They always leave at least one emergency out of the VFL for match-day emergencies.

They all play as IF they don't play they be back that Night or 1st thing in the Morning

Agh yes.. was hoping one of our first 3 emergencies listed.. Oxley has apparently been ok.. have never minded him. Dunno why he never did come on.
Given our defence is the weakest part of our team it makes sense to take over a defender as the emergency. If a midfielder is out, Crisp can easily move up. If a forward is out someone like Greenwood could move up.

Jack is so far past being a quality footballer it really doesn’t matter if he comes back in to be honest. I wouldn’t worry too much about Johnson, interesting game to bring him back for. Granted you will give them McVeigh that’s a handy inclusion personnel and for structure.
Such a tight scramble to stay in the 8 now. Lose and we’re most likely out. Win and we stay in. Life of being a Pies supporter.

It always amazes me how other teams seem to be able to bring back their star players without any reserve games, and they come in and are ready to go.

The Eagles didn't go conservative with Darling and kennedy after long lay-offs, and week 1 they came in and dominated.

The Swans are equally going all out with McVeigh and Jack who have missed a lot of footy, but are straight back in.

Maybe we are just too conservative with our players. It doesn't seem to help our injury issues. Perhaps the less we cotton-wool them the better.

At the moment we have Reid, Fasolo and Aish all fit and in full training, yet they are having to work their way through the VFL. I'd comfortably have those 3 in our best 22 over Magden, Brown and Daicos

Both only missed 3 games. Played 14 for the year

Agree. Stupid leaving better players in the VFL and have Lesser Players in AFL Team

Kennedy is injured again?
I am not sure with the WCE set up as in players injured returning.
As for Reid being fit alas i doubt he will be i hope so but i think time has caught up.
Fasolo and Aish looked very close from what i have watched on tv,maybe some (VFL people can comment) more on there fitness.
I expect a Sydney win this week and also a loss to Port and finish perhaps 5th.And play Nth in a final.
But geeze we have done so well to even get this far this year.

Concerned about who's orchestrating the defence from the last line without Dunn or Howe.

The VFL reports say Madgen isn't short of voice. Whether he's experienced enough to be competant in his calls might be the worry.

Our approach has worked pretty well so far.

Excuse my ignorance and don’t flame me, but I’m struggling to see how a Cat B rookie with a basketball background and limited football experience (?) can be a better choice for a depleted backline than McLarty who aside from this year had played most of his football in defence and has years of junior development pathway. (Yes, I know Cox is the standout exception to this). I’ll admit I’ve not seen much VFL this year and the cupboard is almost bare but surely McLarty would have been the better option for selection?

It's not a concern for McLarty. He has been playing as a forward ruck at VFL level. The coaches have had a pretty consistent selection policy of bringing in like for like replacements. Because it was a defender that went down Madgen was always in the box seat because he's our next best player playing as a tall defender. I'm confident that if it were Mihocek or Cox that needed replacing McLarty would have gotten the nod.

Kennedy's probably not a great example, and Darling hasn't exactly been firing on all cylinders since coming back. Also I believe Ryan came back in from his ankle without playing in the WAFL and played terribly.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but Mason Cox's Insta stories don't really match up with Collingwood's. Cox has taken a photo of him in a pool looking out at the Sydney skyline, while only a couple of minutes before Collingwood put up photos of the boys training at the SCG.

Umm... is it possible the photo's were taken at different times?

No offence, but on a scale of 1-10 for care factor, 10 being the highest. This would register 0.000000000000000000001 for me.

But what happens on the following weeks?
Didn’t some Eagle players get injured again or miss?
