not really a hard tagging role but maybe we should send Ah chee to Martin at stoppages. Just need a strong body applying pressure every time he gets the ball and makes sure that every disposal is under a ton of pressure. Yeo has done that with Fyfe a couple times and even though Fyfe got a lot of the ball, his impact was well below. Yeo is now genuine inside mid for us. If hutch stays, he tags Cotchin.

I was thinking the same. Still no Shuey, we would be better off not having Yeo tag Martin. Ah Chee wants to prove his worth as an AFL footballer, IMO if Simmo gives him a job he’ll get it done and he can hurt Martin the other way.

Just on Ah Chee, I knew he was a big unit but seeing him next to Darling on the weekend, he’s bigger than what I thought. Looks very powerful.

SJOG medical report lists McGovern, Jetta and Sheed to be joining in the full training session on Thursday :thumbsu:

Good news, but Petruccelle is out for another 1-2 weeks, it's good to see they're being conservative. I have no doubt that some of these calf troubles (Jetta/McGovern) and toe injuries (Shuey/Sheed) are to do with the hard ground. I used to get very sore calves running on harder surfaces only.

hopefully Cole shuts down Caddy.

Bugger

vozzo said 6 weeks for ryan and 7 for venables

Maybe the weakest link but has a super important and underrated role and is playing it incredibly well.
Please can you elaborate on his role. No opposition really man up on him and he seems to have a lot of space around him at times (boundary throw ins & ruck contest). He needs to be more attacking at times & kick more goals to earn his keep.

Really don't like that word (Conservative) when used in AFL- has so many different meanings from really bad to not so bad.

Masten's 19 disposals and one tackle, from an 180 game player, are just so darn valuable..

Yeah Masten had a fantastic first month but he's definitely tapered off in the last few, probably has something to do with the increased quality of the opposition, surprise surprise. Wouldn't want to have another poor one.

Surprise surprise, people still pot shotting Masten in spite of being a solid contributor in his ‘down’ games this year.

We have depth now though, so it's nice to have a little bit of pressure on these guys for their spots. But yeah Masten should stay for now. But he should be feeling the heat.

To be fair to Masten if there was a stat for attempted tackles he would be doing a lot better.

The problem is because he has the physical strength of a 10 year old girl, his efforts rarely count

Again - playing well, still cops it.

How predictable.

Agree with this, I'm one that has most certainly been guilty of this in the past but he's been good this year.
Although his inability to hold (or break) a tackle is frustrating.
Its no different to most outside players in the league really. They are lighter built so it's sort of a trade off you need to weigh up.

I've been a fan of his efforts this season but was pretty poor against GWS imo. Few really bad decisions under not too much pressure and a few moments where he simply didn't influence the contest in the way he should have.

Hutchings whilst making more obvious mistakes did restrict Shiel very well - who's always killed us in the past. For team balance I don't think dropping Masten for Sheed and retaining Hutchings is a good idea (too many inside mids with Ainsworth in) but if one of our more outside mids in the WAFL such as Parto hits form I would hope Masten's spot is at least under pressure.

I’m not seeing what masten is offering, at every stoppage he is not near any players, but directing others to man up. Yet being in space he rarely gets the ball with any time, and is often under pressure where his disposal suffers ( if he can get rid of the ball )

The idea, that he he been good this year, is based upon low expectations.

He positions himself between contests, with the ability to affect neither. I’d like to Jetta in this role instead. A bloke who can use the space, and will run with the ball opening the game up.

So here, ends the rant.

Naita for Mcinnes
Gov for Schofield
Sheed for Ainsworth

Jetta for one of Nelson, huchings or ah chee. That's a pretty tough one given none deserve to be dropped. I would go Nelson.
Ah Chee safe, you'd imagine on team balance if Jetta comes in it will be at the expense of a defender, Nelson or Cole the most likely (despite both being reasonable over the last couple of weeks in Jetta's absence).
