Watch JK and Darling work in tandem off the ball live at the game. It is something to behold. They both work together to create space for each other. Take players who have played so much footy together out of the forward line and throw in a bunch of kids, of course our organisation suffers. It takes many years to develop intrinsic understanding of running patterns. Not much we can do about it in the short term unfortunately.

Refreshing to read a post from a poster who actually understands the finer points of the game plan and tactical analysis.:thumbsu:

Jack in particular has been screening and guarding the space between himself and JK since day one.
Many on this board have been very quick to bag and slag Jack over the years and at the same time fail to see how much he contributes to clean air space for JK to lead and mark in.
Also the cooperation between the two ,in not blocking up leading lanes, is as good as any two pronged key forwards working relationship, that I have seen.

It infuriates me when players with low footy IQ and awareness run into the clear leading lanes and stuff up the play , it stifles both momentum and quick ball movement. There are serial offenders who do this on a regular basis.... namely Hutchings, Masten are probably the worst.
Le Cras reads it very well as does Cripps .
The young turks are still learning it but thus far Snake and Willie are showing good signs, Ryan needs to get better at it it , but that I am sure will come with time.

Darling and Kennedy are a formidable tandem force and one thats extremely difficult for opposition coaches to counter.

I did, I tried pointing out to you you were making no sense. I don't think you had the capacity to get the point.

Seeing as the problem in the first half was that our mids weren't winning the ball and it was permanently in Essendon's front half, I don't see how moving an important player out of there down to the other end of the ground to catch a cold would have helped.

True well Darling is out for the next two and JK at least one.

That means against Adelaide we have to be creative and inventive going forward. Use Gov or Vardy just to compete and provide a target.

Vardy is weeks away from AFL fitness levels from reports.

Providing a target is no good if we just bomb it in.

Essendon I feel exploited this by having multiple fast skillful rebounding defenders and two quality tall backs. They simply did not hesitate in the first quarter to play on and attack off half back.

We need to lower our eyes and use shorter foot passing getting the ball inside our 50 and only kick to players leading into space.

Simpson should have moved him in the 2nd quarter up forward. Coach has no idea

I suggest you apply for the senior coaching position for 2019. If WC see your credentials they will kick this useless Simpson out the door. Theres a few other posters who can be your assistants and possibly players.

The forwards inability to kick straight was a factor but we lost this game in the first half when we missed tackles, gave the opposition all the space they wanted and lost the mid field battle. These are the problems that must be addressed. After the first quarter the team was shell shocked and missed easy shots at goal. What is wrong with the mid field? Was it that NN was not dominant against Bellchambers? Are they dysfunctional with an underdone Shuey back? Why can't our rucks take a mark? Why didn't the midfielders tackle effectively? Is the coaching panel not working? Or is it that they just didn't believe they could win without JK and JD? Also it is possible that because both Sydney and Essendon are physical teams we were exposed as soft. Young players do not have the bodies to match the strong bodies of Essendon.
There is serious thinking to be done and mucking around with the forward line is not going to help. For example it is clear the McInnes was the best option against Sydney. Instead they threw a young body against Sydney, then changed back to McInnes. McInnes would now be looking to have 3 games in a row building confidence. The error was compounded by choosing an underdone new player in Ryan.

When all the carnage was happening early, Essendon were establishing a massive lead in possessions, which they retained till the end of the game.

There’s been a lot of talk of our inexperience; but it’s also true that we picked a side containing lots of low-production players. I’d like to see some players who can find the ball, to go along with those who get it less than 15 times a game.

To that end, I’d consider Partington, Ainsworth and a recall for Sheed. Also recall pre-injury Shuey, please.

Sheed only averaged 19 touches over the past four games.

Yes, I know, and they weren't even all that good, as touches go. But we'll struggle to win games with such a possession differential, until our magic forward line returns and can spin thread into gold.

Such an inane argument to make against someone's opinion.

To suggest unless someone has AFL coaching credentials they don't have a valid opinion is ludicrous.

Shut the whole board down of this is the case.
There would probably be about 2 posters left lol.

Try again to discuss the point.

To suggest a coach with ACTUAL credentials "has no idea" is the inane opininion.

Anyone listing JJK on their ins for this one is high as a kite.

After Collingwood if we are extremely lucky imo. Could easily blow out to 8 weeks plus.

I think we will start to get bad news on JD return date in the next week or two as well.

18 actually.

I always get a touch before bed

Kennedy also said he had a corky.

Dont be surprised if Darling doesnt get back for the Pies. Our medicos couldnt lie straight in bed.

Yeah it is what it is unfortunately players do have a life after footy. Can’t risk their long term health for short term gains

Funny how most supporters expected bottom 6 this year and fast forward 10 weeks their expectations are winning a flag.

This is what happens when ppl swing to each extreme of the pendulum with no logic what so ever which is driven purely by stupidity or emotion.

Yes, it is great to see your team win, however, you should not be too quick to judge any performance( good or bad) on such a small sample size.

Nobody here thought we get 10 wins this year, let alone winning 10 in a row.We are work in progress, know that, acknowledge it and then make a comment based on those fundamentals.

True fans are those who know their club’s exact or near status( rebuilding, or premiership window or in between) and support them through thick and thin.

Let’s see how we finish off the year.
