I thought this was an interesting comment from a Saints supporter, he's still thinking of the 2015-16 model....

IMO Port are another front running team and don’t come from behind too often. Saints by 23pts.

Literally just remembered i'm a groomsman at a wedding on Saturday and won't be able to make the game. Worse because I really didn't want to go to the wedding to begin with and now the weather looks like it's going to be horrendous and it's an outdoors ceremony. Hilarious planning in hindsight. Outdoor wedding in the middle of winter. Nice.

Was this the one where you had to dance with the bridesmaid?

Apparently I don't. In fact I don't think anyone has any idea what is going on because there have been no rehearsals and generally no information provided to anyone outside of the invitation (which got their names wrong).

Boak is playing a pretty thankless role by the looks of the comments on this thread, he plays an extremely hard and tough role. He might not be getting 30 touches and is as zippy as he was in 2013 but he rolls his sleeves up and goes to work physically every game.

I know he is a fan favourite and i love him too but Marshall was very quiet on the weekend, it's hard to pick him based on form. I'm leaning towards giving him one more go but he is massively on notice.

Jonas in for Hombsch.

Watts very close.

It's going to be an interesting week at selection.

I'm pretty well on board with the Watts for Marshall sentiment. As much as Watts needed to get back to the SANFL to just get back to basics and get his hands on the pill, I reckon it's Marshall who is at that point now. I'd be surprised if this swap doesn't happen.

The back line shuffle intrigues me a bit more. History suggests that if Jonas comes back it'll be Hombsch who makes way. Whether they choose to give TJ another week is the bigger question.

DBJ's SANFL form becomes largely immaterial if Pittard doesn't get up with the hamstring. So you bring back DBJ and Trengove can still keep his spot.

Looking forward to the injury update to get a clearer picture.

Lienert for Pittard could be an outside chance.

I'd be resting Ryder. Was beaten comfortably by a kid on the weekend. If we want him at his best in September we need to manage him. Should be beating st Kilda comfortably without him

No.

The nature of his injury dictates that rest is a bad idea, and that one week of rest will not do anything to help him and may possibly hinder him. He needs 12+ weeks of rest to get over this issue, which is time we don't have.

If Ryder needs rest at all then put Dixon in the ruck and rest Ryder forward. Also allows Charlie to get his hands on the ball.

In the words of someone on the match committee when the question was put to him around resting Ryder last weekend especially with Kreuzer out... 'We need Ryder playing'.

So consistently jumping and the enormous amount of stress from hard surfaces on a inflamed tendon is better than running a few laps on Saturday? Surely a fortnight off wouldn't hurt. I understand what you're saying but this could get pretty bad by round 23 and surely a trip to Perth next week wouldn't help.

We should not be resting anyone. We're still scrapping out wins, and need everyone playing their role to do so. I wouldn't take anything for granted this week. The Saints showed what they can do against Melbourne and will have their confidence up. They will also seek redemption for the last result against us at AO, which would not have been in our favour without Ryder.

Ryder to play.
Jonas in.
Watts in.
DBJ in.

Would him playing more time forward rather then ruck help, hinder or be no different either way? (If you know). If it'd help, then more reason to bring in Watts, so Dixon can ruck and have Ryder, Marshall, Watts as our talls forward of centre.

However Thomas is getting on and we will need a replacement for him who do you suggest in the future

Aidyn Johnson, Kane Farrell, a new recruit, an inanimate carbon rod. Age be damned, I'll back Thomas to stay on our list longer than Neade does. Both are out of contract at the end of the year, but one deserves a new contract much more than the other does.

Yeah that's how I see the changes too.
So that would mean.
Hombsch
Marshall or Sam
Pittard or Trengove out. Pittard would be my choice.
