To be fair Reid is no slouch. What’s more concerning is, why is Reid still training as a forward?

Dunn and Schaz are out, if Reid is looking to play finals, you would think a KPD spot has opened up at the right time for him.

We have Mclarty as a backup if Mihocek or Cox goes down. Who do we have if Magden is injured? No one.

Reid looks fit, and just about ready to go. l wonder if there was a temptation to bring him straight in with Howe out. I
I can see Reid playing against Port in a couple of weeks.

Don't think we will get up this week. Sydney will win comfortably IMO.

I just don't want to see either of Crocker or Smith come into the side.

Backline looks very average with no Shaz or Howe especially with no Dunn.

Madgen confirmed for Shaz. Howe another out and Bucks all but confirmed Sier to play.

Personally I would also like us to bring in Fasolo and Aish for Brown and Daicos.

B - Langdon Moore Maynard
HB - Murray Madgen Crisp
C - Phillips Pendlebury Sidebottom
HF - WHE Mihochek Thomas
F - Fasolo Cox Stephenson
R - Grundy Adams Sier
INT - Aish Varcoe Greenwood Mayne

The backline looks vunerable. I would be tempted to play Fasolo and push Mihocek back for support.

In-Sier, Madgen, Aish
Out-Scharenberg,Howe,Brown
Would love Fasolo to come in however Selectors appear to have decided his X factor has gone missing at the prime time of his football career.

Buckley hinted as much with him being pleased with Sier’s availability! Their midfield isn’t as intimidating as it has been in the past so I would expect the plan to be beat them up there and restrict their ability to isolate our defense.

The likes of Howe, Dunn and Shaz would be handy, but it won’t determine the result from our perspective unlike the midfield battle. Mihocek stays forward unless Madgen struggles!

If we win the midfield battle like we did against North our spate of KPD injuries won't be disastrous. That midfield battle is crucial!

Out: the rubbish we served up in the last against Richmond
In: a full four quarter effort to get the job done.

We were down two defenders in the last quarter against Richmond, so no surprise they kicked away

This game will be won in the midfield battle I suspect, so long as Jack doesn't get stage fright I think our backs will hold up. The Howe factor maybe an issue because it may break the continuity - please Jack keep your head.

Syd look out of sorts all over the park - teams rarely have complete turnarounds in unison and just turn it on out of nowhere, even Sydney. Certainly their guns in Buddy and JK are playing injured and look hampered.

Should (should) win on the back of that, hopefully the continuity of the Howe out doesn't disrupt.

Good luck to the debutant!

I don't see the need to push Mihocek back like some have mentioned. Darcy on Buddy and then raffle the rest of the Swans forward line amongst our boys

Madgen perhaps as a bigger body to go to Heeney/Parker resting. Leave Langdon to peel off McCartin and give Darce a chop out

As long as the players don’t buy in to that.
They have to play to win.

That defence still looks pretty good with only Madgen the question mark. Three of them have been 2017 cornerstones, one is Moore who is a star, and the other is a Rising Star nominee.

That’s the Dave we know.

I’m more confident now.

Well clobber then because they are as soft as swans in the lake.

Has there been a round where we havent had to make changes due to injury this season. This is the worst run of injuries we have had for the last 2 to 3 years, yet we sit in the top 4!!....This defies logic, as we probably should be sitting bottom 4. Just shows its not our personnel winning us games, its the game style and our belief that is getting us wins.

Excuse my ignorance and don’t flame me, but I’m struggling to see how a Cat B rookie with a basketball background and limited football experience (?) can be a better choice for a depleted backline than McLarty who aside from this year had played most of his football in defence and has years of junior development pathway. (Yes, I know Cox is the standout exception to this). I’ll admit I’ve not seen much VFL this year and the cupboard is almost bare but surely McLarty would have been the better option for selection?

Concerned about who's orchestrating the defence from the last line without Dunn or Howe.
Remember when Obi-Wan Kenobi said to Darth Vader “You can’t win Darth, if you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine”.
Then Obi-Wan kept appearing at times of peril to give sage advice to Luke.
That’s what is going to happen on Saturday.
