeling I have.

He's one of the younger, more inexperienced players in a team that performed extremely well on the whole last week. Further, someone has to make way for Sylvia, and it's likely to be someone of a similar size, and as such, I think it could be Bail.

He would be hard done by if he was omitted, but so would most others, including Dunn as you mentioned above.

On a side note, Richmond has suspended McGuane, Polo, Connors and Cousins for next week, so that certainly won't harm our chances.

I would rather drop Bail than Scully as well. Needs to develop in the seniors, great fitness, and brings fans to the game (and god knows people are needed at the game to avoid the lousy crowds like last year).

Also (and this is speculative), there may be a flow-on effect with Scully not in the team - Trengove (and perhaps Bail) might get more attention (presuming that Scully has had more attention from opponents that Trengove). I doubt Bail would be playing as well as he has been able to if he had the No. 1 mantle on his back.

I love the JUICE.
BUT Bailey hates him and is only playing him because he doesnt have an option besides spencer, and there is no point playing someone who literally cant kick the football.

You need to reward results with selection. That should be part of the culture we are creating.

On that premise Scully would be the most vulnerable. FWIW I think he will be an out and out MFC champion but needs to learn settle before disposing of the footy. And he will learn.

A couple of weeks at Casey could be part of developing that sense.

Bail and Mckenzie simply can't be ommitted, they have earnt thier selection.

And only excellent and consistent footy at Casey for our young blokes will put you in line for senior selection. Exactly as it should be in a young players development.

"The incident followed Richmond's 55-point loss to the Sydney Swans, leaving the Tigers winless after three rounds and facing a resurgent Melbourne without a number of key players."

I love it how, after an impressive showing and one win, we are now 'resurgent.' The media swings more than my jungle gym.

Seriously, if we lose this.... It's got '07 written all over it. We have to lift from what we produced this week because they're going to have an ever poorer side than usual out there with a bunch of crunts probably playing out of their skin to save their careers.

In: Sylvia
Out: Bruce

Why can't Bruce be dropped, he has been really slow these past 3 weeks and is worse than Spencil (Thanks Super:thumbsu:) below his knees. Also Burton gave him an absolute bath in the 1st half. In the last quarter he had two getable goals (Not saying he was the only one!) and senior players should be stepping up at that time. AT LEAST KICK ONE!

Don't be reading into his disposal count, most of them are cheapies in the back pocket.

I hope Bailey doesn't drop any of the youngins because they are playing so well at the moment.

My thoughts exactly. With the suspensions everyone will be talking us up as certainties, which we should be, as long as the players don't buy into the 'it's only richmond, we'll have an easy one here' theory

Difference between now and 07, we are coming off years of absolute shit football whereas in 07 we were coming off finals footy.

Hope I'm not too premature with this thread, don't get me wrong, I'm still loving that winning feeling!
But who comes in and goes out against the Tiges? Here is my take on things:

Out

Bate-Tried hard and kicked a couple but for most of the game he looked out of place. I think he needs to get some confidence up in the seconds. I really like this kid, but he doesn't look AFL standard at the moment. He had to run his absolute full measure into that open goal, to me that says he's lacking confidence in his finishing ability.

In

Sylvia I think he can fill the gap that Bate leaves.

For mine, Juice tried pretty hard and he provides us with a decent target up forward, keep him in maybe one more week I say, but I won't be surprised if some of you guys want him gorn.

Moloney didn't play that well, but I don't know how well he'd benefit from a run in the seconds. He was just really slow today.

Scully might also benefit from a week off.

Or do we keep a winning team as is?? :D

Garland IMO was a terrible selection and Burton flogged him, but I thought he got into the game more in the second half. If team structure allows I would keep him in but remember Adelaide are taller than Richmond.

Scully was good without being outstanding and should be ok.

Dunn was wasteful but is finding his feet in the forward line again after spending seasons tagging. He's in.

Moloney was hard and done alot of tough stuff.

Ok I'll just say it.

In Sylvia or Steff. Steff can ruck play forward and go in the backline.

Out; everyone knows who I think should be ommitted for good.

Not sure why so many people are calling for Scully's head after 3 games, I think we need to give him time, dropping him to Casey will only set him back. Having spoken to a good friend who plays AFL and for the early part of his Career was swapping back and forth between AFL and VFL he said it generally takes about 6 weeks to really get used to the speed, skill and intensity of AFL football. The team looked really good on the weekend but still struggling for options in the forward line which is why I think we should bring in Sylvia and drop Bartram.

That makes sense, the kid plays one of his best games for a couple of years and then you drop him. That will do plenty of good for his confidence. Sorry, but plenty played far worse than bartram.

It has to be a 'senior' player imo.

The options are Bate, Dunn, Bartram and maybe Bruce.

I am not a beleiver in Bartram and Dunn doesnt impress me often either, but I would drop Bate and start sending the message that you need consistant good form to stay in our senior side.

Garland hardly played on Burton. Macdonald lined up on him at the start of the game and bruce spent a fair amount of time on him as well. and we all know that Frawley toweled him up at the end of the game

Thing we have to keep in mind is team balance, i don't think dropping Bartram for Sylvia is an option becuase Sylvia doesnt play in the back pocket or possibly as a tagger. Someone mite be in the 22 most talented players at the club but that doesnt guarantee them a spot in the best 22 on a Saturday, becuase you need balance.

For example, Sylvia is defeinitely in our best 22 and if fit needs to be selected, however this could be at the expense of Dunn or Bate, who are better players than newton, but the fact that newton can play as 2nd ruck is what gets him in the side and why a more talented player like Dunn or Bate miss out.

What about Jones, improved his game on the weekend from the first two rounds, seems to have flown under the radar so far in this thread, which is un usual.

Richmond out-
Connors
Cousins
Polo
McGaune and also Richo is not there anymore.

Keep Newton cause one of there best backman is out,
Keep Garland cause no real forward that will beat him besides Riewoldt or Simmonds, but Warnock and Frawley will go to them.

Maybe Sylvia in for Dunn or Davey if he is unfit cause his hammy.

Its funny cause this time we want to pick our best team and win:D

As I see it its like Round 4 last year reversed, in that Richmond have nothing to lose and will definitely play better than they have the last 3 weeks.

Losing to them will be inexcusable. As the media noted of Freo this week, they won a game they were expected to win. This is the first time we've been expected to win in three years so should be interesting to see how we go.

Lets not forget either about the first half on Sunday. We were dreadful. Play like we did in the second half, and we will win and win well. Play like we did in the first half and Richmond would be a big chance to towel us up. This is one of maybe half a dozen games the Tigers could possibly win this year, so they will be confident going in regardless of who they dropped this week. We need to stay focused and continue to work hard. We still haven't kicked a big score this year, so that has me a little worried and watching the game Sunday, our kicking into the F50 still is very poor. Richmond are definitely a chance to knock us off, so Bailey needs to again get the players up.

Jamar will need some back-up in the ruck. Can Watts perform that role?

Not against Vickery and/or Simmonds he wont. He effectively rucked solo the last few weeks anyway, he'll monster those two.

I'm not sure how serious I am about bringing Watts in. I just think if there's ever a game where he could get the exposure at AFL level that will do him good it's against a woefully out of form Richmond.
