Resting Hill would be a bad move.

Imagine, playing 2 bad games, then playing a terrific half and apparently (with Halesby) led the charge for the Freo fightback then getting dropped (and/or rested). Suban shouldn't be rested either.

Head, Keppler then Soloman OUT

:eek::eek: - no, White does not have a bigger body than Gardy or King - FFS, he's almost as young as Clarke. And Jolly is hardly a brick outhouse either.

Jesse White is 196cm and 105kg, he might be a kid but he is built and he knows how to through his weight around. While Jolly also weighs in at 105kg.

I dont want Hill rested, but it is likely to happen in the next few weeks. Would love to see him playing closer to goals occasionally. So creative and looks threatening.

Forgot Kiwi too, hope his knee is pulling up well, love seeing him get angry and crashing packs. A bit of enthusiasm would be welcome.

Perhaps but what he is so good at is receiving in space on the wing accelerating and delivering into the forward 50 or, when he gets more confidence, kicking the goal himself from 50. We've seen him do that already.

White played most of the season for Swan ressies in the ACTAFL last year - I've seen all of those games, plus two of his pre-season hitouts and all of the Swan's regular season games this year. He is a kid, he does not throw his weight around, and he is consistently beaten by agile players at bounce-downs, throw-ins and marking contests. Clarke will beat him easily.

He is being groomed as more of a CHF than a ruckman - if he was that great they wouldn't have signed Pyke or Orreal... If we are scared to play Clarke against a youngun like White then we might as well keep him in cotton wool for the next two seasons and wave goodbye to him when he goes back to Victoria to sign for a team that plays him.

We desperately need more energy n the forward line - either or both of Campbell of Mayne would be great, but I think they'll both be out for another week if the WAFL injury reports are correct??

Agree - Hill needs more game time, preferably on a half forward flank, not a break. The resting can happen later in the year...

Yeh, I know, but Hill, Suban or Boughton getting rested would be a bad move.

Hill's 11 possies and a goal (and goal assist) in the second half was very impressive, especially when he had an injury with his pinky finger...ROFL

It will be interesting to see your team sheet next week and IMO Hill, Suban, Boughton should not be dropped nor rested (and I'm not saying this because I need them in my fantasy team as I don't have the latter two).

5 CHANGES! McPharlin should be ok I think. Dodd, Head and Gilmore - absolute crabs! should be dropped. Soloman dropped for his pathetic effort last two games. Hunchback out of form - see ya! Duffy shouldn't have been dropped and comes back in along with 7 goal Murphy or Campbell(Taz will need to go back to cover Kosi). Lets also see what Clarke can do! We don't have much of a chance to win and are looking at the spoon this year, if we take some risks and play more kids who knows what could happen!

B:Hayden Tarrant Grover
HB:Johnson McPharlin Broughton
C:Ibbotson Haselby Duffield
HF:Mundy Pavlich Suban
F: Peake Murphy/Campbell Hill

R:Sandilands Palmer Crowley

I: Hinkley, Deboer, Schammer, Clarke

In: Deboer, Hayden, Murphy/Campbell, Clarke, Duffield
Out: Gilmore, Head, Dodd, Soloman, Hunchback

What I want to happen:
OUT: Head, Dodd, Gilmore, Bradley, McPharlin
IN: Hayden, DeBoer, Duffield, Clarke, Drum

But very unlikely. Doubt the latter two of my ins will play if they play WAFL today, and Dodd won't get dropped. I'm sure he has been earmarked for Riewoldt, especially if McPharlin is suspended and we have to send Tarrant down back.

We are going to get absolutely smashed. Both physically through the midfield and on the scoreboard. Crowley/Solomon only get a reprieve just for their strong bodies.

We need a bit of stability in our side.
Yesterday was a much improved performace, making major changes is not the way to go in my opinion.

Out: Head,McPharlin (susp)
In: Duffield, Hayden (Campbell if Haydos not available)

Soloman needs more game time to build his confidence. Same with Gilmore.. (These two missed a lot of football remember)
Dodd was solid yesterday.. Johnson has been ok, and the kids were great yesterday, so let them develop from that.. Too early to be resting them..

I would prefer to bring Clarke and Deboer in with debuts at Subiaco rather than St Kilda at the Dome..

The fact that their WAFL clubs play today rules out Drum and Clarke for the Saints game Saturday.

Is there a rule (official or unofficial) about this between the WAFL clubs and Freo/Egirls? If not, are we seriously saying that two (young) AFL listed players can't recover on nearly five days rest (it is a night game on Saturday after all). I understand where you're coming from, I'd just be very disappointed if we didn't pick them based on the vagaries of the WAFL schedule.

Crowley, Dodd and (if he is retained) Solo-man have really important roles to play against the Sainters - a chance for them to show they can still play well at AFL level.

No rule.

Clarke's playing the 3rd game of senior footy in his life, it would be a big ask to expect him to go from playing against kids last year to playing his first game of AFL on a 5 day break.

Drum has a history of injuries so probably wouldn't benefit from a short turn around. His form has been mediocre anyway.

If you're a defender but can't be trusted with an opponent, you shouldn't be playing. Watching Johnson play as a loose man pissed me off more than anything else that happened. Particularly when 2 goals resulted from him making simple mistakes in the fourth quarter. The guy is 192cm and 94kg, rather than making him work hard and play in a position we are lacking, he just gets to crusie around doing whatever the hell he likes week in, week out.

Solomon, I'd also appreciate if the next time you're suspended you spend a little bit of your time learning how to kick. Thanks.

Thanks Dom - I'm never sure what the arrangements for AFL players going back to the WAFL are. Agree on Drum if his form is down - but I'd still like to see Clarke picked on Saturday. He has the tank.

Was MJ actually being played as a loose man in defence, or did the Crows just work themselves free from him? Couldn't tell from the TV coverage.

Do any of our players ever practice the very basics of kicking (ie not having kicking drills or shots for goals, but closely doing the basics of ball drop, follow through etc...). Other sports (soccer, rugby, NFL) have lots of effort on the very basic parts of the kicking action in practice - do we? FFS, Josh Head not being able to kick on his right was just embarassing...

out:
Gilmore- with extreme prejudice, dont just drop him, mock him for just how shizen he is and then demand half of the money he has robbed from the club back.... disgrace to the jumper
Head- no good, at 26 your either good or a liability. back to the bullies
bradley- not in great form
mcpharlin- suspended

In:
Murphy- give him 4-5 games, leave him at FF, and tell him that it is his last chance, either kick goals or we wont ever play you again, leave him on the ground for 100% of the game, dont put him anywhere other than full forward
hayden- amazing how little direction and skill our backline has had without him
Clarke- i dont see the problem with giving him a go as long as he plays ok for the royals today.
Duffield-played well for the bullies, i dont agree with most on this board, he HAD to be dropped, it wasnt for his skill level (which has been poor) but because on two occassions last week he absolutely shit himself and didnt do the hard thing required of all afl players at different points... you cant condone weak acts... ibbotson got dropped after his piss poor effort against carlton last year, duffield is no different and should know better. either put your body on the line, or ask to be traded to west coast

i think it would be a big mistake to drop either of hill or suban, hill has really struggled for confidence and form in the first two weeks, and finally in the second half of the crows game he found the ball, kicked a goal, used his speed and in general showed exactly what the club knew he could do... to drop him now would only shake his confidence. put him on the wing for first bounce against the saints

suban looks a jet, has great decision making, and even better skills, he is in our best 22 and has a hard body for a kid, why then should we drop him?

broughton is 22 and did enough to suggest he will be a player, in the side unless his form drops dramatically

Seriously we are going to struggle all year
I know some kids arent ready for AFL yet but if our mid range players have shockers they must be dropped an replaced by them.
Let them know that sort of crap wont be tollerated anymore Your position isnt safe in the team.

Also Mcpharlin im not so sure he will be suspended.
If you look at replay he was in the air before the crows player marked it.
It was just another of his silly mark of the week attempts

Dodd is a role player. Dodd was on McCloud Yesterday. Keep him pretty quiet.

Soloman should be dropped on performance, but will probably come good in the next..Keep in..We will need the physical presence against the Saints.....In reality, Solomon should have had a run or two in the Wafl first.. but his Pre-Season form seemed to be OK. He just looked from both games to be lacking fitness or touch..

Gilmore needs another run at Souths....He just looked like he wasn't up to the plan.....The Wind was playing tricks with all the kicks though.... But at least Gilmore is one who always presents himself when someone has the ball...I hate seeing some who just are running to a spot and not looking at the person who has taken the mark....At least Gilmore gives us an option...OK, I;ve change my mind....keep Gilmore in...and let him run the lines. But he needs team mates running with him....Thats one of our problems..

Hayden for Head

Duffield for McPharlin

Move Taz back, Duff in middle

Mundy in the Forward line....With the way we bomb it in, he can just pretend he is a spare man in defence and go the ball... Using his marking talent...

I think the Saints will not show up.....perfect time to go for the win...

MJ was definately being played as a loose man. After MJ mistimed an intercept when he was dropping back - which resulted in a goal - I thought he was about to switch back onto a player. Nope. He was just walking past a crows player on his way to guarding space. Accidentally came within 5m of an opponent on that occassion...

I think the only ones that should be considered for "IN's" this week are Duffield and Hayden.

Head, Hinkley, Gilmore or Bradley should be the only ones considered for dropping.

We need pace and mobility, so whilst I think Hinkley isn't quite up to it yet, I'd play him and leave one of Gilmore or Bradley out. Gilmore gives more flexability so perhaps Bradley should be the one to go?

Head should go, but as long as Harvey goes with his current game plan, he'll play.

Providing De Boer has a good game this week, he should debut rd 5 at Subi vs Sydney. Clarke to debut a week later in the Derby if he holds his form?

If Roger is fit he starts.
Head goes no matter what.
Gilmore should get another game. he was out gunned by Tippet who is a giant and pretty handy to go with it. Made Happy look like a boy. If Gilmore was told not run off his man then he followed instructions. If he purposely didn't attack ( most of the game) from defense then he'll be lucky to be on the plane this week.

Just in regards to Roger Hayden, I was in freo for the buskers festival on Saturday and poked my head into freo oval. 2 ppl were there one was Roger Hayden and the other was Im guessing from a distance "robocop". Hayden was just running lap after lap after lap, at a pretty good clip too.

Didnt look to be hampered by the hamstring, at the time I thought he may have been doing a fitness test and a late inclusion yesterday. From what I seen he will be back this week.
