Prediction changes v Sydney

How stupid is it that the two games of the round Syd vs Freo and Hawks vs Port are on at the same time?

Meanwhile the enthralling Melbourne vs Richmond has the Friday night slot all to itself. Come on AFL.
They clearly need to get more fluidity into their schedule. Surely the timing can be changed as long as the venue and day still stays the same.

Their midfield bullied us in the final last year. Parker went head to head with Fyfe and I think won that contest. I'm looking forward to Fyfe making amends.

Barlow and Mundy were more or less ineffective. Hill needs to work through the Cunningham tag who usually keeps him to 15 possessions or less.

Most of our midfield didn't Fire and yet we were still in it late in the game. Two guys who kept us in the game didn't play against West Coast. I thought Mzungu was excellent in the final last year and Silvagni punches above his weight. As good as Silvagni is, Mcapharlin is better. I'd play McPharlin v. Franklin inside 50 and Johnson outside 50. With Ibbo floating in front. Johnson has such a good read on the game he'll be very influential up the field.

Mzungu has to come in, purely for the Hanneberry matchup. He matches him for run and has quelled his influence on a number of occasions. I'd back Mzungu ahead of DeBoer or Suban in this particular match up. I'd put Clancee on Kieran Jack.

Kennedy is a real worry. Jetta's outside pace also a concern. Sydney has one of the few midfields in the league that matches us for size. **** their salary cap and academy. Though I think our 3 pronged tall forward line will tear their ageing tall backman a new one.

Rance to Sydney?

Crowley has had the match up with Hanners every time.

The AFL's scheduling for Friday night games this year is beyond stupid. Last week it was Collingwood Vs St Kilda...yawn. This week, Mel Vs Rich and if that isn't enough to make you switch over to Better Homes and Gardens, then wait until next week, it's Collingwood Vs Carlton.

I assume it's based on wanting the Melbourne clubs with the biggest memberships to draw in the viewers. Collingwood and Hawthorn have 6 Friday night games and both Carlton and Richmond have 5. The Western Bulldogs don't feature at all and there is not a single Friday night game that doesn't feature a Melbourne team.

What they seem to ignore is that fact that people don't want to watch boring games featuring the worst teams (Carlton) over and over. Personally, I have no interest in any game featuring Carlton or Collingwood (except ours) and will immediately switch off. If they're trying to cultivate an audience, they'd be better off considering that the vast majority of Friday night viewers don't support either of the two teams playing. People tune n on Friday night to watch a good game of footy. If they think Collingwood Vs Carlton is going to improve their viewerwship, they're either stupid or extremely short-sighted.

It's also very unfair to the smaller teams to forego all the prime time spots. Friday night would surely be the best time to attract new supporters to a club, and who gets the most of all this exposure? The big 4 Victorian teams. Frankly, I'm amazed that Freo, West Coast, Adelaide, Port, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, GWS, Western Buldogs, StKilda, Melbourne and North Melbourne actually put up with such a significant commercial disadvantage.

I just want to see reasonable match up on Friday and a fair spread of all the teams from top to bottom, not just Collingwood and ****ing Carlton every second week.

Personally don't really mind us not getting many, if I had my way most of our games would be on either Saturday night or afternoon.

Bulldogs are the most exciting Vic club to watch at the moment and they get zero Friday night games.
I have to admit I share this sentiment. They have been very exciting to watch this year. Reckon they might be a real hard team to beat in a few years time.

They are getting injuries now and I expect, unfortunately, that they will not be as nearly interesting from now on.

he looked shattered lol
I think the exact quote (taken from Freo's twitter) was "I think we were super" and "I think our guys were outstanding"

That says it all really. No sugar coating there :p

Game of the round I reckon, lads. Good luck.
Going to be a coin flip if you bring what you did against WC and we bring the Port pressure.
Parker and Fyde head-to-head is always great to watch, Kieren jack will be pinching himself with no Crowls, Silvagni did a good job on Bud but looks like he's not playing (?). Smith likely back for Walters.
Sneak peek of the Grand final I hope. you're the only top team I can stand.

The quote from Jason Weber last week about Alex Silvagni being back with the main squad this week and right for Sydney, seems off the mark.
Silv was training with the Peel boys at Freo oval this morning.

I think by "main squad", he means he's in full training, rather than being in rehab. And by "right for Sydney", he means available for selection by the time we play Sydney. However, he is not match fit and therefore unlikely to be selected.

Tabs had a good game vs a formidable west coast back line. Tabs, Pav and Clarke will stretch the swans backline. Do we need a 3rd talll down back vs buddy and Tippett? Is Dawson or Silvagni available? Any chance of Alex Pearce debuting?
