What do you mean we have rich depth? We have Nairanui and Lycett with no depth after that. The reality is we have a horrendous "depth" ruck in Giles then 2 or 3 makeshift ruckman. That's not depth, let alone the best depth in the league.

Like you said we have Naitanui [best ruckman in the game] and Lycett [better than the first ruck of half the teams in the game] which is considered such a luxury we traded away Sinclair [best 22 at premiership favourite Sydney]
The point is there are very few capable rucks in the league and a lot of sides would be grateful to have our plan b, Nic's gone down and Scott steps up and there is not another team around who could do that so of course we have the best ruck depth going. Can you name a team thats deeper?

Giles may be average but he is decent for a 3rd string ruckman. Dominates the WAFL every week. I think the problem is we don't have anyone for that 2nd ruck/forward spot apart from Lycett who now has to be number 1. We dont want to use Gov there otherwise it leaves us vulnerable in defence if we lose the clearance. Simmo has a conundrum.

Sydney had a pretty dangerous ruck combo at the start of the year with Tippet and Sinclair . Tippet was in AA form some were saying

I think they have to back Mckenzie in, he is a proven good player and for me is the only option with Nic probably gone.
This allows Darling and McGovern to pinch hit in the ruck when needed, Schofield can go forward when Darling is in there.
Giles simply does not offer enough. Barass will return also so our backline should be ok even if McGovern rucks.
We can't be a one trick pony forward if Darling does some ruck work, we still need another tall forward, can Mckenzie play forward? Or Barass??
Be interesting to see what direction they take.

He was but I doubt too many on this board would say Tippet plus Sinclair is better than Nic plus Lycett. The difference is Sydney has genuine midfield firepower to cover the loss of any ruckman which is less true for us.

Crows run Jenkins in the ruck so i agree with the Tommy B for NN providing Scotty can play a game out. I thought he was hampered by a massive corky atm.
Yes agree that at the his stage Scotty may have trouble in being able to ruck the whole game. Felt he was starting to tire before Nic came back. (Didn't sleep at all well last night - just feel so bad for Nic as know how much he wanted to help the boys succeed - also for us supporters as well!!).

Out-NN In-Barrass (if fit) or EMac (otherwise)
Play one ruckman and get Darling/Yeo/anyone but Gov (we need him down back) to pinchh hit in the Ruck/provide Lycett's some support
If Lycett is injured too, we're screwed

Roll the die with Lycett as sole ruckman. Share the backup role around depending on where the ball is just to provide a contest. Someone (Yeo?) to go third man up at every contest.

It's up to the midfield now. Time to step up.

IN: Barrass
OUT: Nic Nat

I know everybody knocked Brown when he was brought in to assist Lycett in the ruck, but srs question how does he compare to Giles? Who is better to bring in, or neither??

I only reckon Brown because he is more versatile and gives everything to play AFL . Giles is good ruckman but lacks versatility so unless Lycett doesn't play i think Brown can offer more around the ground which is important to our game style.

Jeez that is grim news for you guys if so, thoughts go out. Cannot think of a worse player to lose right now! I said to my friend it would be like us losing Betts:(

All the best for the coming weeks still, good luck and thankyou for knocking off he Hawks last night for us:cool:

can we knock you guys next week please?

*sigh* okay I'm ready to acknowledge Nic may not be playing next week.

In: Barrass, Brown
Out: Nelson, Nic Nat

I'm reluctant to bring back Brown but frankly not sure we have much choice.

Bringing in Mackenzie and moving Gov around will just stuff up our structure.

Barrass an essential in, especially with Tex, Jenkins and Lynch all lining up for the Crows. Nelson unlucky but clearly below our other small/medium-sized defenders in the pecking order IMO.

Well NN confirmed ACl so he is out. Barrass in as Adelaide are tall and play with one ruck?

I'd prefer one ruck to bringing Brown back in but Lycett has played sore the last two games - think it will be too big an ask to run him solo against Jacobs.
