Not a chance in hell they will drop Pev. was one of our best players on the weekend.

Why do our supporters continually want us to play players straight up or almost straight up into the seniors.

MAKE THEM EARN THEIR SPOT

Examples.
Laycock: Most wanted him straight into the seniors after his hamstring.
Played well first week, played poorly last week, now the calls are for him to be dropped. Some want him gone for Johns others for fitness form.

IF he was played for Bendigo he would now have had 2 weeks in there and MAYBE found some good form and if not could have been kept there until he did.....make him earn it

It's possible we MAY NOT have beaten Freo without him, but we will never know that.

Hislop: From memory has only played in the smallstars game and was in the modified group for a lot of the pre season.
Comes back and from all reports was very good in about 3 quarters of footy for Bendigo.
Out come the calls for him to be included this week
He is not ready yet and needs to earn his spot.

JJ: Another that had a very limited pre season and came back last week for Bendigo and apparantly played quite well.
Out come the calls for him to be included
Give him at least one more game for Bendigo and make sure, as much as you can, when he comes in he is ready

Campo: Same as JJ....has shown he is not ready yet, play him for Bendigo until he EARNS HIS SPOT.

Of course there are a lot of things to consider in selection, matchups, balance, resting players, fitness, form etc etc but there is more imo to be gained from making players hungry and sending a message to them that their spot in the team is not just a right, but a spot that needs to be earned.

Would have thaught ten years of consistent performance and a best and fairest would be enough to earn his spot once he gets himself fit (which a solid game in the reserves suggests he is). You cant put him and hislop in the same category of needing to ''earn'' a spot

Read my post please.

You will see i put EARN their spot against every player except JJ.

Having said that he, like any other still need to earn their spot, just not to the same extent as untried, unproven, inconsistant players.

Yes it is not ideal but the reason there has been calls for Hislop and JJ is because we need more in and under players. Because this is the main area where we lost it last week.

In: Johns
Out: Laycock

Johns has been the unlucky one to miss out for the first three rounds, unfortunately it's Laycock's turn to be unlucky. St. Kilda will go in with a reasonably small forward line, meaning Paddy Ryder won't be required as a full-time defender and allowing him to have more time in the ruck. With Laycock not desperately required for a ruckman position, we look at him as a possible 3rd tall forward but he looked lost their against Carlton and Johns would fill that role far better.

I'm expecting Jason Johnson and Camporeale to come in for ANZAC Day. Having just overcome injury, the short recovery would hurt them and they would benefit from a few more days to get ready for a senior return. Who goes out for them? The St. Kilda game should tell us. At the moment, Camporeale would probably step into Dyson's place but who to axe for Jason Johnson is a tough question. For JJ's type player, Peverill is the closest. We would not want to compromise speed, meaning Jetta could well hold his spot. Unless Pev puts ina good display against St. Kilda, he may be on the chopping block. The only way to avoid dropping Pev would be to play JJ as a small forward and drop Jetta, but we need JJ in the midfield.

With the way hille has been playing why on earth would anyone want laycock dropped? I no he hasn't had the best start to the year but i think we should persist with him for another two or three weeks. As for droping anyone this week how bout mal micheal just to give him a kick up the arse that he needs. Just looks a bit disinterested at the moment. Anyone agree?

I agree with Laycock over Hille in the ruck at the moment, but if Laycock were played he'd most likely be out up forward, in which case Johns is more suitable.

Yeah, Michael does seem a little disinterested, but I think a stern word from Sheeds would be a better move than going without him for a game. Maybe as a last resort drop him, but otherwise I'd rather keep him round.

If fraser was playing Michael would have a perfect match. Nice and slow... Shame really.

I think we need to win it out of the middle and get quick clearances, so i think JJ should come back. All we have to do is break even with their midfield or better and we should come away with the win because i think we have them covered around the rest of the ground. We've been scoring 100+ points since rd 1, and last year we had an average of 91points per game (which was without Lloyd), i just don't see how the Saints will be able to kick around the 100p mark, Riewoldt will probably kick around 5+ a few from milne, where will the rest of the 10 or so goals going to come from?
Thats how i see it anyways. Anyone share the same view?

Stretch their defence.

Neither Laycock or Hille have been particularly outstanding in my opinion. They both need to improve.

no matter what happens at the selection table this week the following weeks selections will be very difficult

jj, campo, hislop and dempsey are pushing for selection
nlm and welshy will have recovered from their injuries

now obviously they can't all fit in the side and unless we suffer a few injuries there may be a few blokes that are very stiff to miss out on selection

Welsh is still listed as 2 weeks away from injury reports.

If J.Johnson has a good game this week then he surely would play against Collingwood.
Dunno about Camporeale, give him another week.

Theres a link to an article on Rama on the dreamteam board.
But the more important thing was that it mentioned Winderlich having a hamstring strain and likely to miss the next two games.

I was gonna get him into my dream team. But this has happened. So i may hold it off... thoughts?
