Reckon it'll be

OUT - Edwards (sub), Ah Chee, Nelson

IN - West, Waterman, Foley

None of the untouchables will get dropped. Obviously. If it's going to be anyone at all, it'll be Sheed.

Can't make too many changes gaiz. Have to trust the process which has netted us a 55 point loss, a 92 point loss, and a 10 point loss against the bottom team.

Sheed is a turnover merchant at present. But he is also our only mid who is able to consistently find the footy ~25+ times week after week.

Do you back him in to turn it around? Do you drop him? Do you move him to the HFF?

For me, what swings it towards dropping him is his lack of workrate defensively. He lopes around, hardly ever sprints, corrals and lays the odd half hearted tackle. Not good enough.

Sheed should be dropped. He is a snail and can't lay a tackle to save his own life.

Ok with the revelation that none of the senior players will be dropped, no matter how much they might deserve it, and on the assumption that none of them will be “managed” or “sore” (because how are they going to get back form and confidence by sitting on the sidelines?)…

Out: Yeo (injured)
In: West

We need to get West in and this seems like a great opportunity. There’s no point risking Yeo if he’s hurt.

Out: Kennedy (managed)
In: Williams

Yes I realize this looks like it goes against what I said earlier, but this is a genuine managing of an aging player for an away trip, not pretending to manage a guy who’s out of form (that’s not Kennedy). It allows us to bring in Williams to back up Nic so we can stop using Allen in that role, and it gives us a look at a Darling/Allen forward line.

Out: Ah Chee
In: XON

O’Neill to come in and play the forward/mid chopout role that Ah Chee apparently played on Monday to little effect. It might be his last opportunity to show whether he’s worthy of a new contract.

Just the three changes, two of them sort of forced, since the repeated weeks of five or six changes is affecting our cohesiveness.

Backs: Barrass, McGovern, Rotham, Sheppard, Hurn, Duggan, Cole
Mids/rucks: Kelly, Shuey, Sheed, Gaff, West, Nelson (defensive wing), NicNat, Williams
Forwards: Darling, Allen, Ryan, Cripps, Langdon, Petruccelle, O’Neill (rotating mid)

Sub: Ah Chee
Emergencies: Waterman (traveling), Ledwards, Hedwards

I would be dropping McGovern, Gaff and Kelly before I relegated Sheed.

There are so many players in our team who a) can't tackle b) don't want to tackle and c) have no inclination to run defensively.

As least Sheed is finding the football. It would be nice if Shuey did.

Didn’t watch the game but is sheed only getting it because he’s being fed by NN in stoppages?

Should be a thread for Nic nats 200th. Not enough being said about it.

For a guy who has done 2 Knee recons and suffered from serious OP its amazing he has gotten to 200 games and is look to possibly get 250 games.

His form over the last 18 months has been excellent and should be be in the AA this year if they go for 2 ruckman.

Have pondered this equation myself - he finds the pill enough and seems to be in there when we're moving forward.
Even though his DE is bad it is obviously because he often has to dispose of it under pressure, so not necessarily his fault, at least he is moving it forward instead of upping his DE by going backwards/sideways.

But I just cant stand the sight of him ALWAYS jogging defensively, that disgusting plod is hard to watch when you know where the team is at right now (and you know that as a player he knows that even more than we do but yet is still plodding).
He doesn't even put on any perceived pressure because he makes it so obvious he is not even going to bother to chase.
I also dont know if it is cos he is buggered from hard gut running around the ground like Gaff is rumoured to do (can anyone clear this up).

Gaff is the same but Sheed is the worst imo.

Right now our main priority is to put to bed the notion that if a time rocks up and goes hard at is we will falter.
If teams have that mindset about us then we are going to be ambushed EVERY.SINGLE.GAME.
We need to start going hard and making that our first priority to get that monkey off our back.

Sheed though is in the "a) can't tackle b) don't want to tackle and c) have no inclination to run defensively."
He's actually been in that camp longer than the players who have suddenly gone soft.
Often he gets away with it because like final season Priddis he is making sure he is nowhere near the chase.
If you're not chasing at all and nowhere near the opposition defensively then of course you dont look like you're unwilling to tackle.

I agree though he is getting a lot of the ball when it is in our hands or still in contention.

I don't think so - from my amateur observations I think he is willing to contest it when the ball is still in contention - but when we have lost it and it is flowing the other way he seems to just give up.

I have only seen two West Coast Eagles games live this year and Sheed has run hard defensively in both and been our leading possession winner, or in the top three, on each occasion.

I think there is just complete disharmony in the team at the moment.

And now the WA border arrangements have changed. Lucky this game is in Adelaide not Melbourne or against a Vic team now that arrivals from Vic are into the old 14 day Q.

However, there is nothing to say that by the weekend SA won't be added to the 14 day Q on return list.

Its important that we don't go making stupid "statement changes" just because there's half a dozen senior players on premium dollars strutting around like superstars and playing like crap every week.

He was even struggling to rove some that were hit straight down his throat. Agree there is a lack of team unity. But just higher stats can’t hide the fact that some players aren’t playing their role at all well. Cole only had 12 disposals but I thought he made a lot better decisions and tried to take the game on
