Masten took a step backward today, back to old habits. Seems to do this against the better sides that give him minimal space and time. Masten out for a running midfielder, whichever of the others that’s right to go

Urghh. That lazy kick in the 3rd that should have been an easy mark for Gaff but instead put him under immense pressure made my blood boil.
.
In spite of that, Masten still has been pulling his weight, so no cause to drop him.

He’s definitely been better but he’s just such a momentum killer.. he looks so slow against good sides that bring the heat, and his skills break down accordingly. No flags while theres him ****ing things up at critical times.. I’m not normally too critical on him because my expectations are low. He is the weakest link

Maybe the weakest link but has a super important and underrated role and is playing it incredibly well.

Yep. Same here. That was a shit kick. It was an ok game from Masten, he made a couple of blues but he plugged away, did a couple of good things and offered an option on the release. I reckon he's carrying a niggle. I think he is well aware that he can't drop his standards in this side.

Not sure Masten is going anywhere soon, is a required player, as long as he plays his role. He got bawled out by someone today (Darling?), did make a few clangers, but so did quite a few others to be fair, on a grubby day. But those turnovers are blood-boiling..
Schofields last kick summed his day up I thought, not clean enough for mine, a solid stand-in, but a stand-in.

I really rate Masten's 2018 as far as his career best form goes... but kinda want to keep Hutch in the team to tag Dusty. Don't think you can drop Anus or Sneeze after 1 game. So something like:

OUT: Nelson (omit), FMac (omit), Schoey (omit), Masten (rested?)
IN: Jetta, NN, Gov, Sheed

Give Anus and Sneeze the talking to that whoever gets the least tackles between the two comes out for Masto in 2 weeks, other one wins a few more weeks in the 22.

Most likely though 1 of Gov/Jetta/Sheed won't pass their fitness and therefore Masten stays. But the following weekend will be a lot tougher to sort out.

Is Sheed an automatic in? I am not so sure he has attributes that have him head and shoulders above some of the other mids we have.
Certainly is.

Another running option with a deadly left boot.

He’ll be straight back in. Make no mistake.

Number 1 Y'all forgetting its an 8 day break and a Sunday game.. I guarantee Govs wasnt injured.

Based on Number 1 its not a Thursday or Friday game.

INS Shuey, Sheed, Jetta, NN, Govs, (Petch)?

Outs Masten, Hutchings, Nelson, Mcinnes, Schofield, (AhChee)??

Furthermore How do we fit in Ryan and Venables after this. Getting interesting.

Lecras was bad today.. hope he picks it up. Think hes the one to go to fit Ryan or Venables in..
Cripps could of kicked 6 today.

In - Sheed, Gov, NN, Jetta
Out - Ainsworth, Schofield, McInnes, ??

I would rather Hutch out but at the same time his senior body is handy.

That question mark may well be Nelson? Or even...Cole

And yep Bubba will go back to EP, Hutchings will stay.

I reckon Schofield is better than that. If you think back to 2015, he really stood up when he became our first-choice FB. He now finds himself behind Barrass and McGovern who are both gun intercept marks. And we've also got Sheppard and Hurn who play tall. But I'd happily put Schofield on the opposition's best key forward if we played against a side with a stack of talls or if Barrass or McGovern went down. It's just unfortunate that tall forward lines aren't trendy so it's hard to justify picking three tall defenders. Schofield is good enough to be playing AFL every week.

I have a sneaky suspicion Barrass is playing through an injury or is very sore. If gov gets up, id be tempted to rest him and play schofield this week. Tigers aren't overly tall and Jack Riewoldt is the type of forward schofield is made to play on.
