Wrapt to see Sier back in. Would start him in the middle with Pendles and Adams. He can learn a few things from JPK...

Madgen is a good story and happy for him on his debut.

I am just slightly concerned about our backline but looking at Sydney's they seem a bit undermanned there as well I guess.

Finding it hard to pick this game the more I think about it.

You have Sydney under the pump, at home, bringing in Alex Johnson and rushing back McVeigh and Jack...
Jones is a big out for them... normally the kind of player that hurts us.

Would give Moore the job on Franklin.
Maynard and Crisp on Ronke and Papley.
Madgen on the other tall and Langdon can zone off.

Would look at playing Greenwood as a defensive forward on Lloyd to stifle his run off half back.

Would have liked to have seen Aish and Fas come in for Brown and Daics but not too upset to see them get another chance. Daicos was very good the week before and Brown was first game back for a while.

Expecting a big game by Cox for some reason this week. With no Grundy it's hard to see them compete with him aerially.

How I hope we line up:

B - Langdon Madgen Maynard
HB - Murray Moore Crisp
C - Phillips Pendlebury Sidebottom
HF - WHE Mihochek Greenwood
F - Thomas Cox Stephenson
R - Grundy Adams Sier
INT - Varcoe Daicos Mayne Brown

That midfield should be good enough to get about 65% of the ball into our quite potent forward line to win.

I think Sydney’s outs in the backline really mean that it will be harder for them to transition to our backline which is weak (comparative to the rest of the year).

Said it before say it again, seems like over the years opposition players get up for Collingwood (come in ) and then usually back out the following week.

McVeigh and KJ this round.

Carey in the past. Wells and going back awhile, a choppered in Hudson that tore us apart at Arctic park.

Who does the back up ruck role for Sydney? Might we see a late change with Cameron coming in or do they just throw someone like Dawson at Coxy?

Big Coxy's first game in the Harbour City!!

I suppose we have the biggest Cox in town Saturday night?

Maul 'em big fella. Time to clean up some cynet!! SLLLLUUURRRPPPP!!!

Perhaps not.
We have Dean Cox as assistant coach. He's put on a little weight since he retired.
And his nose hasn't gotten any smaller.

Don't think Cameron will play unless Sinclair doesn't, it was a disaster when both played against the Suns. Dawson played the role last week and I don't see any of the ins this week playing that role instead of him. In any case, I don't think it matters who goes up against Cox, there's not much chance of a hitout!

wish treloar was playing because scg is a great ground for midfielders to run through the guts and dob goals from 50. maybe crispy will get on the end of a long run and goal if we are lucky, but id also love to see the bear bomb one coming out of a centre bounce

Jack is so far past being a quality footballer it really doesn’t matter if he comes back in to be honest. I wouldn’t worry too much about Johnson, interesting game to bring him back for. Granted you will give them McVeigh that’s a handy inclusion personnel and for structure.

I'll admit I haven't watched a lot of him lately, has he really slipped that far? (Jack).

Anyone know who the emergencies travelling on the plane were?

Would they have traveled today? You'd assume they'll take a few given they can get back in time for Sunday's VFL game.

Yeah I watch with a little bit of interest given the strong Sydney ties with my family (I’m well and truely black and white!) but he’s lost his step this year and it’s shown.

He’s one of the ones with a fully fit list I’d argue would be close to boarderline best 22. He’s 32 next year, has had a great career but not many give some quality minutes at that age when let’s face it, he was a good contributor but never a superstar.

Knowing my luck he’ll dominate this game now I’ve said that.

Gimpy Where’s Borthwick?

You’re slipping re.

His form doesn't warrant selection.. although I've only seen him play 1 qrt of footy over the yrs.. but I liked what I saw.. not that I remember any of it

When Jim Courier is next in town he can dive in and get it for you - after we've won the flag
And he wins the Australian Open

Why Pies value Moore in defence

Collingwood development coach Matthew Boyd has praised Darcy Moore’s attributes as a defender.

Moore has been shifted into the Magpies’ backline, having begun his career as a key forward, and Boyd has explained why the club values what the 22-year-old brings in his new role.

“I thought Darcy was really good for us last week in the backline,” Boyd told SEN Mornings.

“We've still got to remember that it’s only Darcy’s second game as a defender. I thought he did a really good job with some of his positioning and his aerial work.

“He is so athletic that once that ball hits the deck, he is able to run, carry and create for us out of the backline, which is something all defenders need to be able to do nowadays.

“It’s really important to be able to transfer that ball as quickly as you can from your back end into your forward end to give your forwards a chance.”

Collingwood development coach Matthew Boyd has praised Darcy Moore’s attributes as a defender.

However, Boyd stopped short of declaring Moore will line-up against Sydney spearhead Lance Franklin tomorrow night.

“It would be a pretty juicy match-up, wouldn’t it?” Boyd said.

“Two unbelievable athletes going at it.

“They will go through the final preparations of what the actual match-ups look like today up in Sydney.

“I reckon as footy lovers, we would all like to see that.”
