I dunno. Just not seeing anything to make me think he's gonna make it, ala Moore, Young, Neade, Impey...

He's too fleeting I guess.

Has way more of a defensive mindset than Moore and Young and hes also quick and has a bigger body than the other two you mentioned. Has all the attributes, just needs to find more of the pill. Having played just 7 games there's time..

Yeah, but I'm still not seeing anything that says long term AFL player is a probable outcome.

It's a feeling, nothing more. It's a feeling that hasn't let me down in the past.

That's fine but surely you agree that he needs more time to show his worth? By gee did Impey and Neade get a good go at it.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at by 'happy to see him get a run'.

I just don't want to see us ummm and ahhhh over another guy that just isn't going to become 22 for us, and also isn't happy to be a career fringe player ala Paul Stewart. Impey and Neade have gotten too much of a go at it.

I think there's enough time for AJ to prove me wrong.

I guess Hombsch at least knows he’s next in line. Such a super fella.

Hombsch really is competing with Clurey for a spot in the team.
At the moment it's Clurey, but that for me is not an automatic selection. Clurey's Achilles heel is a lack of pace (but good endurance). While there is not much in it, Hombsch is slightly faster and with similar defensive skills.

Changes make sense, and I think lead to a more balanced side than last week. Johnson adds some much needed pace and pressure, and obviously Jonas coming back holds our backline together. Personally I think we look more balanced with one of Johnson/Neade etc in the team. There's been a lot of comparison between Thomas and Neade, but in reality they play different roles, with room for one of each.

A little disappointed to see Hombsch dropped, but it does make sense with the quality coming in.
Hope Marshall is back pretty soon, disappointing to see him dropped but completely understandable. It was good to see him hit the scoreboard last week but we know is capable of much more.

Lade mentioned during the week he's versatile.

He should not be half back. Lade mentioned wing?

Still think Rocky could kick plenty if he spent more time forward.

Trengove will play Sam Gray's high forward role IMO.

As for Rockiliff - if he's going forward to rest instead of going to the bench, sure. But that would mean that we aren't playing Thomas, because if Rocky is going forward, that means Lindsay has to go to the bench and you might as well rotate Rockliff through there if that's the case.

In fact, Thomas playing means that Rockliff, Gray and Wingard rotate purely through the midfield because he can play the deep forward role, and you'd rather Wingard or Gray going up forward than Rocky when Thomas goes off to rest.

Agree but....

Maybe the coaches are finally flinging off the gold card thingamajig and realising they can drop anyone ( maybe) ....

Maybe they are hoping to Rockcliff him....
Maybe the coaches believe we now have the depth to be able to drop players.
I hope the naysayers, Walls, Judd etc. a made to eat their words at the end of this season.

Aidan will be a gun - if his body holds up. Has played significantly less game time than most due to constant injuries.

If fully fit this year, I think he would have played every game so far.

He is worth a shake, to see if he can contribute come finals. we miss his Player type in our forwardline. I think team balance wise, he is a better fit than having 2 slow cumulative mid types. Eg SGray/Boak
