Buddy was a late out tonight with supposed hamstring issues.

Wonder if he will make the trip up.

Just on this, Longmire sounds pretty uncertain if he'll get up. Sounds like he'll definitely be a bit ginger if he does.

"It is just a very minor strain and I am hoping he will be OK for next week," coach John Longmire said.

"He had a scan at eight o'clock on Friday morning and it wasn't too bad.

"We spent a bit of time talking about it, umming and ahhing about it, but we just didn't take the risk."

"He was disappointed as he was desperate to play and he is a massive competitor," Longmire said of Franklin.

"I am not sure how it looks for next week. We hope that he is OK, but we will see how the week goes."

RE Dan McStay:

- Equal 15th in the league for contested marks (3rd at the club);
- Equal 18th in the league for marks on the lead (3rd at the club); and
- Equal 23rd for marks inside 50 (3rd at the club).

Whilst I'd agree it would be nice to see him do more, I'd say as far as key forward statistical indicators go, he's doing just fine. It's just what he does wrong is so noticeable.

Would be unfortunate for Swans if he plays next week and injures it more at the 5 minute mark of the 1st qtr and they r down 1 rotation for the remainder of the game in our heat...................

It's obvious he's going to continue to get a spot so looking at the positives if he's playing that lock down defensive roll he's got one of those bodies that can really hurt the opposition if he throws it around strategically ,something that has improved in his games this year.

If Andrews is fit he could maybe come in for Hodge, although I reckon we'll give him and Matho a week to get back to match fitness in the 2's.
IMO no way Harris Andrews would come back in through the 2's, on the other hand if we play really well v the Swans Matho might struggle to get his place back in the side and have to play 2's.

Harris hasn't played up to his very high standards this year without being ordinary . I think how we match up depends a lot on whether Buddy plays or not . I think we're looking to have plenty of tall defender options within a year or so. Darce also showed some of his old form on Saturday. I'd rather Harris miss another week if there's any doubt at all

Well if we keep selecting him then I guess it's clear that Fagan doesn't consider him a passenger

The game is far more complex than most supporters know. If McStay is keeping dangerous intercepting defenders quiet than he is doing his job. Having said that it would be nice if he tidied up his goal kicking.

There's a difference between missing another week (possible) and coming back via the NEAFL (very unlikely).

i just came here to wish you guys good luck this week. there's not much optimism on our board at the moment and rightly so. every run must come to an end eventually, so enjoy the win and i hope to see your mob go deep into finals this year.

These are the sort of games we should be winning and winning comfortably from now on ie. games against the also ran's of the competition.

Excellent summary. I agree, it would be great if McStay tidied up his goal kicking and hadn't dropped those marks early in the last game, but I'm certain his KPIs aren't that related to goals.

For those looking to get McStay out of the team I think Marcus Adams getting back to fitness in a month or two may be your best chance. With Walker playing well Adams won't come in down back imo.

Adams will make a difference to our forward line imo . Just the sort of strong target that could add a few goals . Plus very strong inside.

I just hope he can get his body right.

Like others, if Andrews is fit he comes in but for lester (didn't do anything wrong at all but not first choice).

Mcstay just has to go for me. More than happy to change forward structure. I'm sure the vocal minority will say he is a whipping boy again but he is not doing even close to enough to hold a spot. Spilt marks and terrible goal kicking.

Wooler or Keays to go a little smaller
Give Wooler ago. Showing alot of class.

Yep agree with this and bungalowbill. If he averages 3 shots at goal a game then we need 66% accuracy. 2.1 from a big forward isnt asking much.

I wouldn’t be making changes unless Harris is fit. I think after 4 changes this week we’ve freshened up the team - which was something I was concerned about with so few changes in the first few rounds.

Wooler definitely sounds like he’s putting his hand up - but isn’t it great to have a team that has Players knocking on the door and not getting in rather than one that has to gift games to players to see what they can do.

So if we play finals then he plays the whole season?
Yep. I think the approach will be if he is fit he will try to get every last ounce out of his final season. Last year was different as we were out of finals after first four rounds and we needed to look after him for this year.
If he has a slight niggle they may look to rest him. Given where we have come from there isn't any 'easy' games for us to rest him. This is just my view.

I also have the view that if we lose a few games quickly and fall out of finals contention Fages will switch tact and look to blood a number of young players.
