It is currently pissing down here in Adelaide.

DMac sent a few of Two Dogs' mates over early, armed with his secret rain dance knowledge, to ensure this was the case.

Brad Scott on 5AA a couple of days ago. In the interview he's asked about Mason Wood, Majak, Robbie etc. well worth a listen.

Yep, clearly doesn't bother us anymore.

Tarrant will also be far more effective in the wet than Daw could be.
Yeah, really don't like the look of our backline against their forwards either. Jenkins and Pods are far most likely to kick a bag than someone like Vickery. I reckon you'd be wanting to play Grima as well as Firrito.
Something like
Thompson - Walker
Hansen - Jenkins
Grima - Podsiadly
Firrito - Betts

Betts calls Thommo his hardest opponent but I we can't afford to leave Hansen or Spud on Walker.

Tomorrow I'm guessing we'll see

Thompson - Walker
Hansen - Jenkins
Firrito - Podsiadly
McDonald or Atley on Betts

Not sure about that last one. I like McDonald overhead which is one of Betts's strengths but you'd like to back in Ats's experience.

I worry when both Hansen and Thompson have match-ups that take them away from supporting others, but I suppose that's the nature of having both Grima and Tippett injured.

I don't like Firrito on Betts, but Atley has also struggled on him. Perhaps McDonald get's his shot?

Without sounding like a cliche coach it is absolutely about supply, we defend their entries by pushing them wide and rushing their kicks, even Taylor Walker will have a tough day.

In all honesty. I am comfortable with Mcdonald to limit, at worst case, any small forward to 4 goals.

You're right. It's on the midfield more than ever. I think Betts will get the sweet deal, looks inevitable that he'll kick a few. Just can't let the talls into the game with the sort of supply that we allowed Geelong to give Hawkins.

After last weekend the second quarter showed we can lapse and lapse badly, but in the third we wanted it more.

When we come out like that and want it more in the midfield we will beat pretty much everyone.

So much of every game is now on the midfield its not funny.

But this backline is much more likely to run the ball out then the one with Grima in it.

Narni averages more rebound 50s than anyone this year so I'm not sure where you're going with that.
I am going with quality run, not just a kick out under pressure. Firrito is in great form and provides a flexible 3rd tall option. Narni is a bit slow with the ball. We have Atley, LMac and Mullet, complimented by Firrito, running away from blokes like Pods and Jenkins. Every time they don't mark it, we will run it out.

I'd rather have Grima in because he's the best spoiler in the side. I think both Firrito and Grima would have been good for this game. Grima to play tight, Spud to mop up and rebound, Mullett would move up the ground or be sub, has offered us very little defensively this year.

Last week we played poorly in the first half and really well in the second half and I am curious as to whether taking Daw off at half time was the catalyst for our form turn around; as a lot here are contending a 2 tall forward line afforded the opportunity for Drew to get in more space and there fore improve his performance and kick goals or if it had more to do with Brad's address to the players at half time or (my personal theory) LT reminded them they were playing in the Icon jumper and their performance to that point was a disgrace or did LA's performance as a super sub lift our performance in an unprecedented way? It can't be a 2 tall forward line because we have added Tazza this week, taking 1 player off could hardly have caused that turn around so it can't b the Daw move and the stat's don't support LA having that kind of influence, so that leaves motivational factors being Brad's address or the Icon jumper and this week we won't be wearing the Icon so that can't be a factor again (if it ever was) that leaves Brad's motivational speech at half time as the factor that changed the game. I can only say that if this is the case then we may be in serious trouble tomorrow night as no team can rely on motivational speeches at half time in every game to get over the line. Hopefully Brad's speech has a long term effect (the rest of the season) and the boys can draw on their internal motivation and each other to find the will to contest and strive to play their best in every game spurred on by our leaders. This match against the Crows indeed shapes up as a barometer for where this group is at mentally and how we will fare or the rest of the season.

I'd start Mullet on Betts and tell him his performance today will highly depend on his selection next week. Playing way below his best so we need a massive game from him this week. He needs to lift a couple of gears or he's a liability IMO.

Will be interesting to see how Goldy goes as the sole ruckman.
Played a ripper last week - really hope he can go 4 quarters at that level, especially as I see our midfield needing to dominate to keep the pressure off our short-handed back line.

Telling a player that if he doesn't play well he'll be dropped next week would be a terrible idea, especially someone like Mullett. We need him to run and take the game on, not be afraid that if he stuffs up he's in the 2's.

Players aren't stupid, they know they have to perform or they won't get selected. Vocalising that would be horrible coaching.

Should be going the other way.

JPods or Jenkins to kick a bag, It's just what happens to North.

Despite that, I think we should definitely win this, as stated above, we have them covered across the ground, they have definite star-power in Tex and Danger, just as Richmond do in Riewoldt and Martin. It's very much a case of last week, if we play as a team, we aren't going to be beaten by a couple individual performances, if we don't show up, these players will rip us apart.
