Preview Changes versus Tigers

I think that this will be a very tight game. The Tigers have a lot to prove. They must bounce back from last week otherwise much of the good stuff they have done this year will have been a waste of time. I wish they had given Martin 3 weeks off because I think he will come out firing. Losing Ziebell; Petrie and Adams if they play will have injury clouds over them; in my view these factors suggest we will below where we have been over recent weeks and if we turn up with less than 100% commitment, we could cop a hiding.

The Tiges are in a similiar position to Carlton. They will have to maintain possession of a lot of the ball in order to manufacture goals.

Tigers use the footy more than we do, using more handball and more uncontested marking. We have them on scoring shots and inside 50's per game, indicating we are more direct when we have the ball, which we all know. If Dish does come up, the three talls will really stretch the Tigers and their lack of multiple tall targets will only count against them if we choke up their space. Interesting game coming up.

We should also be able to get them with the number of players capable of scoring from half forward/midfield. Boomer, Thomas, Adams, Harper, Basti, Wells and Anthony are all capable of getting multiple goals and if VFL form is anything to go by, so is Cunnington.

Looking forward to this one. I can see the Tigers coming out hard. If we can hold them in the first I reckon we'll win and win well. Too much firepower.

That's how I see it. They will need to possess and will try to spread us and open us up out wide with Grigg and Houli.

We need to get numbers back, put the choke hold on Reiwoldt, Nahas and Martin, then go like the clappers down the guts and bang it back on top of Drew, Lachies and Robbies heads when we have the ball.

No high falutin' over possessing fancy handpass stuff around the stoppages either. Just bash it forward and get on our bikes.

Notwithstanding our recent poor form and outs, what on earth makes you think you can beat us by 3x more than any other top 8 team this year? Our worst loss for the year was 44 in round 1. From memory or next worst was 21 v the Pies the following week.

While I think you'll win (especially of Petrie plays), I wouldn't be dismissing our ins with the cavalier attitude you have, you can bet Scott doesn't.

I think his tongue was firmly in cheek.:p

Yeah, just playing back. Never know how far you can push it on a board you haven't visited before. For reference, my first extensive opposition board experience was Carlton - while Parrot was active. For some reason I've found every subsequent board visit a pleasant experience.

It did teach me to be polite though. :D

Good good good. Hope Patch and Drew keep improving and there are no late changes. I'm having enough trouble explaining to my 6 year old why Jack won't be playing - no Drew too and I'm not sure how our afternoon would recover (only his and mine, of course, I'm confident the team would go fine either way).

Brad has already stated that they will play barring no unforeseen circumstances so that should be enough confirmation that they will play. Can't wait to beat these pretenders!:)

Don't tip, sorry. Would be unfair to others up against me.

3 things my friend:

- Goldy will dominate in the ruck. I fail to see how you'll win the midfield battle if you can't get first use. Guys like Cox can combat Goldy with strength and experience, Maric isn't enough of a threat in those areas yet.
- Forward line efficiency. I said before the Carlton game last week any inside 50 we register will be 10x more damaging, the same goes this week.
- Nathan Grima. Even if Richmond do get on top for a bit and win some quick clearances we have Grima, who we were sorely missed in the first half of the year, with the ability to kill the ball in the air and not allow it to fall into dangerous terriority.

I don't think Richmond are a bad side and I expect you guys to stay within striking distance (6-7 goals) for most of the game before we kick on late.

We're a top 4 side masquerading as the 9th side on the ladder. After a few more dominating performances the recognition will start to come and opposition supporters will fear us.

Excuse my arrogance, however if you've been watching North the last few weeks you'll know it's deserved.

Wow bit rich for me. I love your attitude though. And of course hope your 100% correct.

I'm going with a more simpler approach to this game. Win the mids and the rest will fall into place.

I wouldn't be so sure. The Mullet [tm] was by most accounts in AA form in the first half of the year, and has had a weeks R&R. Let's be frank though, the myth of the dominant ruck is long gone. If you have a decent competition 9/10 times it's the clearance players who make the clearance work - thus the difference of having Jackson and Dusty in. The concern for us will be when Maric is not contesting. Say it's 20-30% of the game - that's when you should be aiming to win it.

No arguments there.

Except we have been scoring from the midfield more than the forward line this year. If Grima goes to Jack and is beaten (and Jack has been getting better and better in the second half of the year) the midfield scoring will be the cream rather than the meat.

Again, why would we capitulate to you rather than West Coast, Collingwood, Sydney, Adelaide etc?

Close, been watching North quite a bit. Have said from the start of the year you'll be top 6, and sincerely glad to see you getting there. But I'd argue we're a team that is just learning to beat the best - which you are not quite yet.

You're coming up against us after a humiliating defeat at our favourite ground with significant ins. While I'll be tipping you this week, I would not be surprised if we won.

Honest question, despite your 71 pt prediction, if you beat us by 3 would you be happy?

In terms of making finals, yes, we just need the four points anyway we can get them. But in terms of head-to-head comparisons, no. I would hope North are a six goal side better than Richmond.

At the start of the year I'd have agreed, but now I think it might be closer to say 2-4 goals. The future is another discussion though.:)

Patch named on the bench, possible late change if his shoulder doesn't come up?

He has started on the bench quite a few times. Regardless where he is named would matter not for a late withdrawal.
