Yeah Masten had a fantastic first month but he's definitely tapered off in the last few, probably has something to do with the increased quality of the opposition, surprise surprise. Wouldn't want to have another poor one.

Or...........he is starting to get comfortable again.

Recent article in newspaper he said after being dropped last year he wanted to 'show something' to prove his worth.

Might be time to shake him up again.

Team Selection day!! or ducks+drakes day..
Ahchee lived up to my expectations after a long wait.
A walk up starter for mine, a solid unit too, exactly the grunt we needed.
Has a lot of potential. Reminds of Bret Heady for some reason? (minus the ears)
When the Ainsworth package all comes together (next season?) he will be a gun, still developing.
Nanks or Soldo?

It's a Sunday game so today it'll just be the squad of 26 announced - expect it'll be the 22 that played GWS with Naitanui, Gov, Sheed and Jetta added

Have a feeling Sheed won't get up. Based on ... nothing I guess.

In: Naitanui, McGovern, Jetta, Partington
Out: None yet

B: Sheppard, Barrass, Hurn
HB: Jetta, McGovern, Duggan
C: Cripps, Gaff, Masten
HF: Waterman, Darling, Rioli
F: LeCras, Kennedy, Lycett
R: Naitanui, Yeo, Redden
I: Cole, Hutchings, Ah Chee, Ainsworth, McInnes, Schofield, Nelson, Partington

Last four to miss out when the squad is trimmed tomorrow. Nelson to be held over.

The spectacle of this game deserves a fit n' firing Shuey, but guess we'll have to wait till much later to see that contest with Tigers.
Have checked the world news roundup, the tedious social media platforms, but nothing captures my interest like this game!
Malthouse reckons the result either way means very little in the context of the season, just a good contest on the day! 4 points. Like others he suggested Pies at the G will be the telling game.
But it will show both teams how they compare, as they track closer to the bye and re-boot for the 2nd half of season..presuming both teams will be at their strongest towards end of season.
How good is Waterman..has become a required player since first game.

Waterman just has a fantastic workrate. It helps that hes a thumping kick. Its hard to work out how the tall V small forward scenario will eventually play out. Some of it will come down to injuries.NN Lycett,Waterman Jk and Darling all chase and tackle so we dont lose too much there.Throw in Petrol,Ryan and Venables and we have extreme pace. With our ruck setup we are going to get a lot of forward entries. All our blokes bar Venables can take a big grab;chuck in Rioli and i havnt even mentioned Lecca and Cripps. Its a selectors nightmare. But a good one to have.Ryan has had a great start but remember Peel shut him down in the WAFL final by roughing him up.By the same token hes got some monsters around him at WC and hes playing a totally different role. Not THE man anymore.JK or /and Waterman can play midfield, both work very hard.Oh Gawd im getting excited again!!

Ryan's only downside is his slight build, looks prone to injury..
It's the potential team at the end of the home+away rounds that is an exciting prospect..

meanwhile, Sundays game...we lost a close one with Tiggers last season at G, in shifting weather-weren't too flash with pressure, but game seemed more open ..we've changed a lot since then. most tipsters have us winning (about 75-25). Got Lycett+NN now.

Is there any particular reason why you refuse to use Chris’s correct surname?
Are you ignorant of it if just trying hard to be a smartar$e??
It wasnt hard . Do you know how many times I have said Masten? Lots. Marsdon I used because someone quoted me and said Masten ( not Marsdon) . So I said Marsdon in return just that once even tho I call him Masten . Do you know the story behind why Dark Sharks uses it ? It isnt derogatory ,it was in reference to a facebook user who liked Marsden in 2015 the nickname has stuck around.

I think Sheed will play if it's only a toe injury, Shuey managed to play at an ok level.

When they just said "foot injury" it was much more vague, however, I guess it all depends on the severity and which toe it is.

Bench is: Sheed, Jetta, Nelson, Schofield, Ainsworth, Mutimer, Ah Chee, Waterman

My best guess is safe, 50/50, out

Pootimer ?

o_O

Parto must be loving life
Mutimer's been moved into defence now, so not really the same position. I guess they want coverage in case one of our small defenders doesn't get up which is pretty important this week against Richmond's mosquito fleet.

Would say that this looks worse for Watson than Parto tbh.

Clearly they are bringing Mutimer in for a head to head with Dustin Martin.

Averaging 15 touches, 2.4 marks and 0 goals per game in the WAFL. With dominant stats like that, what's not to like? :fire:
