FB- Warnock - Frawley - Macdonald
HB- Grimes - Rivers - McDonald
C- Jones - Sylvia - Trengove
HF- Davey - Bate - Green
FF- Pettard - Newton - Bennell
FOL- Jamar - Trengove - Moloney
INT- Scully - Bruce - Dunn - Bartram

In: Sylvia, Rivers
Out: Garland (Is some what of a liability to us until he finds some match fitness/form), bail (Came down to him and Mckenzie but i really lyk mckenzies attack at the ball and his tackling which won it for him for me)

When Morton, Jurrah and Wonaemirri are available for selection again... could have a little problem :p although shouldnt really look to far into the future haha

Personally i don't think you can drop Bartram for Sylvia as the play different roles in the team. We have a tall backline and Bartram has played on the opposition dangerours small fwd the last two weeks.

Sylvia would come in for someone like Jones (my preference) or Dunn or Scully as he plays in the midfield and accross half fwd.

Like wise Newton won't be dropped for Sylvia, as we need him as a second ruck. Newton will only be dropped for another ruckmen (PJ/Martin or Spencer).

I could understand if the club decided to drop scully, all he needs to work on is his hitting targets by foot. We all know he can find the footy and his hands are great, his kicking has let him down. The club needs to decide whether it will be more beneficial to improve this at VFL or AFL level.

I'm just glad he's not employed by us anymore. that was a great trade, get rid of Simmonds for life and only put up with one season of Craig Ellis. that will go down as one of the most one sided trades of all time

???? I thought Ellis was one our best till he went down with injury.....

I consider this one a bit more one sided :D

Steven O'Dwyer (born 19 January 1966) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne in the VFL/AFL.
A redheaded lanky ruckman, 'strawbs' O'Dwyer won the 1988 Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Medal for Melbourne's best and fairest player, helping the club reach their first Grand Final since 1964. He missed the decider however after being suspended for striking Carlton's Steven Da Rui in the Preliminary Final.
O'Dwyer was traded to Richmond for a draft pick (Darren Kowal) at the end of 1991. Injuries forced O'Dwyer into retirement a year later only managing 5 games with the tigers.

Once again Richmond helped us out taking a ruckman off our hands. Even though Kowal was never a world beater he at least played 105 games - putting us 100 games in the black.

Melbourne Team
Backs: McDonald, Warnock, Frawley
Half backs: Bruce, Garland, Dunn
Centreline: Trengove, Davey, Bartram
Half forwards: Green, Petterd, Jones
Forwards: Sylvia, Bate, Bail
Followers: Jamar, Grimes, Moloney
I/C: MacDonald, McKenzie, Scully, Bennell
Emergencies: Newton, Spencer, Cheney

Team Changes:
In: Sylvia
Out: Newton

So there we go. For me it means Brad Green plays almost entirely as a forward this week, Dunn plays more like 25% in the ruck and will almost certainly have to do a few centre bounces against Vickery - we have to look after Jamar. Sylvia plays across half forward and some time in the middle.

Wow, they actually did what pretty much everyone on this forum was calling for. Happy about that lineup :):thumbsu: cant wait to see Sylvia in action again

Maybe that was the last we'll see of Juice or Miller

I am not a big fan of Newton but i would have liked 1 of him or Miller to be in the team.

Would like to have 1KPP in the forward line and with only 1 ruckmen we cant use Jamar up there either.

6 changes, I also read somewhere Jackson was under an injury cloud?

I agree if you ere at the game (and watched) Newton is so far off being a AFL footballer its not funny. Scully (and the young kids) are the best at hitting the target by foot. The older players should get some tips from them.

I really think a few people here should go to a game and see the run off the ball .. If anyone said Newton played well .. they should lay of the drink .. he has had his last chance .. pitty we didnt get Black in the draft just to try something else.

100% Newton out ... Blind freddie in .. i saw a couple od AUSKICK kids have more impact than Newton had.

He is a good VFL player but we dont need them ...

Most seem to be happy with juice being ommitted but earlier in the thread there were plenty that were liking what newton was producing on the field.

To my mind this decision is DB informing juice that he is not part of our future plans.

I didn't think he was horrible the last two weeks and he at least made a contest when the ball went forward. Furthermore he was able to lend assistance to the Russian.

I suppose if you gotta drop someone though. He is still far from an afl footballer.
