IMO Its a 50/50 game.

Outside of the EF, we have a good record against Port. Now, we also are a good traveling side. In saying that, you guys would have been stung by the loss on the weekend and would want to genuinely make amends. Also there is real feeling from both sides when playing each other so i doubt the cornes factor will be that great, as you guys will go flat stick anyway.

Our main issue all year, is that we have yet played a 4 quarter game. We won on the weekend as we finally for most part of the game fixed our disposal. So once we stopped turning the ball over all the time, we could actually start to use our strength which has always been our spread and over lap. If we bring our kicking boots and actually play with AFL standard disposal, it will be a cracking game.

Its one of those games that might very well run both teams into some form with a high octane, give us your best shot type of game...or you could just smack us by 68 points because the weak minded richmond turned up :p

well, despite the unpredictable nature of the Tigers of years gone by, I rate your team and coach.

Surprised to see so many 'experts' write off the Tigers before the season even started.

well, the Tiges aren't alone.. we are yet to play a 4 quarter game either!

I'm a massive fan of Ah Chee I'm just worried if we take Mitchell and White out for 2 inside players in Ollie and Ah Chee we lose on the spread?

Not questioning Ollie just both.

the spread that wasn't happening and to be honest since White did his heel or whatever against North I'm not sure there's been much actual positive benefit when either of these have gotten the ball with us moving forward. Unfortunately as most of us playing football before would know you can't underestimate the mental effect one player can have on a team that you don't have confidence in their ability to deliver the ball after you've given it to them or received from them. You have to give it to them as they are in the right spot but at the same time you are like this is going to get ****ed up. I feel like some of our malaise\flatness can be attributed to this a bit.

I would have thought most AFL players could handball like that, I don't see it as anything unique to Ah Chee but thats just me :)

That distance and that accuracy?

Completely agree. I'm not sure I'm buying the 'We're bigger than last year' shit Hinkley has been selling.

Id be surprised if any player is bigger this season than they were last year. One thing you notice is how lean we look compared to our opponents, in both the AFL and the SANFL.

Formula for selections:
1) We need to select players with confidence (i.e. in form)
2) We need to drop 1 or 2 senior players who are not meeting team goals
3) We select Bobby and Wines
4) We put players on notice who make the Richmond 22 from the skin of their teeth

I was howled down when I said how lean we were at the beginning of the season. Everyone said "yeah but its all muscle" - bullshit I say.
We are not the same team as last year - physically or mentally.
There has been no 'manic' desperation with the exception of 3 or 4.
Too much emphasis on 'composure - not enough on work 'ya arse off' football.
We will turn it around but this season has been poorly planned - "if it aint broke".

I don't think we are going to make many changes. The players got themselves into this mess, they are going to have to get themselves out of it.

Interesting but I think you are right..This is the mantra ..."your form drops off and someone in the ressies will take your place ..nothing surer"

Now when you don't want to drop your gold passes you blame it on the team , rather than individuals...Ho Hum

wtf? He has touched up 3 of the most talented players this year and was rested 1 game. Just about the best tagger in the comp still and quite frankly the best tagger of the last 10-15 years. The only difference this year is he has played like a mortal, getting 15-20 touches like every other tagger in the game instead of 25-30 like last year.
Too slow. Can't kick. He is a decent tagger, but I think you are over rating him.

My changes are a bit vanilla.

In: Ah Chee, Carlile, Wines
Out: Mitchell, O'Shea, White

B: Jack Hombsch ~ Alipate Carlile ~ Jarman Impey
HB: Jasper Pittard ~ Jackson Trengove ~ Matthew Broadbent
C: Hamish Hartlett ~ Travis Boak ~ Brad Ebert
HF: Chad Wingard ~ Patrick Ryder ~ Angus Monfries
F: Nathan Krakouer ~ Jay Schulz ~ Justin Westhoff
R: Matthew Lobbe ~ Robbie Gray ~ Oliver Wines

Int: Kane Cornes ~ Brendon Ah Chee ~ Thomas Jonas ~ Karl Amon
Best post in the thread. Keep it simple.

There's been some pretty fantastic posts regarding the changes required and I think it predominantly revolves around filling in the role that Wines has left. Having Andrew Moore in at the moment would be quite helpful. I think we're also too tall/too slow for the game style we're good at, and hopefully some tweaking is done to reflect this.

Hinkley is tweaking the game plan, the past two weeks have unfortunately failed. It isn't doom and gloom, I feel like people are forgetting the finals last year. We were ****ing incredible. We've taken it up to the undefeated team AT HOME, we managed to stop a Hawthorn assault, we defeated the Crows despite the criticisms regarding losing Walsh = being disastrous. My favourite though is beating ****ing North at Etihad, which in essence has been a double whammy for us for years.

We're gonna be ok!

In terms of changes, I'd like to see a bit of added grunt for the inside and more aggressive midfielders. Since Matt White came running into that goal square and did something to his hammy I feel like something has been up. Wouldn't mind him being given a rest for a couple weeks. I feel like Amon did his role and did it well, wouldn't mind seeing him stay. Cornes looked depleted and his kicks were too costly - if this wasn't his 300th, I'd suggest giving him a rest.

Really hoping Wines is ready to come in, but we need more midfielders willing to undertake his role in the midfield - we can't rely on one player. This is what I was hoping Voss would tackle, and I think he will be focusing on this from here. Our forward line needs restructuring as well.

We need more grunt and differentiation with our players. We need a crumber. We need to structure more like a conventional team.

Players I would to see included in the team,

Wines, Carlile, Moore, Ah Chee (I don't understand why he was dropped), Neade (we need a crumber and forward pressure), Stewart.

Players to leave out of the side,

Mitchell and O'Shea for a long stint at the Magpies. White needs a rest. Westhoff and Jonas need a rocket. If it wasn't Kane Corne's last game I would suggest Kane Cornes. Maybe Impey.

Yep, feel the same about the Tigers but Hardwick has thrown the list around plenty this season. Though there has been need for changes at Punt Rd.

The good thing about yesterday's game for Richmond was that was the best they have played this season (after quarter time) against a team that pushed them. The other wins against Carlton and Brisbane were not too inspiring. It was a massive flick of the switch of form especially given how terrible they were in the first term. How it all came together like that has me baffled but I am hoping they can continue to bring that form on Sunday.

Port have shown they can be a bit North Melbourne of old like with their ballistic goal streak blitzes that can crush a game in 20 minutes of football. I really don't want to see what happened in last year's EF happen again.

Port seem to be playing like they did mid to late last season before they picked up for the finals. If they come out like that Richmond should win. If the Tigers give the ball away and can't covert their chances they will hand the Power the 4 points.

Like most I just don't know how this one will turn out. Totally depends on which Port team and which Richmond team turn up.

Personally i don't care about how it happens I just want the Tigers to get it done. Both clubs can't afford to be 3-5 but I'd prefer it to be you guys. So wish I was going to the match. I'd love to see the Adelaide oval in its new get up. Love the city of Adelaide. Good memories there but goooo Tigers!!!!

Stewart started 2013 in the power playing good footy, but has been on the outer ever since his injury in the west coast comeback game.

Its a mystery

I'd drop anyone who has any decent niggles that are stopping them from performing at 100%. Reckon P Stewart almost has to play as well. Kenny needs to stick to his mantra and reward form.
ken hasnt rewarded form he has rewarded names, i doubt we will see the changes we all know must happen. he let things slip from a dominant position to mid packers last year when he refused to drop horribly out of form names while just shuffling around the fringe players, the season slipped away and it cost us where it really mattered at the end of the year. hopefully now he realises he must make key changes to the side, before its too late.

Out: White, O'Shea, Mitchell

In: Wines, Moore, Carlile, Neade* (not sure who else I'm dropping yet)

With White and Mitchell coming out of my side Neade probably has to come in for pace

I'd like to see either Ah Chee or Young back the following week for Kane

IN - Ollie, Neade, Carlile
Out- O'Shea, Mitchell, White

As much as i thought the whole team should go yesterday after 24hrs to me this is pretty much likely, cant go swinging too much. If the Hoff keeps producing what he has the past few weeks he should be given a rest at the Pies. He has been insipid, alot have but to me he has stood out, not only isnt he finding the ball he isnt running back hard enough, defensively he has been shithouse not sure if being lazy or playing confused. The idea of throwing him on the ball roughhead style has gone pear shaped.

If one of the main reasons for recalling Neade is for the defensive pressure he 'may' provide in the forward lines, why not simply try Impey.

Impey will naturally provide the defensive pressure, and may add a little flair that may jag a goal or two.

Having Krak in the team provides us with such an option, and if required Impey could switch back to defence seamlessly.
