MRP have completly opened themselves up to criticism when they dont suspend the big players but then suspend that. I can understamd why they suspended it but i also think it was insufficient force

How Rayner got a game based off his last few weeks is astounding. Good to see he’s held to the same standard as Cutler.

Out - Mathieson, Rayner (won’t happen given he’s Fagan’s pet)

Ins - Keays, Cutler (won’t happen for either b/c of Fagan’s bias)

There is no point comparing Cutler to Rayner. Different positions, different KPI's, different flaws and have had different amounts of time to prove themselves.

Rayner might need a rest, but it is no positive or negative reflection of how the club is treating Tom.

Matho should get a week, it was a shit act, but the AFl can't now. Dusty got downgraded for a way worse act and Ablett got off, it's insufficient force. You are allowed to elbow people in the head as long as they don't look hurt by the incident. They literally can't give him a week. $2k fine.

Not one for changing a winning formula so now that matho is a forced change, wouldn’t be against Rayner being given one final chance to prove himself. Otherwise Keays to fill that spot up forward

The reasons to drop Rayner seems longer than the reasons to keep him in but Fagan has always given the young blokes a bit more time than he does the mature guys. And I’m more than OK with that. I mean, people were calling for Witho’s head and he’s just come out with a really solid game.

I’d drop Rayner but I’m not going to whine if he stays in. Some are getting a bit personal with their comments on this issue.

Calls to drop witho were silly. played 30 odd games, averaging 21 disposals @ 83% and 400m gained this year. Way over performing and playing at a high level for a kid his age. Also playing a huge role in giving instructions. It really was the height of impatience seeing fans bag the shit out of him. Victim of his own high standards, he is a kid, he is allowed to have a few quiet weeks.

I wouldn't be challenging the 1 match sanction- he deserves it for stupidity imo. I like Matho, but that's just plain dumb.

It possibly saves Rayner for another week - but he's gonna hafta produce something pretty decent if they give him one more chance. Equally, I don't mind seeing him dropped this week either, there are other guys who probably have a pretty strong case. The only caveat would be the game itself - not sure a trip to Perth to play Freo is an ideal place to play your first of the year.

Strange logic. Rayner isn't like for like with Rayner but you'd bring him in for McInerney?

As I think we too tall in the forward line and not big on the 2 rucks. It worked only 50% of the time. The games we lost we where down a extra runner.
So Keays in for Big O.. as offers us something different.
McCarthy, Rayner and Cameron those players who have big qtrs's not normally full games
Keays more consistent from NEAFL although a jump up in grade.
Big O and McStay there to contest the ball and bring it down.. Although the other three jump at everything anyway.

Yeah I doubt Cutler get's recalled after getting dropped without at least 1 game back in the reserves to earn his spot back. I'm on the Corey Lyons bandwagon to replace Matho. Deserves a shot at senior level. Been our best mid in the reserves thus far.

I don't think Cutler is the answer they're looking for because the first opportunity they had to drop him they did. For whatever reason I'm resigned to him being elsewhere next year unless he miraculously starts playing differently ,it's been a few years now. The good thing is we do have some guys in form to come in if necessary . I haven't got any real preference between 3 or 4 of them .

I think he should be left to play. People call him selfish, but if you ask me, he is one of the few with unique damaging attributes that should be let off the chain. IMO, he is one of our top 10 players and to be frank, it is insane that he isn't utilised or in the most effective manner.

He seems to be out of favour for our game style which seems to be a lot about territory.
We kick it long around the boundary and then inside 50 .
Seems to work , we still need to be able to execute an entry or go up field via short quick kicks as well.
That's Lewy's game , but like I say it seems like we prefer to get the ball forward quickly with longer kicks.
Need to find a balance or more to the point more strings to our bow

And the guy clearly bent his knees so the bumper bar, albeit from behind and not during the gsme, went high just the same a Ablett. System sucks.

Also which one of Neale, zorko, Andrews, Berry, mccluggage, Cameron, Hipwood, Martin, Gardiner and witherden do you have him ahead of?

I like Cutler, but let's not be ridiculous and rewrite that he's this absolute gun who amazingly isn't getting a game because the coach doesn't like him.

He's got some great strengths, bit he's also got some not insignificant weaknesses too

Well that's what I've been saying all along but I was so dumbfounded that he was dropped last week that I'll just leave it to the club

Starting to think with the media pressure starting to build on Rayner he is less likely to be dropped. He is young but more experienced than most of his touted replacements, with a pretty difficult road trip plus the mounting pressure he might be spared another week.
