mitchell out, gray in. gray is in much better form this year than he was last year when selected. its not a bad selection.

there are 4 or 5 others i would select aswell, young, ahchee, stewart, moore, neade these blokes are all in good form. gray is a much better choice form wise than oshea last week,

I think Sam Gray deserves it but so do other guys who are better long term prospects , I'm just not sure S.Gray is up to the level of AFL .
Hope I'm proved wrong .

Gray in the middle would be a disaster. Goes alright in the SANFL but would get demolised in the guts at AFL level
I dont disagree with you, but surely he gets picked to play in the mid field not as a small forward, otherwise whats the point of his selection?

My problem with Sam Gray, is that it was clear last year that Ken had no problem leaving him 1 or 2 out in our 50 while everyone else worked upfield. We did a Pagans paddock with Sam ****ing Gray and not once did it actually work.

You've got this one backwards I think. It would be better if he played as a small forward in the SANFL. Same for Mitchell.
He plays mid field in the SANFL and regularly makes our best 3 or 4 with Summo.

What REH? He's 175cm, I don't want him playing inside midfield in a must win AFL game.

He could come in and play small forward for White maybe, but really he shouldnt even be on our list.
Do you pick Logan Austin who is playing CHB to come in an play FF because Westhoff is having a poor season?? That is the sort of logic applied to Gray's selection if he plays forward. He's playing well in the guts in the SANFL, so lets give him a go in the AFL and that go will be as a small forward. It doesnt make sense to reward his good play in the guts in the SANFL and not play him there in the AFL. I wouldnt have picked him full stop, but if we play him he has to play as a mid otherwise it isnt fair on him.

Mind you the way we have played the last few weeks he will spend more time in the centre square than the forward 50m arc as our mids will be in the defensive 50m arc.

And Sam has been upgraded for the duration of Polec's injury, what does that mean for Krak? Frampton can't be far off

Framptons been listed "3-4 weeks" for the last month I reckon he won't be dropped for a while. Or we can do the old st Kilda switcheroo and replace gray with krak.

What do we want?

Big bodied midfielders!

Who do we bring in?

Sam Gray!

No, we are bringing one in ollie wines.

We also wanted and needed small crumbing forwards and now that we have one in and his name isn't jake neade everyone has already lost faith. Go figure
He ends up playing well and there will be a thread dedicated to him. We play crap its of course sammys fault because he wouldn't have worked hard enough, fumbled, missed tackle/Sheppard etc etc put it in the book

The problem is he's not a specialist small forward he plays his best football in the guts at Snafl level

hope so. cant get kicked off the park and embarrassed by the bottom side without big changes the following week.[/QUOTE

]If I look at last week Kraks last half intensity was as bad as I have seen from an AFL player, Mitchell should not play AFL ..his skills are terrible.....Th Hoff is confused by his role in the team first fiddle second fiddle?? so not his fault.. broady for me has been well below par, probably because Krak has half taken his sweeper role OShae, enough said

The omissions may come from that list

The error of playing a mid as a forward was also shown pre-1997 with David Brown when Adelaide tried to make him into a small forward. He played 69 games in 6 seasons at 13.26 disposals for them and kicked 4 goals on 2 occasions, averaging 0.79 goals as a forward. He played 22 games for Port in the midfield and averaged 18.27, 20.17 in his first season. He also averaged 0.81 goals.

I am happy to give Sam Gray a chance. I don't really understand all the hate here.
