coz that would be embarrassing...

Or this guy...

I don't the think Ken likes tinkering with his core group of players. He's a big one for players familiarising themselves with each other until they reach that Geelong and Hawthorn style instinctive "give" stage. For this reason he'll persist with Jonas and Westhoff and do no more than tinker with the edges of his "best" 22.

I'd be hesitant to drop Jonas because of his matchup capabilities - all he needs to do is get his hands on the ball more as he has been pretty critical to our running game in previous years. He has been pretty fumbly with the ball this year too.

Westhoff is too much of an unpredictable weapon to drop. He has shown that he can turn it around pretty quickly but he clearly hasn't found his place in the side with Ryder yet.

Yeah I see where he's coming from because I think this 'core group' in our defense is working very well except for Jonas. Is he injured? He's not the same force of nature that he was in 2014.

he has been 'off' all year from my perspective..

Hombsch is playing well enough to be in the AA Squad for me. The GWS have an embarassment of riches but I would have thought the question has been asked why he was traded to the PAFC.

Because Steve Silvagni is a chump. We got Jack Hombsch and Jake Neade for pick #29. And this is the bloke who gets to rebuild Carlton's list.

Okay. After a day of processing the loss I agree with Schulzenfest 's changes on the first page of this thread.

Outs:

O'Shea - He wasn't in form at SANFL level and he played like an out of form SANFL player. See you after the bye when you remember how to play football, Cam.
Mitchell - Just offers absolutely nothing when we're up against it. He's a front runner in every sense of the word and helps make us look $1,000,000 when we're up and about, but that's all he does.
White - Carrying an injury by the looks of it, and just isn't as damaging without his pace. Hasn't been great for a while. Needs to earn his spot back.
Impey - We already have 3 running half backs and Krak has made himself undroppable. We know he'll tear up the SANFL, but I can't quite squeeze him in.

Ins:
Wines - We miss him in the guts like John Butcher misses set shots.
Carlile - Obvious back in. Our whole back 6 will improve with his form and leadership.
Neade - Our lack of competitiveness when the ball hit the deck over the last 6 quarters has been absolutely pathetic. Neade is in good form and is the crumber we sorely, sorely lack.
Ah Chee - We need some size and effort at stoppages. He really shouldn't have been dropped and deserves his spot straight back.

If we can get Carlile, Wines, Neade and Moore in for Mitchell, O'Shea, Impey and Amon or White I'll be happier with what our sides looks like on paper. I respect Kane Mitchell's effort, but get him out now. Moore, Young and AhChee deserve games over him and always have. I don't feel we can play both of Mitchell and Cornes and have been saying it for weeks now. Time to load up with Moore, Young or AhChee send Mitchell back to the SANFL to get his disposal up to the required level.

Totally agree about Mitchell, he is a front runner and someone who doesn't work hard enough both ways.
Also not sure how O'Shea got a game on his SANFL form, and that showed last night. Terrible decision by the coaching panel.

Not sure about Neade, maybe if we were to give White a rest it'd be a like for like change almost.

We must show up as supporters en masse for this game

This is when the team needs us the most to bring the noise, colour and unwavering support

We have an opportunity to celebrate our first 300 game player, honour Kane's career and enjoy a win

spot on, I want to see the house +50k as a show of support to our lads and most importantly, a great servant of the PAFC.

My changes are a bit vanilla.

In: Ah Chee, Carlile, Wines
Out: Mitchell, O'Shea, White

B: Jack Hombsch ~ Alipate Carlile ~ Jarman Impey
HB: Jasper Pittard ~ Jackson Trengove ~ Matthew Broadbent
C: Hamish Hartlett ~ Travis Boak ~ Brad Ebert
HF: Chad Wingard ~ Patrick Ryder ~ Angus Monfries
F: Nathan Krakouer ~ Jay Schulz ~ Justin Westhoff
R: Matthew Lobbe ~ Robbie Gray ~ Oliver Wines

Int: Kane Cornes ~ Brendon Ah Chee ~ Thomas Jonas ~ Karl Amon

it just hit me - our side is a classic 'looks imposing on paper' side at the moment.

I'm a massive fan of Ah Chee I'm just worried if we take Mitchell and White out for 2 inside players in Ollie and Ah Chee we lose on the spread?

Not questioning Ollie just both.

It's a fair point. We're not getting much out of White and Mitchell at the moment. With White lame and Polec injured, we don't have many outside options outside of bringing in Neade or Colquhoun and asking a lot of Krakouer.

They don't give us this spread anyway. With Wines and/or Moore in the guts we get that spread from guys like Boak, Gray and Wingard. At the moment we're asking those guys to bury their heads in the bottom of packs and that's not really their go. I'm not really sure what Mitchell's purpose is to be honest.

I'm tipping Moore would be in front of Ah Chee, I wasn't overly impressed with his game in the SANFL yesterday.

Moore is a favourite of Kenny so expect him to come into this side at the earliest opportunity. He was BOG yesterday and had a ripping pre season. In reality, Moore should have been playing his 4th AFL game in a row.

Mitchell is playing a defensive wing 'sort of' position, he was very ineffective yesterday (as was O'Shea).

As much as Jonas is out of form, I highly doubt he will be dropped given his matchup capabilities and vice captaincy role (unless they are looking to make a statement!).

I like the thought of Neade have a crack this weekend, he was very good yesterday and his work rate was really good.
