We don't need him to and he just had it knocked. Would be madness to risk him

I'd rather put everything into winning this week to cement top spot than rest him and we lose, leaving the potential of losing against a desperate West Coast the following week and we drop to 2nd with a harder finals draw.

So if we rest players this week, we presumably would have them play the following week against the Eagles?? Because otherwise they will not have played for a month, which would be stupid.

That strategy seems a bit odd. Rest players on an away trip to Perth in the last round, not a home game when top spot is still up for grabs.

Might seem weird, but I prefer top spot to 2nd.

Also comparison to the Hawks and what they did is wrong - they did that back in the days before the bye after the final round. That week off changes everything.

Only rest a player this week if he is actually injured, not one who is just feeling the effects of a long season. Our group needs as many tests against top notch opponents as we can get. This week is a finals game full-dress rehearsal, go for it - there will be three week until the first final afterwards - plenty of time to rest sore bodies.

Agree. Play hard to win but don't put all your cards on the table
It's Round 21, pretty much all the cards have been played.

Everyone knows everyone's game plan. It's not like we're going to suddenly become a team that turns into a Ross Lyon defensive unit. Any moves yet to make are small things - a couple changes due to injury perhaps. It's not like we're going to switch McGovern and Keath or suddenly have Smith play in the midfield.

Yes we might have some surprise strategy move against the Swans, but as ever it'll really come down to us trying to do our thing as good as we can and them trying to stop us.

What if he plays this week after a 6 day break and causes more damage? In 2 weeks time if he still needs a rest because of it then we made a mistake playing him against Sydney.

Ok Richmond have got Freo and Saints. Let's assume they win both, so the top 4 is locked. Let's also assume GWS beat West Coast next week, and Geelong beat Collingwood.

So for the two remaining games:

If we lose both and Geelong beat GWS
The Top 4 is:
Crows, Geelong, GWS, Richmond - we play Richmond

If we lose both and GWS beat Geelong
The top 4 is:
GWS, Crows, Richmond, Geelong - we play Richmond

If we lose 1 and Geelong beat GWS
The top 4 is:
Crows, Geelong, GWS, Richmond - we play Richmond

If we lose 1 and GWS beat Geelong
The top 4 is:
Crows, GWS, Richmond, Geelong - we play Geelong

If we win both and Geelong beat GWS
The top 4 is:
Crows, Geelong, GWS, Richmond - we play Richmond

If we win both and GWS beat Geelong
The top 4:
Crows, GWS, Richmond, Geelong - we play Geelong

Of course this all gets blown to hell if Richmond lose to the Saints - they could finish as low as 6th and we play wither Geelong or Sydney - depending on the Cats-GWS game - or Port if we beat Sydney this week (and they win out).

Listening to Sloane unfortuntley he must be rested as a non negotiable you dont aggrevate injuries unless its super important which it isnt

Talia I dont believe needs restinghe shoudl be good to go

Walker as a precaution is again too important to the team

For Sloane

We could play knight or CC more in the guts or bring in menzel

or bring in Wigg or Gooch

For tex

You have Otten, Menzel or Beech

Im not concerned at the replacements Sloane hasnt been fantastic and although Tex has had some great games last night wasnt one, look what Geelong did to Richmond without Selwood mind you they did have their best player back who wasnt there for the sydney loss

I'd hope there are a few surprises the coaching staff have been working on.

Exactly. Walker or Sloane get injured or even just enter September a bit sore and we can't win the flag

Hey some of my fondest restraining orders are with Scarlett Johannsen
Still not leaving you alone bro? Sorry to hear it mate.

1st and 2nd will make no difference, though a harder game is probably a good thing at the AO

if anyone watched Pyke's presser before the Essendon game, he was asked about resting players coming into finals (also obviously before Sloane and Tex issues last night). In his words, Pyke said we won't be "cute" about over-managing players, players fit to play will play.

If Talia is sore we give him 2 weeks off and play Hartigan in case he is needed for finals.

Keath is in front atm for mine but would be good to give Hartigan the gametime just in case.

Sloane and Walker rested but back for the West C game. We dont want guys only playing 1 game in 5 weeks as prep for a prelim.

Seed and Milera in. Gov gets more responsibility up front.

If you gave Talia two weeks off, he would end up playing two weeks in the next 6 weeks maybe , not sure if that would be beneficial at all infact it would probably have the opposite affect

Depends on the injury i guess and if time off will help him.
