I dont want to come across as a Trengove basher, but he played off half back where we play this chip around game and more than half of his touches were in this space. What worried me more was watching him lumber after Carlton forwards when they streamed forward. He is so short on pace that his only real genuine position should be as an inside mid.

We can get away with him playing there against Carlton, maybe even the Saints. However, imagine JT chasing Dan Butler or Castagna at the MCG in a final....

Still a pretty small sample size. He was involved in some important moments and read the play really well.

I don't really care about SANFL form with DBJ. He wasn't dropped because of form. It's hard to go back to a lower level of football and adjust to a different pace and playing with a whole bunch of teammates you've never played with before. He should come straight back in.

We've gone through what would be small forests if written on paper, expounding why SANFL form means nothing for the likes of Toumpas, Neade, etc. Yet here we have a player that has been in good form, dropped for non-form reasons, and people want to go to SANFL form as to whether he should play or not. o_O

It’s more a perceived attitude thing though, isn’t it.
Compare him to Watts And Rockliff

He was dropped for disciplinary reasons and then played in the SANFL with a poor attitude like he'd cracked the shits. If we were playing a final next week you probably bring him back, but for a home game in July against St Kilda I'd rather take the opportunity to ensure that standards are enforced. I'd be pretty disappointed if he played this week TBH. He hasn't earned it.

Yep. 100% this. It's not a matter of him having to go back and get 30 touches or anything like that, it's a matter of him earning back the trust of his teammates with a committed performance at SANFL level. As soon as he does that then he should come straight back in, but he didn't do that last week.

I see dbj as better defender and faster but Trengove is way better with the ball and at creating play. The both deserve to be in the side but I think Trengove has more upside.

DBJ in 4 me. JT out. We need his speed.

Jonas in. Hombsch out.

I'd play Marshall for a couple more weeks, if no improvement bring Watts in for a run up to finals.

Aidan J in. Same as above play for a few weeks, if output is low, bring Lindsay in with a run up to finals. We know Lindsay will be good to go.

Seriously consider giving Ryder or Dixon a managed rest.

Should be one of the more interesting melt er selection nights considering which of Watts Marshall Trengove Pittard Jonas DBJ are selected
Want DBJ to come in for his agility but want JT to stay because of his composure . Want Watts to come in because we need a tall forward target because Marshall is down on form but want Marshall to stay because we desperately need him to get into form for finals.

I get the feeling we have quite a few players who are restricted through minor injuries. Seemed evident during the Carlton game. Would be good if we started resting some. We seem to gave the depth.
I actually believe the Melbourne game was brutal and both teams were flat the following week. It was played with the intensity of a final and it showed for both of us. They lost to saints and we almost lost to Carlton. I think we will bounce back strong this week.

We did keep Jonas out.

Trengove definitely should play. DBJ has dropped and played poorly in the SANFL, no way has he won his spot back, his only chance would be in Pittard goes out injured and considering he isn't listed as injured or "assess" that seems unlikely.

Jonas walks in if fit, Hombsch listed in best so who goes out is an interesting one.

Watts should come back in, probably Marshall, but id give Sam Gray a run in the twos and give Marshall one more week.
