More Bevo selection funny buggers. Unless there’s an out up forward I can’t figure out where he fits in.
We’re also a week away from a cutthroat game and two matches from finals. Bevo should know what his best 22 looks like by now and have the side settled this late in the season

It’s funny that with Bev it would surprise no one if one week before what is essentially an EF he selected a player to debut in a position they weren’t playing in the VFL or changed our structure to add an additional KPP.

Anything is on the table!
Croft has been playing higher up the ground the last month and despite his height isn't a KPP

Nik Cox type but not shit scared

A bit, but he is much more aggressive in the air. I still think he'd make a good CHB in time, and like Lobb would pay close to 100% TOG in that role as he has a huge tank.

I have more faith in Crofty playing 100 AFL games than I do Cox.

Comparison more 200cm athlete type especially for Crofty currently until he packs on some weight,

Croft 100% plays much better and far more aggressively but currently playing his best footy higher up the ground compared to as a KPF like earlier in the year where he struggled to get a kick

Could mean we return to the two talls in defence with Croft 2nd ruck out of the forward line rather then Lobb out of Defence.
Could be.

Given Poulter playing a full game High Half Forward wing only getting 2 marks and 3 kicks could be a replacement as that is the role Croft played in the VFL in addition to part time ruck.

Could be the replacement for VDM with Garcia starting and someone else as SUB.

Guess we will find out more tomorrow night and be confirmed Friday

Wow didn’t expect that…

How’s his form been?

There’s talk of ruck - surely he wouldn’t ruck would he?

He's light still and will lose the strength battle in the ruck, but from what I have seen, he's a better second ruck option than Buku was for us earlier in the year being about 10cms taller and able to cover the ground a lot better. Darcy and Lobb still comfortably better 2nd rucks than he is at this stage, but it's not really a position we have cared about too much in recent years to be honest.

Has he rucked in the twos? Physically ready to ruck against the eagles #2 you reckon?

He’s rucked in the twos for the last 3-4 weeks. He’s been more competitive in there than I thought he would be. Can compete better than Buku imo.

Playing ruck in the AFL is a different task though and I don’t think he’s ready for that yet. Although, maybe the Eagles is the team to try it out against

Has been the backup ruck the last 3 weeks in the VFL, got 7,4 and 5 hitouts. Rucked a bit against Max Ramsden last week who is also young but a pretty big boy and wasn't too out of place.

Poulter’s problem is that he’s neither fish nor fowl.

Not robust enough and not enough leap to be competing in the air with the big blokes despite his height, and not zippy and agile enough to be a threat in traffic or on the burst. Not strong enough to break tackles the way Bont, Dale and Richards do either.

He’s good at most things but not outstanding in any one of them. That’s a recipe for being an excellent VFL player but never more than fringe AFL.

I’d still persevere another year in case he does find a new level but I’m not too hopeful.

So it’s possible Croft is a direct replacement for Poulter because he can do most of what Poulter does but can also ruck and is better in the air. However I’d be surprised if we retained all of English Darcy Naughton Lobb Croft O’Donnell and Busslinger in the selected 22. That’s 7 players 195cm+ and not a lot of run.

That’s why I’m saying Busslinger’s spot is at risk. Unless there’s a surprise out among the other talls of course.

Outside of Buss all of them are quick and agile though

He might not be a star but at 25, 100kg and with enough games under his belt, the other Bailey Williams actually makes a pretty good test for young Croft.
Tim pretty much goes to 85%+ of the CBAs meaning he'd worst case have to go to 15% of them which isn't much
