No Heeney is as big an out for this game as no Darcy, certified top 5 player in the league who can get 30 contested possessions while kicking goals. He would have demolished us. Unfortunately as Hawthorn has repeatedly shown we can still lose the midfield battle to a less talented midfield group if they have ruck dominance which they most certainly do.

Compared to the games last week only Richmond and West Coast were less experienced, and those two plus Essendon and Port were younger.

If Bont is a late out I'd wager we'd be the youngest/least experienced team this week.

McNeil or Vandermeer for Bontempelli doesn't actually make us a whole lot younger!

Sydney will win comfortably if they get enough supply to their tall forwards.

If Bont & Ed can be close to 100%, there’s a glimmer of hope that our midfield can dominate and keep the ball in our forward half.

The problem is that Grundy is going to absolutely destroy Smith. I wonder if the coaches have been working on a way to try and nullify his ruck advantage because if they go head to head, there’s a chance Smith won’t win double digit hitouts.

Very excited for Ads to get back in. Hopefully he gets through.

If papley fails a last minute fitness test and Bont is cleared we might be a very small chance.

I fear the quick rebound when we turn the ball over and Blakey, McInerney etc... slingshot and one of Curnow, Amartey and McDonald just stroll into an easy joe the goose goal.

Gards clamps Curnow with ease tonight

Astro launches into being KPF 1 kicks 6

West pulls his finger out retires Rampe

"injured" Bont has 30 and 3
I feel like there’s been a few games where Bont has been under injury or illness clouds and has dominated.

Hopefully this is the same after a down couple of weeks.

We put 149 points up against Freo a few years back with this team, always hope.

10 year premiership anniversary event tonight. How does that work with us also playing tonight? Is it before or after the game?
Players and officials only. Most now with other teams will also be in attendance.

For the Club and supporters there is one at the MCG on Monday, for which I will be attending.

If only this was a positive thing!

Have we ever had the oldest, most experienced team? 2011?

The last two games have been such Bevo losses.

If we win this, it would be such a Bevo win.

Lose when there’s hope

Win when hope is fading.

Monday??
There's no public holiday for ANZAC day this year as it's on a Saturday.. This is the first i've heard of this Monday event.
Is this the extent of the GF anniversary celebrations?
They're certainly keeping it low key.
Thursday night & Monday indeed.

Emails were sent to members and was on the socials. Originally was to be at the Whitten Oval but the response was so big they moved it to the G

Oh all-knowledgeable Skinny10 exactly what 7 players were they and were they all being played out of position when we were up by 50?
Yes they were
If you watch the replay you’ll figure it out

I’ll give you a clue - Freijah should not be playing half forward or pressure forward

What about the Hawthorn game? Had 3 touches in the first half wasting away on the flank

As for Croft has clearly got a sore shoulder like his old man
Thankfully Will Lewis played quite well and can probably replace him

Stevo on that Zero Hanger crap is convinced Bont won't play.

Some of the garbage I read about his match last week was insane, I thought he was really good
One dumb brainfade that was clearly the sign of a nervous player early at the level and probably not going to be repeated influences people's view. To me he reads the play very well, and is a surprisingly neat kick for a VFL player who is a key forward (normally those types of players previously got overlooked in the draft because they can mark, but they can't hit the side of a barn door).

If Lewis was currently on our VFL list, given the bags of goals he's kicked recently in our VFL team including 5 in the GF, people would be scrambling to suggest that we mid season draft him as Darcy cover.

As with most He said, She said dilemmas. The truth probably lies in the middle. He was Mediocre at best.

I completely agree
Nice to see some original thinkers around here that won't pot players for nervous mistakes
