Given the talk coming from the club the past couple of weeks about Ryan aiming for the sydney game and now with Darling making way I think Ryan is a moral to take his spot.
Shuey to come in- Sheed or Hutch to make way.
Masten probably likely- he only had a strain and actually played most of the game with it so I image the 2 weeks rest would be enough. Nelson probably the unlucky one if Masto comes back in but I would personally like to see Jetts be given some tough love- it worked for him at the back end of last season and I reckon complacency has crept back into his game. Need to sharpen him up with a kick in the arse.

If i were in charge:
Ins: Ryan, Shuey, Masten
Outs: Darling (inj), Sheed, Jetta.

It’s often easy to get frustrated at players who look “disinterested” or don’t seem to be putting in the effort or whose skills are down. A great example was my annoyance with gaff last season. My point is that it’s easy for us to say player x or y needs a rocket but in actual fact they may be playing with niggles/soreness. I think it’ll be easier to judge these things in the first few games after the break
His kicking into F50 is still good. I reckon we should move him away from defence and make him a designated kicker from the wing/HF.

Yep, Lecca was a prime example - played most of last season with a hip injury and was hung out to dry! Now look...
Often with Indigenous players they have a relaxed almost casual playing style that can be misconstrued to be lazy
and indifferent...having said that, Jetta needs a rocket! He should play much better in 2nd half. He has been
tried in other positions and he likes this role-and performed well earlier..maybe sore, maybe between the ears?

No previous game worries me like this game - can we shut down Buddy
and approach it with a different plan on the narrow grounds?
Would expect to see a fired up rejuvenated team after the bye, back to their very best.
(but you could say that with most teams after the bye?)
Am hoping to see the 'A' team unveiled in this second half of season, go up another gear.
Don't need youth for this game, need experience and hard heads for a tight in close
high pressured struggle.
Ahchee is improving each game but nothing outstanding, a good mark, could be a brett heady?
needs to break a line, kick a goal, lay a hot tackle, follow up more..it will come or squeezed out?
If no Darling, Masten, Ryan, I'd say unchanged plus Shuey.
But in 2 weeks time, after a bye, the team changes could be anything?

If Brander comes in then Id like to see him play Watermans role and Jake Play Jacks role. It wouldn't be a bad idea lessening Jake's work load a bit and plus Brander him self said this “If I played for the Eagles I’d probably look to play a bit higher up the ground and be the connector from the back line to the wing sort of position".

You don't need three talls up forward at the SCG, it's a bloody postage stamp ground.

Ryan for Darling gives us the best balance.

Shuey for.... Hutchings? Club seems to like his role though. Ah Chee adds a better point of difference IMO with his marking ability.

Agree with all that. I don't get the Hutchings love he's very one dimensional. And in a team built around good ball movement his average disposal and slow decision making hurts us when we have the ball.

THIS. It's the one AFL ground where you don't really have a centre half forward line anyway. JK will play slightly higher and Waterman roams up the wing.

Ryan for Darling.
Shuey for Nelson.

TBH I agree but id rather see Petch over Ryan. Would like Ryan to play at least one wafl game. Think Petch's pace at the SCG would be a very good asset to have. Bit Swans having Garry Rohan.

Probably due to the need for a defensive midfielder for balance.
Against a side with A grade/elite midfielders in Sydney, you should give them the respect they deserve by having someone sit on their most damaging mid.
Not everyone can play a shut down role as well as Hutchy and he's in the side for this reason.
Taggers aren't generally known for the silky disposals.
Unless you have the one of the best midfield groups in the comp, a tagger should not be out of the equation.

My thoughts as well. I reckon the ins should be

In Shuey, Ryan, Petch, Masten (if fit)
Out: Nelson, Darling, Hutch, Achee?

At the SCG we need pace and running power dont need to have 3 talls

True but I'm not sure taggers are necessary much of the time. Even moreso when you have Shuey and Yeo in the middle given that the other team has to be honest with both of them and given that Yeo is a genuine 2 way player and can shut down and run off elite mids. If we don't need to tag, Hutch has no real role and his limitations then make him almost pointless

Agreed, which is why he's been in and out of the team this year based on opposition.
Last week against the saints is an outlier, due to sending a message to Sheed plus Shuey was never going to play.

Out: Darling Jetta

In: Ryan Shuey

Wouldn't be opposed with swapping Waterman for Brander too, although I don't know if that will be too many changes to the forward line.

We need to make sure that we stand someone on Buddy's toes at all times. He was the difference in round one

Will take a huge team effort to stop him

I say leave Jetta in.

Hopefully the boys come back cherry ripe after the bye and bring the huge intensity we showed in the 2nd half against the tigers

Shuey, Ryan and Petch in
Nelson, Darling and Hutch out
Pace injection
Just means Waterman comes out for Darling once fit.

I'd leave Nelson in to help out with the Swans' small/medium forwards. On the SCG, that type of defence is likely to be just as necessary as intercept marking. I also think Hutchings could do a job on Hannebery, who's not in great form and has been known to get a bit frustrated. I didn't hate Jetta's game like others here apparently did, and in Sydney he can kick it straight from the backline into a scoring position. So Shuey back for Ah Chee (or possibly still Sheed) and Ryan in for Darling. Someone will also have to make way for Masten if he's fit. We'll start to find out what the coach thinks about our best 22 once the squeeze for places is on...

Outs: Jetta Darling
Ins: Shuey Ryan/Petrol
Masten needs 3 weeks if its a proper hammy so rest him.

Ryan is the type of player you don't waste at WAFL level he has the magic and comes straight in if fit enough massive x factor and extremely tough match up. They have Smith as a brilliant lock down defender who will go to Lecras but that will force McVeigh or Jones to play on Ryan which would be a massive win for us imo.

Jetta is less useful on the SCG and would rather have Nelsons defensive capabilities on the smaller ground.

The key to winning is to ensure players like Grundy, McVeigh, Lloyd and Jones are accountable and not allowed to sag off and intercept mark or break lines.

Heeney Hanners Parker Hewett and Kennedy is a solid mid line. Be interesting to see who Hewett goes to i think maybe Gaff.

Cant wait for this game will be a cracker

Wellingham offered more the Jetta has.
Time to move him on. Fair to say we are all tired of his lazyness.

We got Shuey and Ryan Masten coming back.

Jetta is an easy choice to push out and for a few weeks at least. He needs to learn consistency in the wafl. If not he should be delisted. Not seeing much of a future with him.

In: Shuey, Ryan
Out: Nelson, Darling

Hurn Barrass Shep
Duggan Gov Jetta

Cripps Redden Gaff

Lecra Waterman Ah Chee
Rioli JK Ryan

Ruck: Nic Nat Yeo Shuey

Bench: Lycett Hutchings Sheed Cole

- I would hold off bringing Mallen or Brander purely because 3 talls wont be needed for such a small ground. If Waterman is sore then bring in one of those two players.

- IF Ryan is not ready bring in Pet for some speed.

- Jetta has been thrown all over the ground and i would back him in for one more game before being dropped. I really think his best spot is in the backline where it helps release Hurn. Plus he would know how to play this ground well.

- Hutchings to tag one of their mids.

- I want to see Ah Chee in the guts to combat their bigger midfield. We also have Yeo in there so for once we have a decent sized midfield with Yeo, Redden and Ah Chee.
