tempted to put some money on Sydney with the assumption we're likely to rest at least 1 or 2 players.

I would be in favour of a Thommo farewell game

Also would bring in Wigg to get a taste and rest Tex

Would like to rest Talia but don't think there's anyone else who can take Franklin ... and doesn't get any easier next week against Kennedy.

Out: Tex, Sloane
In: Wigg, Thommo
If you are willing to concede the game by bringing in Thommo why not just rest Talia as well.

Not so much conceding the game. I think Thommo can still do a role. Struggling to think who we would put on Franklin.

Having said that, it would be a brilliant gesture for us to offer it and Thommo to wave it away and ask us to pick one of the kids instead.

Sorry but it would be a pathetic gesture...if Sloane doesn't play we must play the person next in line for a finals berth not a charity game.

Keath would play on Franklin. As long as it didn't destroy his confidence it would be a tremendous learning opportunity. Athletically he's the perfect match up for Buddy but of course Talia is our premium defender and should get first crack.

Pathetic but it happens and is also good to honour your champions.

Who do you guys think is more damaging for them with ball in hand in the Swans backline, Rampe or Zac Jones?

I think Rampe is the better defender, but Jones provides more run and carry. Would like to see him manned up by Knight on Friday, Hawthorn stopped his run and the lack of rebound was pretty evident.
Whoever is on Rampe needs to do the team thing & take him out of the play, particularly as 3rd man up. Like Taylor did with Rance. This will allow our other forwards to beat their weaker links.

Reckon Knight would like to get in the face of someone like Parker.

If you think Thommo can play a role you should have been at Prospect on the weekend. He can't run, the spread from the Sydney players would kill him and us.

If we weren't pressing for a flag... but otherwise, no bloody way!

Crows need to rest anyone that is injured. No point worsening injuries that could turn into long term finals affecting injuries. Winning this week means nothing as the swans are unlikely to finish top 4 regardless of the result. Finals is what matters. Get games into possible finals players that may be needed if injuries occur. Lets have a fit finals team 100% unlike last year.

There isn't a different Thommo on our list that I'm not aware of?

Premierships aren't built on sympathy, give it to a kid who could at least have a shot at impacting a final like Gooch instead of wasting it on Thommo.

Outs - Sloane Tex and maybe Talia

Ins - Galluci Menzel and maybe Seedsman

I can't see them resting all 3 of those players in the same game. Only way they all miss is if they are all genuinely injured

I'd rest 1 of them this week and the other 2 next week. Whoever needs it first gets the week off this week

No way we rest Sloane, Walker and Talia...

Losing heavily could destroy our confidence/momentum, plus pump up sydney's! We chose whoever is fit to field our best 22... every game.

The two sides of it is maintaining player form vs protecting player fitness.

Our selection policies have been far better this season, and I don't think players are necessarily bugged at all. The issue is that if we rest players this week, our players lose match fitness (if they play just twice in the next 5 weeks), which is also a critical aspect of how ready a player is to play at the AFL level, especially in a finals encounter.

Also, I believe it is important we play our best on Friday Night, so we can learn the most possible out the match both if we win or loss. Therefore, we can be prepared for when it really counts, if we ended up playing Sydney in September. Taking out Walker, Sloane and Talia is taking out three of the most important leaders of our team, and a bad loss due to this could seriously hamper the form and confidence of other younger players.

With the added chance of being able to knock Sydney out of Top 4 contention, I cannot see any value of trying to throw away this match in trying to help players recover, when they'll have a break in two weeks time anyway, and another break a fortnight after that.

I think that this is by far our best opportunity to win a premiership in over two decades, so I don't think previous examples of our players running out of steam come finals can be compared, which is why flirting with form cannot be the way to go forward.

Menzel has played more games than Cheney this year.

Only texta is in your imagination.
What is your point? I'm assuming you have one, even if it's not evident from the drivel flowing from your keyboard.
