White being played as a small forward is Ken's stubbornness showing through. He is not a small forward. He needs to be able to run full tilt at goals from behind centre.

Ken shows admirable loyalty to his players like Fos Williams did, but Ken those players won Fos 9 premierships. These guys have won bupkiss.

Agreed...
Whites game is built on pace, not as a small forward. If he cant run coz of an injury / OP, then he shouldnt be playing.

Anyone else worried that the team will just expect a repeat of the first quarter from last year's semi-final?

This team has been playing like this all year, they just expect it to happen!
They expected to have an easy run against WC and Brisbane and got found out. They are now low on confidence and the oppo can smell blood.
Compare it to last year when teams feared playing us, now they're lining up for a crack.

Definitely (assuming you mean the elimination final;)), and even if we deliver and win it'll only mask the problems of the past two weeks. With Kane's last match and following two insipid performances, the players have plenty extra motivation to perform.

The problem is, performances like the first half vs Hawks are pointless if they're not backed up week after week. The following week's game and the match after that will tell us more about where we are at

Out: Mitchell (omit), White (inj), O'Shea (to be sure)
In: Moore, Neade, Carlile.

Keep Amon in for another game or replace him with Ah Chee.

I don't think the players would even think they are capable of that at the minute, confidence is way down. I'd rather we just come out, play tough hard football, not at breakneck speed, just grind it out out like professionals for four quarters, simple... that's all I want this week, no razzle or dazzle just bloody compete.

whatever happens, Hinkley needs to give the boys an old fashioned rocket..

there is a smell about Hawthorn 2009 about us at the moment and I'm not liking it one bit..

Mitchell and O'shea at the very minimum need a rest.

Is he ready to go?
Seems too soon given the early prognosis on the wrist.

I think Ken alluded to it in the West Coat presser that he would be playing this week. In days gone by I reckon he would of played against Brisbane, (with a gaurd on) - they seem to be playing extra safe this year with injuries.

Likening us to Hawthorn 2009 or Geelong 2006 is as big a cop out as "one kick away from a grand final". Nothing is going to just happen. Likening our current situation to those two teams still assumes things will just happen for us, if not this year, then next. We are Port Adelaide 2015 and nothing else. And unlike Hawthorn 2009 we don't have two young superstar key forwards about to hit their peak.

I agree with you.. we appear to be expecting to win without the intent to win, it is clear as day..

in any case, we were a bees d1ck away from being 4 and 1 and are now 3 and 4 being a win away from the top 8 and 2 wins from 2nd spot.

Whilst I think we all agree that the season is young and our season is salvagable and a bit more more, the lads let all of their 60,000 members down last night.

The boys need a team only meeting and air all the issues and hold nothing back. Countless sides that have gone on to achieve the ultimate have done that. We need something along those lines for the leaders to step up and get everyone on the same page. Coaches can only do so much

OUTS: Mitchell, White, O'Shea.
INS: Carlile, Wines, Stewart(SUB).
Jonas is next in line for the chop. I would not blink an eye if he was dropped for another midfielder(Ah Chee). Allows Broadbent to go back to HBF to help rebound with Pitttard.
Each of Moore, Young and Neade need another week of consistency at SANFL. Even the Hoon might be an outside chance(he was travelling emergency?). Then the best one out of those 3-4 replaces Cornes.
We have played really dumb football for two weeks now. We have been so worried about getting our hands on the ball at the contest(which we suck at at the moment excluding Gray) that we have no outside run to feed it to. The old see ball get ball has not worked since we have lost our extractor(Wines) and our outside run(Polec). Polec is a much bigger out than we ever anticipated, even though he played on one foot for most of the season. This is made worse by White either being played out of position or playing injured.
Westhoff to never start in the centre square again. Wingard to be told that he is a small forward and that he must stay down at marking contests ffs. Hartlett, Ebert and Boak need to step up big time in the midfield this week or we are doomed to ruin what should be a fairy-tale send off for a club great.

Just thinking Jonas out for Moore..
Hoon for Mitchell is a no brainer for mine ( we are worried about Hoons use of the ball? We'll go with Mitchell? [emoji15])

spot on, I couldn't agree more..

As much as I hate to say it, because I am a huge Jonas fan, he is out of form. Polec looked to be one of the few players that had improved from last year. Pittard is usually a barometer for our side and his clangers on the weekend probably showed where we are at for the moment. For someone of his talent, Hartlett needs to put 4 quarters together.

I quite liked Neades game yesterday in the SANFL so wouldn't mind betting he is looked at closely this week. Our forward line has been pretty horrible all season to date so he might add some zip and unpredictability as long as he doesn't get caught playing man on man.

Wines being out of the team has also highlighted how critical he is to the likes of Boak and Ebert's game.

I don't watch every magpies game but from what I've read from Buddhas reviews, I'm surprised that O'Shea played yesterday and it showed.

Mitchell is a good addition when the team is in form and winning. He was very ineffectual yesterday in a team clearly our of form.

I don't the think Ken likes tinkering with his core group of players. He's a big one for players familiarising themselves with each other until they reach that Geelong and Hawthorn style instinctive "give" stage. For this reason he'll persist with Jonas and Westhoff and do no more than tinker with the edges of his "best" 22.

Nope. Port will lift for Cornes. We are zero chance this week and the following week when Fletcher plays his 400th against us. if we play a team full of kids again, which I hope we do, we will get belted.

More than countered by Choco and Chaplin.
