Whats the latest with Berry? I have heard he could be out for up to six weeks? We win yesterday with him. Hope he isn't out for long.

If we are not going to pick Cutler for some reason than at least play Allison. We need run from defence and outside run. It was that obvious in the last qtr yesterday.

Two tough games and a big flight home and we are playing Hawks who are not quick. Pick some fresh players and run run run run.

Im not a fan of Mathieson being in the side with Lyons already there but with Berry out I would bring him back in for that extra grunt.

In : Allison/Cutler - Mathieson - Bastinac
Out: Taylor - Rayner - Answerth

6 weeks! 6 weeks! What the heck man.

I think that the last two games will have taken it out of our boys and think that there are going to be some really sore and sorry. You can see that Fagan and co are wanting more of a contested type of a game which is fine as it is finals footy.

There should be changes IMO due to the last couple of games and short turn around.

Short turnaround off two tough games . We just need to see who comes up. Hoping for Berry.

If Cutler is so poor defensively who was picking up Hill ,Simpson and others yesterday when the game got tight.

Likewise we did control the game for large portions with our defensive press but couldn't score enough from our possessions.

We need to find a way of getting a bit more zip in our team ,but if we don't have those options then there's not a lot we can do

Our club has been especially cagey with injury information. I complained about it pre-season and nothing has changed. Why such a lack of transparency?

Frustrating loss.

I don’t think the two rucks is working. Oscar and Martin combined statistics probably equals one ruckman. If you look at where we lost it, the inability to stop Lobb marking in the last was probably the biggest single factor. Followed by the lack of leg speed. Swapping a ruck man for a runner would have solved the problem. But how to do it? Martin’s form seems to be deteriorating which I guess is age catching up to him and I am not sure Oscar can carry the ruck alone. smith has been playing well in the magoos. But I don’t think he is ready to carry the ruck alone either. I am not sure if the big bloke for the Hawks is due back this week. Adds another factor to be considered in any change.
For me put the pressure on Martin to lift and let Mc Stay give him a break.

Rayner and Hipwood weren’t great. The club is putting games into both of them, which I support as a sensible long term strategy. We knew Rayner had fittness issues when we recruited him and hopefully the coaching staff have a fitness, confidence, skill development plan for him the will bear fruit. He was better yesterday but is coming off a low base. He got a blatant tunnel from Ryan in the last which wasn’t picked up. A goal may have changed the year for him and the team. But as a mug supporter I think we should be drop ( what would I know).

Over the year Hipwood’s output has been acceptable.

Answerth and Hinge been decent. But maybe Answerth is ready for a rest to give Allison a run. I assume a straight swap Mattho for Taylor even though I didn’t think Taylor was that bad.

Watching the reserves, in particular Basti, Cutler and Bundy, I think Basti could be given another run. He just seems to be really putting in. I don’t know why the other two are out of favour. they are a class above the NEAFL, but didn’t seem to do anything different to demand a recall.

I would like to see how Wooller goes as a third forward, occasional run on the ball which is sort of Rayner’s role.

So that’s out Oscar, Rayner, Answerth and Taylor

For Wooller, Allison, Basti, Mattho.

I thought Hinge played quite ok and deserves another shot at it..

Hinge was incredibly slow with his decision making and caused more than a few turnovers. I would say if Cutler had been the one with the ball in those situations we probably win by two or three goals. He was certainly a significant contributing factor in the loss imo. Hard on a young player just stepping up and trying to adjust to the pace of the game at AFL level but that is the reason why I would demote him.

I am happy to Rayner time in the reserves to learn how to find it again. I would also be tempted to demote both the rucks and give Archie a run. Both were ordinary on the weekend especially Martin.

For me the changes would be:

Out - Hinge, Rayner, Martin, McInerney
In - Allison, Keays, Smith, Cutler

Sorry my mistake. I meant to say Archie Smith, but typed Cox because I had been thinking about him.

3KZ just hanging around, thinking of Cox...

Yeah, I'm immature. I admit it.

It's becoming more and more common. I've noticed GWS having had similar behaviour over the last couple of seasons, and other clubs tend to be more cagey about predicted unavailability times as well.

OUT - Hodge, Rayner and Taylor
INS - Allison, Berry (hopefully) and Matho
I think this is about right. But would probably keep Hodge in.
I wonder what is up with O’s shoulder. Maybe Archie deserves a go.

Taylor & Rayner should come out.

Allison's game in the NEAFL looked exactly like what we were missing at the senior level.

I'd be looking at doing a simple:

Out: Taylor - Hinge - Answorth
In: Matho - Cutler - Allison
We've had 2 tough games and the trip.

Need to bring in some fresh legs for this match and Cutler and Allison look obvious.

Not holding my breath though.

Presume Berry doesn't get up looking at the lack of info from the camp

Do you see Wooller playing wing at senior level?
Not really, in the Reserves he plays the Rayner type role, a lead up big bodied forward and he plays midfield at most centre bounces, its like they are getting him used to copping a bit of a bettering. I though he was recruited as a Key Forward but I think they are seeing if he can be built into a monster mid fielder like many of them are these days - Cripps, Fyfe etc. Unless he has a growth spurt its forward who sometimes help out in the midfield. He is not super quick but tough at the ball.

When we recruited him they were talking about him as a Tom Lynch from Adelaide type link up player. Was hoping with his extra midfield time in the ressies he might develop to play on the wing.
