I was about to comment that with Hirdy we should look at the big picture, rest him this week so he is right for the Anzac day clash so that he gets about a 10 day break on either side and helps prevents possible injuries...

Then I thought about an even bigger picture. Play him this week, he gets sore and can't play the Anzac day clash, so he has to play on next year to get an Anzac day swansong.....;) :D

I would keep Hird and Jetta in the side... Hid firstly becasue he can win a game of his own boot in 20 minutes of football... And also Jetta becasue its a lot harder to take care of 3 quicks9davey Lovett Jetta) than 2.. and i believe he can take some attention off the other 2.. and if they dont show him respect we know he is more than capable.. Give the kid one more week..

IN: JJ, NLM, maybe Hislop... Get some toughness in the side
OUT: Pevrill, Hefernan, Both has beens and not going to be the future off essendon if were going to win a flag in the next 2-3 years..

See how Johns goes for a while and if he can kick goals. 3+ talls in the foward line might not work so he might only get a go for one week. It will be mighty hard for Gumbleton to break into the forward line.

i don't think nlm will be ready for this week

i thought dyson was pretty good against carlton.

if we are bringing in a third tall forward we will need jetta in the side to crumb and to make sure the ball doesn't come out of our forward line too easily

In Johns, Hislop
Out Hille or possibly Laycock, Jetta

Johns deserves a spot in the side after kicking 7 in the vfl and showing a fair bit last year. Now is the time to test a 3 pronged forward line in an actual game.

The biggest problem with the current team is in the middle. Against Carlton it was basically Watson, Hird and Pev (None of these players should be omitted) in the clearances against the Carlton midfield. We need more grunt in the middle and Hislop would help considering his form in the vfl. JJ should also be considered.

Hille has had two bad games in a row and deserves to be omitted. A number 1 ruckman of his size and age should have punished Carlton for puttng Lance in the ruck he didn't. Done little around the ground in the last 2 weeks. Laycock wasnt great either but he has just returned from injury and he showed a lot around the ground in the Freo match, so he should get the nod ahead of Hille. Ryder showed a lot in the ruck late so I am confident he could cover the number 2 ruck spot.

After a good first game Jetta has faded. He had virtually no impact on Saturday.

i am happy to drop a ruckman but i think laycock would go out before hille. he doesn't look match fit to me a couple of full games in the vfl would do him good.

we need to keep a jetta type player in the side. i know we still have davey and lovett, but jetta's pressure would make sure that the saints don't bring the ball out of our forward line effortlessly just like they did against the dogs.

if jetta is going to get dropped we have to replace him with a runner. bring in the great man courtenay dempsey

But if you think about it having Johns in would force St.Kilda to have a taller backline. Personally after last week i feel Johns has more to offer than Jetta.

i would have them both in

if jj comes in we don't need heff in the side and that would allow us to keep jetta in if we drop a ruckman

Out : Hird (rest), Laycock, Dyson, Jetta
In : Bradley, Gumbleton, NLM, Camporeale

Hird needs to be rested for Anzac Day.

Laycock was woeful on Saturday and as St Kilda have mainly run-with ruckman he might be obsolete anyway. Bradley to follow Blake around the ground.

Gumbleton becomes the 3rd tall in attack.

Dyson and Jetta dropped to make way for some experience in NLM and Campo.

Don't be surprised if Lucas doesn't play either !!!

Mate do you want to win this game???

Mate do you want to win this game???

yeah I agree, we have to play the best 22. If anything rest players on ANZAC Day against the weaker team... ANZAC Day is just like any other match, there might be a medal for the best player but its still worth only 4 points like every other game including the one against St Kilda

just heard on SEN Gehrig offered a 1 week suspension due to bad record.

So at this stage, we can assume he is out.

If this changes your opinion of the team or not I dunno.

JJ has to come in. his form last week for bendigo was great as is his form against the saints. laycock has to stay in and imo ruck most of the game. hille will be needed more on anzac day and laycock can certainly ruck against the saints. Im not too fussed if jetta get dropped or stays in but i would prefer he gets another go, just to put pressure on the saints coming out. I dont think johns can work with lucas and lloyd in the same forward line as when it hits the deck they will run it out to easy imo. As for the player to come out, R Dyson

It would, and it's not like they have any proven quality talls to match up on them is it? Since Hudghton and Maguire are out at the moment.

If Lloyd, Lucas and Johns lined up in the forward line who would match up on who?

Lloyd - Fisher
Lucas - ???
Johns - ???

The only other 2 i can think of is Blake, and Kosi might be forced down to the backline, who would match up on our forwards?

Probably Goddard as well

Probably Goddard as well

Im liking the looks of this then, our forwards better make the most of this. Nowing that Stkilda only have one quality proven KPP in defence (Fisher) i definately think Johns should be included into the team, we could cause them HUGE nightmares having those 3 forwards in our team. Gehrig looks to be out, so that's one less worry. The only the i think we have to worry about is the midfield, if we can break even in the midfield we will win, if we can beat them in the midfield......it should be a pretty convincing win!
I think we can defiantely beat them.
Who do people think will matchup on who in the midfield?

Baker - Winders
McVeigh - Hayes
Harvey - Hird
Slattery (but he could also get Milne) - Dal Santo
Stanton - ? (Ball if he plays i suppose)

Ball should play, he couldv'e played last week but they decided to give him another week just incase.
Baker one of the best taggers in the game, i hope he doesn't take Winderlich out of the game because he's been awsum lately.
Winderlich is that good he needs a tagger.......:) :D :thumbsu:

How good does McVeigh look in the midfield!!!! :D

I think it might go something like this:
McVeigh - Dal Santo
JJ - Ball
Peverill/Watson - Hayes
Winderlich - Baker
Stanton - Harvey
