I would be playing Lobb and English in the ruck and try Buss/Emmett/ Croft depending who is best in defence.

Obviously there’s an injury component there, but it does give us a gap when you look at other teams.

My concern is more that there hasn’t been appropriate list management across that period. Nobody wins flags with a team of first rounders.

He was more than competant in the AFL team when he played there. He was though no better than Lobb or JOD so it was understandable why he was out.

The gap between he and Lobb was not as great or even as close to as great than he and Emmett when English went out

You may get some heat for this but we should be picking a team to win and these changes if they gel is a better opportunity than if we do not go down that path. Only McNeil the quintsential non taker of opportunity is questionable

Our 9 losses totalled 124 points last season, our last 2 losses total is 115 points. Not sure where our next win will be. After the swans and dockers both losses you would expect and Port away is no give me. Maybe the Blues with a lot of players back.

I’m not sure what use senior experience is if you can’t execute basic skills.

There’s zero use to McNeil. VDM I can understand because at least he’s had some decent games before.

Same applies to Coffield, not sure how he got an extension after his games last year.

VDM has some good attributes still.

I think this a time when we need to focus on the present rather than look too far down the track.

Try to field a competitive team that isn’t going to get blown off the park and see who can stand up in times of adversity.

Yep, or shift him forward. He is a liability in defence unless we are dominating the midfield.

If you watched Friday night until the end rather than turn away in disgust as many did you would have seen a bunch of times where professional but inexperienced footballers failed to do the most basic of tasks, real ‘deer in the headlights’ style behaviour.

We can’t risk that happening further, our biggest mistake was going in to the last couple of games with a less than critical mass of capable senior experience.

Pencilling in losses to Swans and Freo. At 4/4 barring anymore significant injuries and most of our injured players back the Port, Blues and Dees game will define our season. We will need to win all those at 7 wins 4 losses we are in reasonable shape ladder wise.

I really like VDM, I think it’s harsh putting him in the same convo as McNeil and Gardner.
