I thought Shep and Sheed looked a little proppy at the end of the game ... hope they are both right to go. Both had great games at the TIO.
Shep received a heavy knock and Sheed was feeling his hamstring a bit.

No injuries now, please!
I saw Shred rub the hammy in the last.

Do we know how he pulled up?

I think he played down forward for the last 5 minutes, Darling went to the bench and McGovern was playing CHF.

I seem to recall Darling on the flank kicking to McGovern playing CHF resulting in a goal.

I thought I heard Simmo say something in presser like "Darling capable of being targeted". I suspect that Simmo is looking for a counter to that in later games. I don't know but Simmo may be looking for a true CHF. McGovern certainly is that.

This seems to indicate a shortage of a tall somewhere. He seems to know that by saying "we will be exposed" in discussing the back line. I may be reading too much into this. But why would you move your CHB to CHF when the game has been won? My guess is he was trying something. It would also be good to know who went back. He may be thinking of bringing in a tall down back and allowing Darling more freedom as well as releasing a powerhouse marking CHF in McGovern. You are talking awesome forward line on historical terms. Who would that tall down back be. Who offers the most flexibility? Who would go out? Sorry to ask all these questions.

We may have to wait to see how the season and the team develops.

Wouldn't make many changes, most people have covered off the likely scenarios - Selwood, Duggan, Rosa etc.
That feels about right, Butler was very good again, nice to have him back there.

Hopefully this week both teams run out together through the same banner (if they have one). Be nice to do something special before the game, as no doubt West Coast will honour Phil Walsh well post-match, they are very good at that type of thing.
Think it's going to be the most emotional match ever, think you'll see some real raw human emotion after the game.
Will be tough for all.

Sinclair and mcinnes played some backline at east perth as back up .

Excluding that one incident deep into time on of the 2nd quarter.

That was. A moment for me also but on seeing the replay Butler was in motion to kick the ball but Melb ruckman Gawn was looming large and Butts was attempting to adjust at the last moment .

Gov wasnt without a hiccup though. He was blessed to amend for it with a second intercept mark within 30 seconds when the Dees panicked and bombed it back inside 50 after looking a little shocked they had the ball at all.

Overall Butler gets a pass mark.

Butler has ben exceptional this year apart from the first couple of games, I really thought he was just depth only this year, he still seems to make one absolute blunder a game but it usually due to his casualness in his attack on the ball sometimes. His coolness and experience has been very handy for our young defenders

Gov made a blunder that cost a goal and Schoeys blunder was incredible the effort he put in to redeem it was exceptional i almost cried for him

Nor am I advocating that. Merely requesting the blinkers come off once in a while. Even the poster boys make mistakes.

Gaff had a similar one too think his eyes lit up seeing sheed in middle so open and he fumbled and dropped the ball in that mind change moment. Long stops in luscious grass for butler stubbing the turf . Every time someone hit the grass they came up with what i presumed to be grass clippings ( or leaches . Jokes ) so the surface was different to usual

My thoughts exactly.

Just to add to the banner thing. I read somewhere it was confirmed that the Crows and Power would run through one banner for next weeks showdown.

OUT: Selwood
IN: Barrass

Duggan Sub. McGovern CHF. Barrass CHB.

HF Lecras McGovern Darling
FF Cripps Kennedy Hill

Try stop that!

I'd be keen to see this play out. If we started to get carved up we move Gov back loose again.

Barrass needs to be rewarded and show his wares but not at the cost of 4 points.
Plus Crows have a smallish backline so I don't want to see us go too tall.

Due to events, Adelaide did not announce a team for Sunday's abandoned game so here is their round 13 team with heights and an expectation that Sloan is out. So 6 players over 190 but only 4 at 194 or taller

FB: Brown (181), Talia (195), Hartigan (194)
HB: Laird (178), Cheney (187), Wright (178)
C: Mackay (181),Thompson (184), Smith (189)
HF: Cameron (183), Jenkins (198), Lynch (191)
FF: Betts (173), Walker (192), Dangerfield (185)

F: Jacobs (202), Sloane (183), Douglas (180)

I: Van Berlo (184), M Crouch (180), Kelly (189) S: Ellis-Yolmen (189)

We had 6 players over 190 cm against Melbourne : Nicnat (201), Sinclair (200), JK (194), McGovern (195), Darling (191), Schofield (196)
Adding Barrass would be a plus 1 in terms of tall players. Tempting but main question for me is will that work with the defensive structures and does the MC have enough confidence in Barrass. The match up on Lynch is giving 5 cm away with Sheppard or Wellers.

Lynch doesn't play that tall anyway, he is more of a running forward, doesn't take too many contested marks

Sheppard has been doing wonderfully on guys taller than him all year so I'd back him on Lynch, but why change what's not broken.
Crows have had trouble scoring lately and the guys down back have been stopping everything.

I still think that when Lecras goes into the middle we would have JK, Darling, resting ruck, Gov in the forward line and be too tall. It would be interesting though as JK and the king chase bloody well for their size.

The Crows have a lot of those mid size defenders who like to run and link up. Brown, Cheney, Wright, Laird and Smith with half of them being left footers with a decent kick..

BUT, big but. If the ball goes in like it did against melbourne none of this would matter.
Man those bullet passes in greesy conditions were great to watch.
