Was there only third level available?
Sounds like it will be a decent crowd in tomorrow night then.

Re. The medical substitute (Woody?) if he sits out the game on the boundary can he suit up for Maggie’s on Saturday? If he, say, plays a quarter will he be unable to play on Saturday?

Geelong to welcome back Dangerfield, O'Connor, Duncan and Blicavs. Cam Guthrie still missing with that shoulder issue. Chris Scott confirms Quinton Narkle "unlucky" to be dropped

Narkle had a couple of handy games last two rounds he played, 34 and 25 disposals.

Re. The medical substitute (Woody?) if he sits out the game on the boundary can he suit up for Maggie’s on Saturday? If he, say, plays a quarter will he be unable to play on Saturday?

The SANFL Commission determined that a medical substitute who is activated and takes to the field at AFL level, will not be allowed to play in the SANFL on the same weekend regardless of the amount of time the player has spent on the field.

This decision is in direct contrast to the AFL announcement that a medical substitute player would be allowed to play state league football on the same weekend regardless of whether they had been activated or not.

I think it is pretty evident why our game plan has changed. First of all there is the fact that last year teams were catching us over the back as a tactic of beating our press. I remember one critic saying our press is a little too high (It was Dermott Brereton when we played Sydney last year) and needed a little bit of tweaking. Second there is the recruitment of Allir Allir which allowed us to pull back our press a little and dare teams to kick it long.

The advantage of the new game plan is that teams are wary of just bombing it long because most of our scores this year have been from the back half and not a sustained press. The disadvantage is that teams are handballing through our zone defense and holding on to the ball and slowing the tempo. They realize that you need to run at our defense and get people out of position before you kick it. Another disadvantage is that the boys are playing a less contested game and not working as hard as they did last year.

Overall, I think that the press will be readjusted closer to the finals and that disadvantage can be turned to an advantage . It is a harder style to play but allows the team to build into the season and not peak too early.

Do we really think that Melbourne will out perform Richmond at the end of the year? I think we are placed ok and I am a little buoyed by the fact that we can play way below our potential and be 8-3. In some ways if we get things together we are better placed this year than last...
We have played pretty crap all year yet are 8-3 with heaps of good players to come back in the side… Can’t complain but definitely need a scalp though just for some self belief!

We haven't even really been competitive against the top 4 which is embarrassing
We destroyed the Dogs for a quarter and were in a winning position Vs the cats in the last. Out best is good enough, but as always we are in reliable, can’t do it for 4 quarters and are poorly coached.
