Preview Changes versus Eagles

Will be interesting to see how both teams adapt to the ground.
North haven't played there since round 2 and the Eagles never have.
Skills will need to be good, as it can get quite breezy.
I remember in the GWS game, some kicks got blown out bounds on the full by the wind.
We need to make the most of our opportunities, i think we can win if we do.

.... didn't see the Adelainde game? As per previous posts, the 3 talls works because one gets the 3rd tall defender and gets off the leash. It was Hansen against Saints, Robbie against Crows. It's worked 2/2 so there's no way it will be changed unless it's really wet.

Cunnington - Hurn

I have no issue with your reasoning for the three talls. Clearly that is working, I am not suggesting to change the 3 tall structure - I am suggesting one person in that structure could be replaced if he doesn't perform with an equally or better performed tall ready to come in.

Cunnington will stay in 2s I would think, plus is not fast enough to stay with Hurn. When Cunnington next plays, I think he needs to be used more offensively in the midfield rotation.

I really don't understand, for the past 2 and a half seasons our tall forwards have not looked as good as they have in the past 2 games.

I get that you want Pedo in but I am not 100 % on why other than you rating him ahead of Taz.

Taz has been on the list for 4 years, played a handful of games, got to a point where he shows something and you want him out because that something wasn't backed up the following week? without wanting to get into the whole gifting games thing he still needs more time at AFL level.

My opinion on how the current forward line is working is

Drew - goes where he wants up and down the ground
Hansen - roams FF to CHB
Robbie - moves between FF and CHF

Pedo is not a stand and deliver forward. last year the most exciting play with him in it involved streaming back towards goal.

The net result of the above is that Taz and Pedo offer different things, our 3 tall forwards kicked 7 goals against the crows and 8 against the saints. To me that says that its working and I am not sure why we would want to upset that.

The exception is the weather, if it is wet the Pedo may add a level of versatility that Taz cannot

OF, as per our our earlier discussion, in some ways I agree with you and the selectors certainly agree with you.

However, I dont agree with its worked twice so we should keep the players indefinitely (Petrie excluded). Those goal tallies were OK, but 7 or 8 between 3 "key" forwards? Most teams would expect that also. Secondly, yes I really like the structure and testing opposition defense with height, but players are not untouchable based on results alone - otherwise ask Marty Clarke why he was dropped - they have won 8 or so straight.

I do however, agree that Taz/Pedo are not the same type of players - different strengths despite their similar size. Pedo has better skills/hands, mobility and flexibility and I think adds more to the team at the moment.

As for the "hater" claims, (not you OF, others), just because I or whoever rates the list differently from top to bottom doesn't make them a hater - whatever that actually is. By the same token, I could argue that anyone who rates Taz above Pedo is a hater for the reciprocal reason - which I wouldn't as its obviously stupid.

To put my cards on the table, I think Taz still has some way to go, and I am not in his fan club just yet. I know most of this board is, hence why I stand out.

Time will tell. I dont have any favourites and just call it as I see the best 22 on how I would pick my side. If thats different to the majority, so be it.

Lets make it 4 in a row North.
I don't want to sit through an Eagles win
:footy: Bring the intensity of the Adelaide/St Kilda games.
The Eagles won't have their jeering crowd and cheat umpires.

Any chance Azza will come in ?
I'm wary of messing with our winning formula though...

I am not saying indefinitely I am saying based upon his last two games and the fact we have a forward line where multiple talls are kicking goals, he gets another week weather permitting. After the year we have had to say that I am nervous of upsetting the apple cart is an understatement.

One of the criticisms I have with our selectors is we seem to hang on too long or ship out too quick.

However I put faith in them to understand far better than I where players are at.

I agree Taz has far to go, he is still yet to show that the Crows game wasn't a flash in the pan. FWIW if he plays on this weekend it will be the first time in his career that he has played 4 weeks in a row.

Blundstone is a long, wide ground so we will need as much run as we can get. It also provides us with more space in which to break through the WCE press which is their main weapon in controlling the game via domination of territory. If we can break through that regularly then we will generate enough inside 50's to put a decent score on the board. It's going to take a bloody strong performance to keep up with these guys so hopefully we can continue at the same intensity we have been showing the last two weeks.

Put every last dollar I have on that being the only change. Pederson is no chance of coming in and I don't know where them calls are coming from and why? Cunners one more in VFL.

and were keen to get onto the plane safely, while the third was keen to find his house standing when he got home.

Even Gieschen admitted that every free paid in the ruck to Cox that day was an error. That's 5 free clearances, which can make a difference in a game of football.

Not really any difference if you actually put any rationale or substance to the claim.

Only 4 were in the ruck which Geisch thought were wrong, and of those 4, 3 were claimed out of the ruck clearly by Eagles players before the whistle and stop of play, including 1 play on to advantage WCE clearance, so even if no free was paid we still had the clearances. The one clearance that spilled to a North player was the only one that was possibly a legit free with Hmacs other arm over the shoulder, but even so the ball was claimed by NM close to the boundary with two Eagles closing and no easy close NM options.

So no, they dont really make a difference in a game of football if you actually give any thought to it rather than just spurt out a feel good claim.

What part of 8-0 fwd 50 frees and 29-15 overall do they not get?

You are a great football club but you get a good run. There is no need to write bullshit and clog up the board of our great club with your verbal diarrhea and ludicrous ramblings.

I hope we rip that campaigner Shuey's head off. If Firitto doesn't attack his shoulder this week off the square I will be livid. We need to attack them at every contest, I want it to be a ****ing war zone out there. If they are going to get a free, lets make sure they really earn it.

Everyone bleating about free kicks to the Eagles should just get over it, move on. It's old news. The Eagles played Collingwood in Melbourne, on a ground they only see a couple of times a year and with no home crowd or "terrified" umpires and got within 3 points of the form team and probably "premiership favourites". So if all this ump/free kick carry on suggests the Eagles can only win because of that, then I don't think people really know what they are talking about, or haven't watched enough of the Eagles this year. If North win and they might well do so, it will have nothing to do with the umpires either way. If North are good enough they'll get up.

Relying on dodgy afl stats again rather than actually watching a replay and forming an opinion? Ziebell and Edwards scored goals directly from forward 50 frees in the last quarter. Got anything else incorrect to claim that you'd like me to rebut?

As for 29-15 overall - so what it happens... when we played you before that in 2011 you got the rub 30-18 in your favour (at Pattersons too, and we beat you despite the unevenness, rather than make excuses for not being good enough), but didnt hear you complaining about how unfair that was...

In the HS the following day it listed frees at 29:15 and fwd 50 frees 8-0 in your favor. If they were wrong, I am wrong.

Hopefully we'll see how good you are without player assist on. I know you are a good team but you cannot dispute that Shuey is a cheat. Both Selwoods cheat. And WA umpires cheat.

And FFS if Josh Hill Kicks 4 again I will lose my shit.

I am wrong.

You said it not me :thumbsu:

And WA umpires cheat.
You mean the Victorian umpires dont you, seeings two of the three umps were Victorian when we played you...

And FFS if Josh Hill Kicks 4 again I will lose my shit.
Judging by the rants, looks like you already have!

PS Take the banter the way its intended please - always love a good too and fro before a match to make it more interesting :thumbsu:

Rationalize away, but you are neglecting the fact that with free kicks out of the ruck your team is able to structure up ahead of the ball gaining a significant territorial advantage. Anyway you look at it, you had the rub of the green. Enjoy it. Here's hoping for my voice's sake it goes our way this week.

dry conditions on saturday, perfect. Just the one change then.
Out Campbell
IN Thompson

Think we match up well in defence
Delaney-Lynch
Thompson-Darling
Grima- Nicnat/cox
Atley-Hill
Firrito-Masten
McMahon-Hams

Firrito on Masten is a terrible match-up for North. Masten is in good form, has an elite level of endurance and will run Firrito into the ground. Firrito is stronger and will out-body and out-mark Masten, but Masten isn't going to play the style of game to get himself into that situation. Masten is going to run off him and accumulate big numbers if Firrito can't run with him all day.

Atley should go to Masten, while Firrito should go to Hill.
