I hear what you say. I had him in my side for Rd 8 FWIW. Certainly ahead of Porter and Gowers.

However what we don't know is what the conversation has been with Toby.
There might be nothing.

Or ...

... there might be: "Here's why we left you out this week (v Ess) and so here's what we want you to work on for a couple of weeks." There might also be a bit of "you'll be getting games in the packed weeks ahead so don't worry, there's plenty of chance to show you can do what we want you to do".

Exactly what they want him to do I don't know - probably none of us do - but I'm not inclined to the view that Bevo just drops a premiership player like Toby and ignores him.

So I don't unblinkingly accept your statement that "his mistreatment at selection appears unrelated to his personal performance" and hence that he has been unfairly treated. We just don't know.

I expect they have some reasoning behind their treatment of Koby, just like they have some reasoning behind the way they have treated many other players, past and current.

We can all be pigheaded at times, and sometimes coaches need to recognise they may have unreasonable expectations. Maybe what they are asking of him he is not capable of delivering at this point in time and maybe not at all. He is however still capable of delivering quality football so maybe they should second guess their treatment of this young high quality player.

Similar to Jake Stringer. A young man cut little slack despite going through a difficult time with the break-up of his marriage. They expected him to be able to mature/settle down/straighten himself and expected this to all take place well within the 2017 season. It was an unreasonable expectation, and one he was obviously incapable of meeting within their time frame.

My issue is a lack of consistency, so many players have been given loads of time and patience, despite delivering very little, e.g. Young, Young, Roarke Smith, Gardner, etc. whilst others who have genuinely delivered for the club have been treated quite harshly such as McLean, Stringer, Roughead, Dickson, Roberts and even Cordy.

A bit more consistency would be appreciated.
