You did so well until you mentioned hutchings. Really?

I have no issues with primadonnas being moved to flanks. I count sheed in that category. Worst handball in afl of anyone that has played 25 games.

Its about standard setting. We have none atm. Time for Hutchings to set some.

Having watched every WC WAFL game since West has come in, he has been our best and most consistent player. He also has attributes the current squad would benefit from: physical around the contest, chases and tackles with intent and also takes the game on.

He was the catalyst for the mini beagles
comeback against swan districts on the weekend, who only wrested back control and won once he was rested on the bench. He needs to play.

The only thing I got from this was that you paid for a The West subscription...

...what the ****?

Almost everyone wants West (who wasn't even on the list 2 months ago) to play against Adelaide. Is this is a positive or a negative for the list management\recruiting team? Really confused.

Negative about players effort and fitness first and foremost. A WAFL player has a better fitness base then the actual listed players

Dom Sheed is a definite out for me. Needs to learn how to play football again. Was struggling to even rove the ball from hitouts, very reactionary and was involved in numerous turnovers that resulted in NM goals. Love him after 2018 but he needs a big reset

I dont think we will go nuts and drop 10 players like people are suggesting.

BUT we can make some statements early on:

Out:

Darling
- Is in the worst form he has ever been in 200+ games. Time to go back to the WAFL and go learn to work hard kick goals.

Sheed - Can find the ball but gives 0 defensive efforts and im sick of his around the corner high kicks. He is an elite ball user when he wants to be but he has gone so backwards this year.

Cole - Seems to get a game every week with a role that i cant tell what it is? He doesnt seem to play on the small forwards or even use his pace to run it out the backline. Rather we used Nelson in his role.

Cripps - Played 1 good game this year and the rest has just fumbled his way through it. A seriously good player when in form but at the moment he is doing sweet FA.

In:

Williams - I was thinking maybe Waterman but he looked to be sooking it up in the WAFL from what i was watching so needs a few more games. Williams needs to get some games and i think we can let Allen play his natural position in place of Darling with Williams taking over that ruck/forward role.

West - Looked the goods last week in the WAFL so for me he plays Sheeds role in the middle and should learn to block and help out Shuey and Kelly in the middle.

LEdwards - Youth who we need to get more games into for the midfield. Play the opposite wing to gaff.

Foley - Looked great in the WAFL last week with his run and dash would be a better option than whatever Cole is offering ATM.

I don't really post much in these threads as they seem to be more wild speculation and knee jerk than predictions of the line up we'll roll with, but hey no better time to get on board with a left field pitch!

JD has a spell in the WAFL, and Allen takes his role. Oscar had one hitout, yet was equal highest goalscorer, and just about the highest marking forward for us. He is wasted in the ruck, and Jack's taking a spot without competing to the level required.

Gov swings into Oscars fwd/ruck role, and Harry Edwards returns to the back line. Edwards has been achieving more than the sum of his own parts, and Gov the opposite. I'd like to shake Gov up a bit, snap him out of whatever he's getting caught up in, so why not throw him a new role for a week and see how he goes. He can't be any worse in the ruck than Allen, and I doubt he achieves less as a forward than JD has been offering.

It simplifies the back line, TB returns to his best and Edwards plays the accountable role he has proven good at, while gaining valuable experience alongside Hurn in his final year.

Interesting idea i could get around having Gov in the forward line.

Gives him physicality in the ruck too.

Doubt Simmo would do it though..

Yeah it is very much of the wild knee jerk ilk, that idea, but I see it as a reasonable circuit breaker that doesn't rob us of anything whilst unlocking a bit more potential and getting some youth in. Wouldn't be a permanent change as JD will find form again eventually, but it could send a message and allow the team to be competitive.

We don’t win that final against Port if we don’t move Gov to the forward line.
Exciting isnt it. The only negative is that he is unfit and cannot keep working to present, is easily spoiled and has no forward craft.

We have made that mistake in the past - only idiots keep making the same mistake.
The problem like all problems is multi faceted. A key issue is a lack of fitness to play a high pressure game. (Game plan doesnt impact this element).
To make matters worse we have injured players who didnt buiild a fitness base durng the off season or lost it due to prolonged injury. This will nor be fixed until we do a tough pre season.
We also have some older players that dont traing much like JK. They need to retire.

Against North we hit in hard and had no legs after quarter time. Once fatigue sets in so do skill errors, poor decisions, pressure driop off and slow play. BINGO - thats us

McGovern, Darling and Cripps should all be dropped imo. Was extremely frustrating when Gov came back from injury as Hedwards was performing much better than what Gov is providing recently. Waterman for Darling as he's also offering nothing and Cripps for Connor West.

I think we can beat Adelaide but I dont think we will if that makes sense.

Adelaide have a bunch of kids who are, at the very least, having a crack and while not winning you can see effort.

Its no surprise the last 2 wins weve had come with a few kids playing. Ledwards last qtr v rich lifted the side.

Prob be a close-ish game all day and Adelaide get the choccies coz were mentally fragile ATM.

Honestly I hope we get thumped. Any wins we garner for the rest of the season will just be wallpapering over the cracks, and the coaching staff/ players wont see a reason to change.

Simmo's pigheaded defence of his abysmal gameplan needs a wakeup call, and he wont get that by sneaking into finals. Feet need to be put to the fire.

You can really see that happening? WC are way to conservative for that and now that they’ve achieved a 4 quarter effort they’ll never change.
lol i know.

just in my head I can picture them high fiving after a few goals and laughing.

Then I picture their defenders running off them setting up just as many goals

It really has become a real selection issue, do we keep making 5 or 6 changes each week which is not great.

I think the return of our long term injured star player who aren't performing and clearly underdone is the main problem, particularly in the midfield.

In the game last night Yeo, 18, Shuey 16 attended the most CBA's. Kelly the next with 14. Yeo and Shuey who have missed most of the season combined for a total of 35 disposals.

So at the selection table what is solution

Perhaps Yeo to Half Back

Where do you get those stats from? Occasionally I’ve gone through and counted CBA’s myself. But that involves rewatching games, and a lot of our recent games I have zero interest in rewatching.
