Whats all this crap about players needing rests? they rotate more than ever before.
Moore should be able to play every week, he is a seasoned AFL player.
Dimma is clearly showing his intentions. Rest is an obvious new form of player management. First we had the (Leg) in the Out column, then the admission we are resting when Dusty missed the Cats game. Good on Dimma for his player management. And he also said at the presser Vickery is being rested until after the split round.

The game isn’t the same as even 3 years ago. Even with rotations, I reckon they actually take more out of a player. Next time your at a game watch how a player ‘sprints flat out” off the ground for his rotation, he i knackered when he get off from the sprint. Then when he is on the field, he is literally going at 95% Nasons 20k last week was a classic example.

I wouldn't be opposed to giving Nason a rest. It was a very tiring game, and despite his 3 goals he wasn't hugely prominent and was cramping up at the end of the game.

The only one i could possibly see out would be King for Foley if fit and probably Polak for Simmo.:

In: Foley, Simmonds
Out: Polak, King.

I hope they keep Giffiths in. Showed plenty in a quarter, 5 disposals, 1 mark and 1 tackle before being rested for the rest of the match. I reckon he will play on Friday night in conditions much better suited to him. Hopefully.
Spot on. I concur 100%

Opposition and conditions for mine.

King attempting to move and dispose through St Kilda's zone, where they are most effective scoring off turnovers, and the fact the game is at Etihad Stadium are two things going against him.

I too would have

OUT: King, Polak
IN: Simmonds, Foley

I do wonder about the fitness of how Griffs thigh and McGuane's collision with the post pulled up and that might lead Thursty back in.

Has it been reported anywhere that Simmonds would get a farewell game? I thought he had retired immediately.

If we want to be nice to him let him have the 3 games he needs for 200 (I think). Personally, I think if he has pulled the pin already then he should not get a farewell game. Would have been better to have approached the club and said 'I want to leave' and if they offered, then let him have a farewell game. And if they say no, then that's just too bad for him.

This week I say King out for Foley. That's it.

Keep Polak in to plonk at CHF at the start of each quarter and then give Astbury and Griffiths a shot once the sting is out of the game.

Kings efficiency has been spot on in the last 2 weeks. His games as a tagger have been faultless. Davey, Pierce and Rodan all scalps. He seems to have changed his game. Not loose anymore trying to do everything and kill everyone. For the first time I have seen, he is playing very disciplined footy. If he keeps it up, he will be with us next year for sure. This week he is a monty to line up on Milne.

Im also thinking Rance will come in to tag Goddard. Just a hunch.

Given Griff didn't play the second half I'd suggest he might miss the week to give Simmo his farewell game, if Foley is right to go then Polak goes out for him. Against the Saints at the Dome we need more runners than talls.

I'd like to see us lining up as follows:
B: Moore McGuane Farmer
HB: Edwards Deledio Newman
C: Tambling Cotchin Webberley
HF: Astbury Riewoldt Cousins
F: Nahas Simmonds Nason
R: Graham Tuck Martin
I/C: Foley Collins White King

Then round 12 vs WC
B: Moore Gourdis Farmer
HB: Deledio McGuane Newman
C: Tambling Cotchin Jackson
HF: Astbury Griffiths Cousins
F: Nahas Riewoldt Nason
R: Graham Tuck Martin
I/C: Connors Foley Webberley/Edwards Vickery/Browne
Sorry big fella, but i hope your wrong. Polak and Simmonds for a straight swap and Foley for Collins (and maybe Thursty in for one of McGuanes testicals). I don't really want to much change now, let the team gel. Really want to see the Griff stay in, as the Saints have a fair bit of height with which we will have to contend with. Delidio will have to take Goddard out for us to have a chance.

IN: Foley, Simmonds
OUT: Polak, Farmer (a tad unlucky).
Hahahaha, he'd have to be more than a tad unlucky, his best game yet and, despite being caught out a couple of times, has started to look extremely effective and comfortable in the new zones (probably why Leppa likes him so much, also a reason he won't be dropped). His has been one of the most impressive improvements and there were a few times I can remember applauding him for leaving his opponent to back up a teammate in a contest.

Before Farmer goes we have.....

Tambling, Polak, Collins (first game back, no, not likely), Griff (keep that thigh and shoulder safe from big, angry bodies), Nason (rested, ineffective in first half of game and tired before the end)

There should be no changes barring injury. Then and only then Foley, Post and Thursty should be the only consideration as possible inclusions. Simmonds definately not.

Prowler, tell me what Polak did that warrants staying in the team? He's a straight out for Simmo, 6 effective hitouts and a dropped mark isn't exactly good or even average. Can't see any outs for Post (as his form was in the forward line, not CHB) and Thursty will only break into that backline if McGuts pulls up sore.

Tambling had another ineffectual, soft, crap game.... 12 disposals at 50% efficiency.
His only goal came from a hugely over-staged free kick that was quite frankly embarassing.
What's the excuse for him this week? Compartment syndrome reacts badly with water?
First to go.

People talk about trading McGuane who literally puts his nuts on the line for the team, but think Tambling must not be considered for trade.

Farmer played a good tough game - well done mate..... but that was on a Heavy 10 Track in the country, which suited the chunky, dour unit he is.... this week its back on top of the ground and up in class... and we need pace.

That means White stays, as does King... who although they have obvious limitations do deserve their chance under DH, and do have pace.

Edwards has been good the last few weeks when taken out of the backline. Also quick and evasive so he stays.

Bring in the class of Foley and Morton (as DH said tonight on Fox, he's in the best 22 and just needed to learn some lessons back in the magoos).

In: Foley, Morton, Simmonds (if we must)
Out: Farmer, Tambling, Polak

If another tall needs a rest (Astbury or Griff) then reward Post with another chance.

overly harsh in tambling
i thought he played his part, applied pressure, head over the ball
should hav recieved a free kick in front of goal for that tackle on pearce in the last quarter
no chance he will be dropped

If Simmonds is well respected within the club then I'd strongly recommend a send off game. Improves team culture.

Polak will have to go, although I don't like giving him a go for one week then dropping him.

I also don't know who will go for Foley, I know Nason is 20+ but he has worked hard all season in the best league and therefor could use a rest.

It's just great we are having trouble dropping players for others to come in.

! how will we cope? I cant remember having such a problem - it has been who has put their hand up to come in for all the outs everyone wants for so long I cant remember having this problem before.

Give Simmo a q on the ruck and then plonk him in the square with Jack, maybe he can go out with a goal or 2, rest up Griffo if needed to recover

Agreed Kapital, whilst Simmo is a lumbering beast nowadays, he looked dangerous up forward before being dropped. Let him go out in style.

Also, similar thought occured, what happens when the day comes that there are no more "Changes for next week" threads, or at least, ones of the Geelong ilk... Out: None haha
