You guys realise that tb hasn’t even played 50 games yet and is copping the best forward every week.
Most defenders at that age struggle against big forwards.
Agreed, but i think he's almost made some good progress this season, he's a much better player now than he was in round 1.

I think the "guys" you mentioned are trying to analyse who is the best defender on Franklin, not assessing Barrass ‘s performance/development as an inexperience player.(Less than 50 matches?!). That is no credit for being young or inexperience.
We want to make a change to beat the Swan.

Shep Barrass Hurn
Duggan Govs Cole
Jetta Redden Gaff
Venables Darling Lecras
Rioli Kennedy Ryan

Nic Nat Shuey Yeo

Lycett Sheed Ahchee Cripps

Unlucky Waterman but I'm running a Richmond like fwd line which was supposed to be the case but Rioli missed Rd 1. Kennedy missed first few rds which enabled Waterman to play then Liam Ryan and Venables got injured and Waterman held his spot. Now Darling goes out injured and Ryan comes in but then Venables and Darling in a week or 2 after. If you go back and think like this then Waterman has been lucky to get this many. He's a good player and I'm a Claremont man but Im not bias. I think these x factor smalls are the go they all kick goals.
I think one of Masten and Hutchings will be off the list next year. Lecras will go too. Petruccelle needs a go.

If we are keeping Govs then Brander is Kennedy replacement and I'd say he will come above Waterman in the pecking order soon enough.

Also excited to see Hamish Brayshaw.

That is exactly the problem!
We are here to find the best defender on Franklin, not assessing Barrass ‘s performance/development as an inexperience player.(Less than 50 matches?!).

Yeah and you think a bloke who has missed a whole preseason as well as half the season is going to match up well on Buddy? Emac is a long way off from AFL and won't be called upon this season unless we have injuries. Schofield is next in line and he's touch n go for next week as well.

Round 1 our whole defensive system was leaky and that lead to us having someone 1v1 on buddy on so many occasions and Barrass wasn't the only one caught 1v1 against him and lost. Since then our defence has tightened up.

And the change we want to make is to pick a guy who hasn't played a minute of footy since September?

Forever grateful for his efforts in the elimination final last year, and his overall service to the club, and he deserved All Australian over Alex Rance that year, but his time has passed.

Barrass is one we should keep investing games in. With a bit of luck he will be our next 10 year full back.

Picking him for Sydney is crazy. Picking him again this year (barring a huge injury crisis) is also crazy. And I am sure Eric Mackenzie himself understands.

Who has also done absolutely no preseason

I think he's basically doing his pre season now. Which would make playing on Buddy at the SCG his JLT Series.

Sounds ideal, doesn't it.

Wouldn't mind seeing shep going to him on the odd occasion. Has the pace to with him on the lead and has in the past nullified taller players in the air.

Not quite!
Most "guys" have mentioned EMac have not played for a while and is not new, but certainly none of our existing, recently selected tall defenders are a good match up with buddy!
Some innovative selection or strategies are required.
We cannot commit the same mistakes again.
That is, winning 66-17 hit out , but losing clearance and hence balls delivered to the isolated Franklin( loosely guarded by the slower weaker, defender) often enough to give up 8 goals.
A stronger, faster, negating defender is more suitable!

And which currently available WCE listed player do you see as being that stronger fastest negating defender?

Jetta doesn't have the endurance to play on a wing.

None except EMac and whether he is fit enough only the coaches know.
A negating defender does not necessarily need to start in the WAFL.
He has toe problem and strictly speaking is not a serious injury.

If he wasn't fit enough to play reserves for East Perth on Monday then there's no way in hell he'll be fit enough to play on Franklin next Friday night. I don't think you need to be on the coaching staff to realise that. You just need to have at least half a dozen firing neurons.

E-Mac needs another month in the WAFL to be ready for AFL. No pre-season and a long term injury needs careful management. Barrass will be selected Schofield is his potential replacement. E-Mac would get smashed by Buddy as he has no match fitness.
dude even longer. Didn’t he have issues in both his feet?
He’d be managed for a month and then after that they will lift his work rate.

Key backs usually spend the most amount of time on ground and eMac is known to go games without a break. Atm he’s no where near doing that at any level.
He’d be cooked by half time when buddy runs him up and down the ground.

You severely underestimate the importance of preseason and match fitness. Even the best players in the comp would struggle if they were in emacs shoes.

It is poor but someone as small as Poppy does make the angles awkward with their relatively low centre of gravity. Tom is pretty poor at expecting contact and positioning himself well. Riewoldt got him with bodywork several times when we played Richmond.

good point the only real flaw in TB's game that needs to improve ..

Why do people keep campaigning to drop Waterman the bloke is one of our hardest workers if we weren't selfish last week he could have kicked 5 presents all day
It wouldn't be a changes thread without campaigners calling for Waterman to be dropped.
Coming up to round 12 and it hasn' happened yet. Luckily the MC knows what's what.

Big ridiculous isn’t it?

Adds so much to our structure.
