Maybe you need to watch the game more closely.I’m not seeing what masten is offering, at every stoppage he is not near any players, but directing others to man up. Yet being in space he rarely gets the ball with any time, and is often under pressure where his disposal suffers ( if he can get rid of the ball )
The idea, that he he been good this year, is based upon low expectations.
He positions himself between contests, with the ability to affect neither. I’d like to Jetta in this role instead. A bloke who can use the space, and will run with the ball opening the game up.
So here, ends the rant.
Masten definitely has footy smarts. Has very quick hands and good delivery.
Is fourth on our list for score involvements. He has a specific role to play and does it well.
Is a very good link when the team is transitioning forward and is a vital cog in the switch which is an integral part of our game plan.
He creates his own space as well as anyone in the team and draws the opposition players while creating space for others.
There are not too many others on our list that have these same attributes.
He's no Patrick Dangerfield but that not his role.
