According to a highly opinionated silver spoon poster AP is rubbish and we won't have any problems with him being out. That's solace enough for me. Brashaw or Serong can take the skippers job from here.
You're the last poster who should be taking shots at another.

Pull your ****en head in

we’re all worried about how our defence will mitigate their goal scoring and that just plays into their hands. The proactive approach would be to make sure we can compete in midfield, tag one of Warner, guilden or Heeney, and maybe play Jacko as a mid.

Our mids are good enough to break even with the Swans and we have nobody good enough to tag a midfielder anyway. I would go head to head in the midfield and use Banfield to put work into Blakey.

If Darcy can beat Grundy in the ruck contest leading to clearance dominance it won't matter what Grundy tries to do around the ground. We will force it into a heavy stoppage game.
Only if we're on top of the post-clearance contest. How many times this year have we won the clearances yet won on account of scores from turnover?

Fortunately, what we saw against the Suns suggests that maybe the message is getting though? Chapman was fantastic (not that he was one of those needing to heed the message), but it was Sturt's massive jump in contest that impressed me the most. If we see the overall level of intensity across the board continue into Saturday, only then all we need is for Darcy and the mids to dominate.

Freddy owes us a big game and Sydney would be the perfect time for it. Has only kicked 11 for the season and hasn't hit the next level we expected him to.
He copped a bad concussion though. Only antidotal evidence from supercoach but most players who miss from concussion seems to drop their points significantly for a while afterwards. It's got to have an effect.

Jackson is a great match up for McLean. I would do it. McLean is a powerful mark but not very classy. Jackson could probably even provide some intercept marking and run off McLean a bit.

All our other defensive options will get monstered by McLean.

Jackson - McLean
Ryan - McDonald
Davies - Amartey
Voss - forward
Exactly. Voss and Treacy forward offers more directedness tbb.
Feel like Jackson is best suited in defence anyway, his decisionmaking is sound

Hughes has to come in for mine over Draper and Worner. I think he’s actually not a bad match up for McDonald, who’s more aerobic in nature. Experience and physicality needed. Davies will take Amartey - again not the worst match up ; he just needs to never lose body.

Blowtorch is on the high HFs and midfield - only way we win this is extreme pressure in the midfield for 4 quarters. We can’t do what we usually do (huge lapses leaving defence exposed only to he recused by Ryan and Pearce).

Hughes has never played key back in his life at any level. Draper has literally played 12 AFL games as a key back this year. JL said it himself, we are a role based team. Draper would be a good matchup for Logan, I was watching the tv coverage and Gary Lyon said Logan had won only 1x 1-on-1 for the whole season before their game.

Jackson playing CHB is fantasy land stuff. There's no way they are doing that. A big block of continuity for Jackson in this role is a massive priority for the club. He had his worst game on the weekend but the 2 weeks before that he was excellent. Mac Andrew was a actually a great matchup for him. We need to keep this block of forwards together to build connection

Realistically,
Draper IN Pearce OUT
Walker IN Worner OUT Wagner sub

Did you watch Peel on the weekend? I think if Draper had have had a decent game they would have been tempted to run the gauntlet on two 19 yesr old KPDs but I think his confidence is in the toilet at the moment. Hughes odds on favourite IMO

I watched most of the first half. I will happily take that friendly bet. Our coaching staff/match committee is very conservative and set in roles and next man up mentality. I just don't see them overreacting and playing Hughes in a position hes never played in even at WAFL.

The only way I could see it, is Chapman undersized key + Ryan in his normal undersized key + Davies, and Hughes in his normal role. In that scenario I think Worner would just move into the team anyway. But we will see

People seem to hate it, but I don't mind Jackson going down back.

His cleanliness with the ball and execution, especially mid-transition when he's a middle option should start getting exposed on the scoreboard. No more mindless handballs to shitty first options and fumbling. The scoreboard won't lie.

Draper is burnt out at this point of the season. Was pretty poor for WAFL.
You have back senior players to do a role.

Ah, we’re back to the idea that any old forward can just go back and play well. No need to actually train with the backs or know anything about the structure. I’m sure Sydney won’t immediately rotate to get that player one out at full back instantly. At least we’re not suggesting Treacy anymore.

Davies and Ryan take the two deep forwards, rotating with Chapman when there’s a third tall down there and he can take the highest. Hughes takes Hayward in his usual role.

Nothing would please me more than for Caleb Serong to lead the team as captain, then take it upon himself to lead from the front, twenty clearances, fifteen goal assists.
Rather they give it to Andy… at least until his signature has been collected.

Not a fair bet if you work at the club, I take it back

Remarkably Freo could be out of the 8 at the end of the weekend which is completely unjust and a false economy given the major strides they’ve made as a club this year.
I would go as far as saying it’s likely, unfortunately for your team, think it’ll be Brisbane replacing us in the 8

Who expected him to? I feel like he's hit his level and hit it very early, he's not the sort of player to massively develop. like, you didn't see him a few games in and go 'that's a hole or two you could fill just with time.' he's a headless chook.

Massive respect to that great running back with the flight attempt v St Kilda though. that made me really respect the bloke. he clearly does care about the club. and to be honest, I think he wants to be a success, but I just don't think he has the footballing nous to do it. he just does so much dumb stuff and if rules were properly enforced, he'd be giving away more free kicks than anyone else in the competition.
